Adoption fee: $650, plus taxes Location: Foster Home Daffy came to us with his 10 siblings from Atlanta Georgia. It was a big trip for Daffy but now that he is settled into his foster home, we have realized what a perfect family dog he is! Daffy is described as an amazing blend of playful and snuggly. We think he would be a great addition to a growing family. During the day he wants to play with toys, run around a backyard and soak up the sunshine. At night, the time is right for some super puppy snuggles, kisses, and lots of love from this sweet boy. Wouldn't it be so fun to see him play in the snow for the first time in his life? Daffy is about three months old, he is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of his vaccinations. If you are interested in making Daffy a part of your family, please submit an application on Carver Scott Humane Society's website.

Adoption Fee: $650, plus taxes Location: Foster Home Marvin came to us with his 10 other siblings and mom from Atlanta Georgia. After that big ride to Minnesota, he got a taste for big adventures and now looks to try new things all of the time! Marvin's foster mom says he was the first one to jump the baby gate, so we think he is ready for another big adventure! He is very playful as well, so once the exploration is done for the day, he loves to hang out in the yard and play with some toys. After all that puppy energy has been expelled, then Marvin will be ready to give you some of the best snuggles in your life. Who wouldn't want to cuddle up with that adorable face? Marvin is about three months old, he is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on his vaccinations. If you are interested in making Marvin your new adventure buddy, please fill out an application on Carver Scott Humane Society's website.

Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by my friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $100.00 will be applied during the contract process. Hi! I'm Buddy and I am an owner surrender. I am deaf, but that doesn't stop me from being an amazing boy! From the Foster: Photos and Videos of Buddy: https://photos.app.goo.gl/uvmNj7g9YXB925CU9 Buddy's dream day would start and end with head scritches and belly rubs, followed by a walk to sniff around a quiet neighborhood, fueled by lots of treats. He'd then take a long car ride on the highway, return home to more head scritches and belly rubs, and enjoy chewing on a bone in his bed before a nap. He's used to having a human companion around for most of the day. He does all right for up to 4-5 hours alone, though if there is food accessible to him, he will find it and eat it. He's a loyal guy who will love his people well and do his best to protect you from squirrels, postal carriers, dogs on the TV, and package delivery trucks. He's friendly towards people, and very food motivated. He's a senior dog who knows what he wants and will communicate it. He's had to navigate some health challenges and can be a bit stubborn or crabby about being unable to do what he wants. Buddy would do best as the only pet in a quiet home, with someone who wants a loyal companion for daily walks, and time together. We have yet to make formal introductions to any other dogs or cats, when we encounter them in the neighborhood, he has a big bark and is learning how to be less reactive. Buddy would do best in a house with no shared walls.

Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by my friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $200.00 will be applied during the contract process. Hi I'm Goldie and I'm from a reservation. From the Foster: Hi I'm Goldie! Let's get the obvious out of the way first...if you adopt me, you not only get a super snuggly pup but also my amazing chariot. In lots of ways, I'm your typical pup...or maybe even an exceptional one! I love to snuggle and get pets & belly rubs. Sometimes my foster mom will boost me up on the sofa for even better snuggling & then I'm in heaven! I keep her company and take my afternoon nap close by in her office. I love to hang out on our deck in good weather and I love my 'up time' in my chariot when I run around the backyard, play with the other pups, chase balls or play tug of war. If I can get out of the house & yard, I am a very happy girl! I love going for walks and love, love, love car rides! If you are a runner or a biker, I'm a bit of a speed demon in my chariot and can keep up with you if you want some company on your walk or ride! And I love my toys...I have a set of four, including my favorite Hamburger that go out on the deck with me and then keep my company when I go to bed. Once a week, my foster mom gets me a delicious bone! If I have that or the chew toys, I don't chew on things I shouldn't! So some other things you need to know about me & my chariot: I stay quietly in my room overnight and in the morning my foster mom helps hold me up so I can pee on a puppy pad. I can't poop while she's holding me, so I have one spot in the house I tend to head to do that business if I can't get outside. Foster mom says it's really easy to clean up...very contained & solid. In the house, I tend to not use my chariot & just scoot. While diapers work if I'm in the chariot, they don't stay on well when I scoot. If I want you to come pet me, I may give a bark or two...its easier to get you to come than to have to scoot too far. I will also help let you know if someone is at the door. While I love my foster dad, I am initially more comfortable with women. Maybe because one of them shot me, men need to go slowly to make me know I can trust them. I'm learning to be a bit less nervous about some loud things like motorcycles, lawn mowers, & fireworks, although I feel pretty safe in the house now...they worry me more outside. My foster mom wanted to add this: Goldie has some exercises she can do that will continue to help strengthen her legs, but it isn't clear how much more improvement she will make But Goldie is the sweetest thing in the house and if you sit on the floor, she'll climb in your lap for all the pets & snuggles she can get. So if you'd like to come meet 'the sweetest thing in the world' and give me some snuggles & pets, fill out the application! I'd love to show you how lovable & snuggly I am! From the vet team: Hello! I arrived at Secondhand Hounds with a bullet wound that resulted in a spine injury and bilateral hip dysplasia. This injury has prevented me from being able to use my back limbs (nonambulatory paraparesis). I have been working with a physical therapist and I received x-rays during my care with the SHH vet team. It is important for my future adopters to know that there is a risk for my hip joint to become dislocated . Since I am not walking on my rear limbs this may never be a concern but depending on the weight that is placed on my rear limbs this is a possibility. My future adopter will be financially responsible for possible future orthopedic surgery or medical management needs.

Story
I am Tyler. I am from Missouri. From the foster: Tyler (aka Ty or TieDye) is a very sweet, curious, almost one year old puppy! He's from Missouri, has the cutest little beard and a crooked tail that he still wags very happily! He's high energy at times, with the occasional zoomies, but he also snoozes a lot throughout the day, chews on his bone for long stretches, and loves to snuggle in and watch a show. He loves any kind of ball and plays "soccer" with both his foster brothers who are eight and twelve years old, who adore him. He also loves going on walks and does pretty well on a leash. He does fine with slower walks, but also appreciates going faster as well so may do well with a jogger or runner. He is working on not pulling with excitement when he sees other dogs on his walks. He does great in the car and loves riding along to pick up kids or run errands. He wants to be friends with all dogs and humans, including kids. He needs more socialization with other dogs as he approaches them with a mix of curiosity, hesitation, and not knowing what to do. He can be quite vocal and cries when he sees other dogs that he really wants to play with, and is working on sitting and calming down. He plays well with his best neighbor doggy friend, so will likely do so with other dogs as well with continued socialization. Tyler knows and responds well to "sit", "stay", "come" and "leave it". He is house-trained and sleeps well through the night, in bed with his current foster, without needing to go outside. During the day, he does crates well for short amounts of time after some initial hesitation and resistance, and will at times go into his crate on his own when he's super tired. Ty loves to give kisses and can get a bit mouthy when seeking attention, and will need to continue to work on that. He's also working on not jumping on people when he's super excited to see them. He'd do best with family with older considerate kids based on this. He seems to have a bit of a sensitive tummy with new foods, and has done well with a mix of dry and wet dog food (Pedigree as introduced by his first foster) and treats in between meals, including the occasional blueberry. Tyler is a VERY good boy, and such a lovely, active family dog! He's stolen his current foster family's hearts, and they are sure you'll fall in love with him as well once you meet him!

I am Oreo. I am from Arkansas. From the foster: Hi, I am Oreo! I am an amazing puppy and super smart too. My foster family has been working with me and I have learned a lot. I know a ton of tricks that I have learned really fast but I need some better rewards when in distracting areas. Now that it is getting warmer I love walks. My family is working on leash skills with me and I am pretty good at it but still need work. I am doing really well with potty training and barely ever pee in the house as long as I get let out regularly. I am proud to announce that I am crate trained and can last up to 7 hours if needed but prefer it to be shorter, otherwise I have a ton of energy! Toys, especially ropes, are my favorite and I absolutely love to play with other dogs. I can be a pretty lazy puppy sometimes and love to just chill on the couch with my people, too. I love all people, and enjoy being with them all the time. I enjoy playing with them, being next to them when chewing my bones, and being by their side in the kitchen. Hoping I can do some of that in your home too! From his foster: We have learned that Oreo likes to have dog friends in the house with him. While not completely necessary, he loves to play and will be thrilled if there is a dog to play with all the time.

I am looking for a temp foster from May 2-7. I am also looking for a foster or forever family! Please CLICK HERE to sign up to foster! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt I am Winston. I am from Kansas. From his foster: Winston and his brother, Porter, are cuteness overload. He's made huge progress in potty training in just a week. He would greatly benefit with a very good schedule and routine for sleeping through the night and potty training. He doesn't mind sleeping in his crate at night. We're still working walking on leash. However, Winston loves rough housing with his brother or my older sons. He's also a quick learner as we've been working on 'sit' and 'kennel up'. Very motivated by treats.

Story
My name is Gomer and I am from Alabama. From his foster: Gomer (we've been calling him Homer, Homes, Homie) is a spunky, goofy, high energy pup. He loves to play with our resident dog and does well with sharing toys. He prefers to chew on a bone, play with a tennis ball or even the occasional stealing of a shoe. With redirection, Gomer quickly is learning to chew on his favorite toys, instead. Gomer loves to be by his people and snuggle up. If there is one word to describe Gomer, it's affectionate! He gives the best cuddles and will fall asleep in your lap. Our resident dog has also taken a liking to snuggling with Gomer. He is getting the hang of walking on a leash; we are fiercely working on impulse control, because he will pull at a squirrel or rabbit and it takes a moment to reset his mindset that he cannot have it. Gomer will abruptly stop and stare at new things while outside, he currently barks at strange objects and dogs but hopefully will grow out of that as he gets more socialization. Potty training is going well, he has not had any accidents while on a schedule, he quickly does his business and listens to "go potty command. He peacefully sleeps all night in his kennel (although he would much rather sleep next to you) and has stayed dry. He will go into his kennel when he can't be properly supervised or when we are gone. He's a quick learner, is food motivated and will train for kibble. With all the smarts and energy, he'll do well in a home that will be consistent in training/structure and give him lots of mental + physical exercise.
