Beau will be 2 in February. He is a fixed German Shephard / Siberian Husky Mix. Treat Trained. Knows commands. Can be vocal around new people but acclimates fairly quickly and stays quiet. Good walker. Better as a single home dog with adults and /or older children, no cats. He currently lives with his "sister", a young female German Shepherd, but would likely thrive solo. Active pretty guy who is very gentle, loves cheese, toys, peanut butter, and belly scratches. He e is crate trained, house trained, and has multiple beds & toys we can provide. He loves walks or running in a fenced yard, and horseplay. Due to a progressing cancer diagnosis, we need to find him a loving forever home asap.

Story
Name: Yuki Sex: Female Color: Isabella White Eye Color: Brown Birthday: 11/15/20 Weight: 40 Large Dog Friendly: Yes, she does really well with all the dogs she meets at the dog park. At home she tends to get nervous with other dogs when they are too hyper or wild. Small Dog Friendly: Unknown Cat Friendly: No Crate Trained: At this time, no, as she is not used to being in a crate. Appears to have some separation anxiety and will need work to get crate trained. Housebroken: Yes Energy Level: She is typically very calm, but does get zoomies and likes to run around. She would do best in a home where she can relax, cuddle and get all the belly rubs! She also loves walks, and regular runs in a fenced in yard/area Reaction to New People: She is shy at first, but warms up quickly and loves pets. Needs to work on socialization with new people and situations Kid Friendly: Older and calmer would be best for her, as young kids and their noises and quick movements make her nervous. Training: She knows the basics, but could use some better leash manners as she likes to jump around and go all husky when asked to go potty. She needs socialization to learn some confidence in new/public situations. Like most huskies, she is a runner, so caution by the doors and getting in and out of the car is needed. Fence: Currently she goes out on a leash to go potty and then back in, as she does not appear to like the cold as much as a lot of huskies. She does respect the fence at a dog park, but at home would need to be on a tie out or supervised as she will dig under or try to climb out. Solo or Siblings: She would love to be the lone center of human attention, but could also like a sibling to play with, depending on the dog as she can be picky about her playmates and if they are too hyper she can be nervous. From the Foster: Yuki is a furry little princess that loves all the attention. She is overall pretty calm, but also has her husky zoomies. Since a small pup, she has always been a bit shy and hesitant in unknown situations/people and needs to build her confidence, but she does love to explore, and would benefit from socialization and group training class. Like a typical husky, she loves to run, climb, jump etc, so may also benefit from joring or agility classes. She is tolerant of baths, but is scared of water otherwise, and will tip-toe through wet grass. She loves attention and belly rubs, and will lay on her back and paw at you or reach out to you for more if you stop. She is an all around adventurous, loving, curious and goofy girl who needs a best friend to cuddle, experience life with, and to help her overcome her nervousness/fear of the world. Adoption Fee: $50 All dogs coming into Adopt a Husky Minnesota receive care tailored to their needs, including: Nose-to-tail exam with a partner veterinarian, Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), 4DX test to check for heartworm or tick exposure, Fecal Analysis, Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative, Spay/Neuter prior to adoption, Microchip, and are evaluated for temperament and trainability.

Story
Name: Teddy Color: Red & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 09-24-2021 (estimated) Weight: 60 Large dog friendly: Yes, prefers females. Can be selective meeting dogs on leash. Small dog friendly: No Cat friendly: No, strong prey drive Crate trained: Yes, but does whine, pace and bark. He had a history of soiling his kennel too. We are using a prescribed medication (prosac) to help ease his anxiety and are seeing amazing results. It's an inexpensive med. He has complete free roam of the house when home alone now. Has never been destructive. House-trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Reaction to new people: Friendly Kid friendly: Loves kids Training: Knows sit, paw, lay-down Normal husky coat which will require regular brushing. You should aim for once a week or so, and more when he is blowing his coat, typically twice a year. Fence: Strong tie-out recommended. He is an escape artist (can climb fences, and flip up gate latches) Solo or siblings: Requires a sibling, was adopted as a solo dog and was anxious, Just wasn't the right environment for him. From the foster: Need a snuggle buddy? Teddy is the one to keep you cozy at night and "aaaoooohhh" sweet nothings. Teddy gets along best with female dogs, and will take redirection well from dogs and humans. He tends to jump when greeting people and likes to counter surf. Teddy paces to let you know when he needs to go out. He enjoys walking nicely on the leash (not pulling too hard), followed by cuddles on the couch with his foster and the kids, nudging them for pets. Teddy does have some separation anxiety when home alone. Shared walls/apartment living would not be a good fit as he can be noisy at times, he is getting better and many times will go lay in his crate by choice when we are home. He recently started having free roam and has been doing really good! He is by far one of the sweetest and lovable huskies you'll ever meet. Adoption Fee: $400 All dogs coming into Adopt a Husky Minnesota receive care tailored to their needs, including: Nose-to-tail exam with a partner veterinarian, Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), 4DX test to check for heartworm or tick exposure, Fecal Analysis, Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative, Spay/Neuter prior to adoption, Microchip, and are evaluated for temperament and trainability.

Story
Name: Lobo Sex: Male Color: Black & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 01/31/21 Weight: 46 lbs Large Dog Friendly: Needs slow and controlled introductions Small Dog Friendly: Probably not Cat Friendly: No Crate Trained: Yes, needs a little encouragement, sleeps and naps there fine, crates when foster family is away from the house. Housebroken: Yes, but will poop in the house if he isn't given enough time to find a spot outside. Is fairly regular and gives cues when he needs to go (walks/sniffs differently). Energy Level: High energy but he naps hard when tired out. To get there we've taken him on 2 mile walks, fetch after shorter walks on the zip line, tug of war inside. When tired, he'll start to act up; just like a toddler, he doesn't know he needs to nap yet. We work at home and he naps in our office between walks. Reaction to New People: Excited, curious. He is still working on jumping and being mouthy when he is excited to see someone. Kid Friendly: 12+ Lobo gets excited by younger kids and he will run after, mouth/soft bite their elbows/arms. We are working with Lobo on this, but for now he does better around older, dog-savvy kids. Training: Quick learner! Sits if he's going to get something: go outside, a treat, a toy, etc. Has learned shake, starting to lay, learning 'leave it' on walks, learning 'close' on walks for loose leash with both a collar and gentle leader. Grooming Needs: Lobo has a typical husky coat that will require regular, thorough grooming. We recommend at least once per week, and more when he is blowing his coat (about twice per year). Fence: Lobo is doing well on a tie-out and respects baby gates in the house. He would likely do well with a securely fenced-in yard. Solo or Siblings: Lobo lived with another dog in a previous home. He may do well with appropriate introductions or could be your one and only! From the Foster: Lobo is a great boy, who is still working on a couple of things. He pulls on walks and gets excited by squirrels, rabbits, birds, and other dogs. He learns really quick and has made huge strides so far, but we are continuing to fine tune his training. He is a great running partner, pulling for up to 1.5 miles and then running alongside me for 1.5 miles. I believe he will be able to go further with continued workouts and could be a good candidate for dog sports. He can be silly and likes to play. He's protective of long-lasting snacks like a bone or filled Kong, and he counter surfs, so any opportunities to get at unsupervised food should be carefully managed. After a few weeks of settling in, I see Lobo learning the rules through training and routine. Lobo would do best with a strong experienced leader that is willing to continue his training. He will make a great partner for an active family who is ready to set him up for success! Story
Name: Wally Sex: Male Color: Gray & white Eye Color: Brown Birthday: 07/18/22 Weight: 46 lbs Large Dog Friendly: Yes Small Dog Friendly: Unknown Cat Friendly: Unknown Crate Trained: Yes but protests loudly when you leave for 15-30 minutes before he's great the rest of the time you're gone. He sleeps in one at night without issues. Housebroken: Yes Energy Level: Medium Reaction to New People: Friendly Kid Friendly: Unknown. His foster family does not have kids but have observed nothing to indicate that he shouldn't be in a family with children. Training: Knows sit, shake, down, come, has B- leash skills, and is working on leave it and stay. Grooming Needs: Wally has a standard husky coat which will require regular thorough brushing. You should aim for once a week or so, and more when he is blowing his coat, typically twice a year. Fence: Fence or tie-out will work fine. Solo or Siblings: Wally would do fine with siblings (preferably female) or as an only dog. From the Foster: Wally came to AAHMN from animal control after he was found running loose. It doesn't sound like his previous home was a good one, but that didn't bring Wally down. He is the sweetest boy and loves people! Unless he's snoozing he wants to follow you around so he can always be close by. If you let him, he will wiggle his way into your lap to get as close as possible for all the snuggles. Combine that attention with treats and he will never leave your side! This boy is VERY food motivated and makes sure to announce mealtimes for everyone to hear. He has quite a loud bark, so an apartment or similar housing with shared walls would not work for Wally. He is currently living with two fur siblings (one male and one female) and is now getting along pretty well with both of them. It took a couple weeks for him and the male to figure each other out, but they can now go on walks together, play, and nap near each other without issues. We think Wally will make a great addition to his new family and are excited for him to find his forever home. He deserves it! Medical: Wally tested positive for Lyme disease on 07/19/24. He completed one month of doxycycline as preventative antibiotic treatment. Additional bloodwork indicated no significant issues. No further treatment is needed at this time but he may continue to test positive for Lyme in the future. Story
Name: Maypel Sex: Female Color: Red & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 07/31/2022 estimated Weight: 35 lbs Large Dog Friendly: Yes Small Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Unknown Crate Trained: Yes Housebroken: Yes Energy Level: Medium Reaction to New People: Very friendly Kid Friendly: Unknown but she is really friendly so we think she'd be good with kids Training: Maypel knows sit; working on stay and come Grooming Needs: Typical husky so regular brushing and blowing her coat generally twice a year Fence: A fence is desired but not required Solo or Siblings: Sibling required, she does have a little anxiety when be left home so having a dog sibling would help with that From the Foster: Maypel is so sweet! She is very friendly and gentle! She loves her people and wants to be by them so follows around the house unless she's too tired. She loves attention and doesn't seem to have any fear of people. Maypel will pace when she's feeling anxious and always wanted to be moving when we first got her, so lots of time on walks or outside helped. She would go to the door to be let out or walk the perimeter of the fence. She learned the gate pretty quickly and would go sit by it but never tried to escape. After a few weeks she seemed a lot less anxious and stopped looking to be free. Maypel is a good eater, she is pretty thin so we've been doing some higher calorie foods and treats to help gain some weight. She loves people food like cheese, chicken, sweet potato and much more. We'll increase how much food she gets over time as well to make sure she's getting enough. Maypel is 100% potty trained. No accidents and she has a pretty regular schedule. If she needs to go out she'll come and get you. She generally sleeps 10pm-6am but sometimes lets me sleep in a bit on the weekends. She rarely has to go out during the night. Maypel is ok in her crate but it's not her favorite thing. At first she slept in her crate in the bedroom but after 3-4 nights she refused to go in and slept fine loose in the house. She generally sleeps in the crate with the door open, on the bedroom floor or on the living room floor. She has jumped onto the bed for snuggles but hasn't slept there all night yet. Maypel was in her crate in the living room while we were gone at work for the first few weeks. We gave her a calming treat which helped and she was near our husky too which also helped. Now she is loose when we are gone but we close bedroom and bathroom doors and close the gate to the basement. No issues with her getting into things and no calming treat needed. She might whine for a few minutes but having our husky Braxie there is comforting. Maypel's fur is super soft. She doesn't mind being brushed with a slicker brush or undercoat rake. Her tail is super fluffy and I say it looks like a feather duster! Maypel is pretty quiet. She'll bark a little if she's playing with Braxie or if we are taking too long to get her outisde but that's about it. Mayoek definitely likes to antigonize him and be the boss of him, but if another dog is loud or aggressive she'll back up and come stand by me. She is a really good listener and really happy. She loves walks! We do at least 2 walks/day and she and Braxie love to zoom and wrestle in the backyard. Once she's tired she'll curl up in the shade or on a cooling mat to take a nap. Maypel is a pretty easy husky and so sweet!
