Meet Hershey! Purebred Shih Tzu. Hershey LOVES everyone he meets and loves kids even more and is partial to men, but still adores all he meets. He turned 1 on May 20, 2024. He gets along well with other dogs. Mostly house trained, but that can change from home to home so be prepared to work on this. He doesn’t chew on anything except his toys, but if you give him a toy with stuffing, he will tear it to pieces. He loves to sleep in the bed, but will sleep on a dog bed too. Lovessss his pup cups.

I adopted Kato when he was 8 weeks old. He is the best dog. He loves daily walks. He is great with children. He has never had a vet issue. He needs to be rehomed because he does not get along with our other dog. He has been showing aggression to him and it is not safe for either pet. Kato needs to be picked up when introduced to strangers as he has bitten someone before. He was off leash (not when I had him he was at a sitter) and attacked a man walking into the sitters apartment. When he is picked up and introduced to people he is just fine and then prefers them over others! He loves getting to know people once I say it is ok. I cannot see him going into a shelter so this is my last resort of finding a good family. He should have a yard and be the only dog.

I'm the epitome of calm and laid-back, and I absolutely love to snuggle up with my favorite blankets at home. Once I get to know you and trust you, I'll be your little shadow, happily following you around wherever you go. I am timid and shy when approached, but getting braver everyday. One of my absolute favorite things in the world is food—it's the quickest way to my heart! I'm doing great with potty and crate training – a little treat bribery helps! I do have a few fears. Thunderstorms, loud noises, children, and overwhelming commotion can make me quite anxious. Because of this, I'm not good with children under 12 years old and would do best in a calm, quiet home. We are working on leash training, but because I am fearful it would be nice to have a fenced yard as I need more practice with my outdoor explorations. I don't need to be placed in a home with another dog, but if there is another dog, I prefer smaller ones. Most importantly, I need my humans to be home most of the time because I thrive on companionship. I'm extremely sweet and lovable. Though I might be skittish at first, once I trust you, I'll show you just how loving and affectionate I can be. At home, I'm mellow but love to make good use of the toy box, especially when it comes to my favorite squeaky and crinkle toys. My absolute favorite is the bacon toy! I'm pretty social and get along with everyone. I always try to include myself in whatever is going on. While I can be a little hesitant at times, I'm not fearful or shy. I adapt well and love being part of the action. I'm still working on my potty training, but I'm making progress! I'm also learning to be comfortable in my crate. I eat in there, and although I might cause a bit of a ruckus at first, I do settle down eventually. We haven’t worked on leash training so I do require a fenced yard in my forever home.
