Story
Fritz is a 2 year old neutered male. He is up to date on all vaccinations. I’ve only had him for a short time. He is 1/2 Shih Tzu and 1/2 Bichon. He weighs about 16 pounds but he definitely needs to lose a few lbs. He doesn’t shed and he doesn’t bark and definitely not aggressive. He would thrive in a home with someone who would slowly introduce him to new things, he needs confidence. He seems to be unsure of new things/experiences. I know that he has a wonderful personality buried in there somewhere. Some patience will bring that out. He becomes bonded to his “person” and will follow you everywhere. The photo shown is after his recent grooming.

Meet Einstein!Einstein is an adorable 8-year-old, 12-pound Shih Tzu with a heart full of love. Found wandering as a stray, this sweet boy got a fresh grooming, a dental, and had a few lumps removed—and he’s feeling so much better! Einstein may be hard of hearing or deaf, but it doesn’t slow him down. He’s incredibly sweet, great with other dogs and all people, and has a gentle, affectionate nature. Einstein is a good eater, loves following his person around, and would be thrilled to snuggle in bed with you. He’s also doing well with house training. Einstein is ready to bring love and companionship to a lucky forever home!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Story
Her name is Sunshine she is seven years old her birthday is August 1st 2017. She was given to me from a old co worker of mine who couldn't take care of her anymore. Sunshine is very sweet, sassy, stubborn she loves rubs and cuddles and kisses. I am not able to care for Sunshine any longer due to me having two full time jobs. I would love for Sunshine to go to a loving home who can give her the love and care I am not able to do.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  I know you want to meet me. I will be at Chuck & Don's, Maple Grove, 8115 Wedgewood Ln N Suite 1, Maple Grove, MN 55369 for an Adoption Event on Sunday, July 13th 12:00-2:00 pm Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.         Rudy is an adorable young Shih Tzu (around 11 pounds of pure puppy charm!) who’s still discovering the world—and loving every moment he gets to spend with his humans. Just under a year old, Rudy is a happy-go-lucky pup with a big personality, a strong sense of loyalty, and an eagerness to learn (with just a pinch of stubborn thrown in for fun). Rudy absolutely adores being with his people. In fact, he’d happily follow you room to room like your own furry shadow. If you’re out of sight, Rudy may get vocal to let you know he’s ready for more together time. He’s working on feeling more confident alone, but right now he thrives in a home where someone is nearby most of the time. He’s curious, smart, and starting to learn basic commands like “leave it” and “come on.” He hasn’t quite found his favorite treat yet, though strawberries and popcorn are strong contenders. Rudy loves plush squeaky toys and cow hooves—great options to help satisfy his puppy chewing needs. Crate training is still a work in progress—he’s not a fan yet and will bark when confined. Leash walking is also coming along slowly, and while he currently enjoys playtime in a fenced yard, with time and patience he’ll adjust to structured walks. Potty training is also underway, and he’s improving with consistency and praise. Rudy would do well in a home where he gets plenty of attention, playtime, and gentle guidance. He has started interacting with other dogs in his foster home but hasn’t been tested with large dogs or cats yet. While he hasn’t had much exposure to children, his gentle nature and loving disposition suggest he may do fine with calm, respectful kiddos. If you’re looking for a cuddly, smart, and spirited little guy who will make you laugh and keep you company at every turn, Rudy might just be your perfect match. He’s ready to bond, blossom, and bring a whole lot of joy into your life! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  T his puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Zeus and April are a father and daughter bonded pair that must be adopted together. Zeus, the father, is an 11-year-old Shih Tzu who weighs a little over 20 pounds. April, the daughter, is 10 years old and is a beautiful mix that includes Papillion and Bichon, along with Shih Tzu. She is very tiny at 9 pounds. Zeus and April lived their entire lives together along with one other dog in a home where they were loved and cared for. But circumstances changed and the owner was no longer able to take care of them, so they were surrendered to our rescue. Zeus and April are very bonded and are often found lying next to each other in their dog beds. April finds comfort and confidence in having Zeus around, and she is very timid when first meeting someone. Zeus is a beautiful larger Shih Tzu, and he thumps around with his large paws. He is very mellow and is happy to just hang around or go for a walk. He gets bursts of energy where he flies around his foster mom’s fenced in yard. Sometimes April will join in to chase each other. April is initially shy but warms up after a short period of time. She especially loves to cuddle at night when she is in bed with her foster mom, laying on or very close to her. As April gets to know and trust her foster mom more and more, she wants to be held and get belly tickles. These two are very well house-trained and like a small, healthy treat each time they come in from outside. They eat well with a morning and evening meal. They are just very easy. They are NOT afraid of thunderstorms or fireworks, which is really nice this time of year. They both ride well in a car, too. Neither seems too interested in toys but enjoy walks and being outside. They sleep in dog beds in the bedroom or in their foster mom's bed. The ideal home will be one where they will be the center of attention with lots of time available to spend with the pair just hanging out at home. A fenced in the yard would be a bonus so the pair can enjoy some sprinting. Ideally, they will be the only dogs in the household to keep the focus on them even though they get along well with other dogs including their two foster siblings. They have not been observed with children, but because they have easy-going personalities they probably would be okay with older, respectful children. April will eventually come to you after she becomes familiar and comfortable you. But she is fearful of someone just reaching for her or pursuing her to try to hold her. These are the requirements for Zeus’ and April’s new family: 1. Must be home much of the time and make Zeus and April the center of their family. They enjoy riding in the car, so a family who will include them in their daily lives and take them with them whenever possible would be great. 2. A fenced, secure yard would be ideal because they enjoy playing with each other in the yard. 3. Zeus requires daily eye washing and eye lubricating drops, so his family must be willing and able to provide that every day. 4. A family with children over the age of ten who know how to appropriately and gently interact with small dogs will be considered. 5. Must live within 100 miles of New Brighton, MN. 6. Agree to attend the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September each year. Both are neutered/spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Both have a dental scheduled for mid-July. Zeus requires daily eye washing and over the counter lubricating eye drops. He does not have dry eye, but gets mucus build-up, especially in his left eye that has a couple of small benign bumps on the eyelid. The total adoption fee for the pair is $379.72, which includes sales tax, and reflects a fee reduction of $100.00 for adopting a pair. To meet Zeus and April, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see them and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at the Southtown PetCo in Bloomington, MN.
