Brodie and his two sisters, Bubbles and Buttercup were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Their mom is a long-haired Chihuahua and their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd this year so they are nine months old. Brodie has been neutered, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. He’s also microchipped. He weighs just under 12 pounds and is probably full grown now. Brodie is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. He needs a little practice on the leash and he’s making great progress on his house training. Brodie absolutely loves being held! He is a real snuggler! He would be fine with older children, and he loves his sisters so after proper intro he would like other 4 legged family members. Buttercup and her sister and brother, Bubbles and Brodie were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Buttercup is a little bossy but plays great with her brother and sister. we feel like she would be fine with other dogs after getting to know them but would always want to be the boss. She would be fine with older children, and we are not sure about cats but the bossy part would be the same at first. He is a gentle, affectionate pup who enjoys being part of the action and will make a wonderful companion for a lucky family.Lotzo does have stage 3 Kindey Disease so this means he requires medical management through special food, supplements and routine lab work. He also has a suspected structural or neurological abnormality causing a strange gait with his back legs and a noticable back leg drag. Despite his ongoing medical needs, Lotzo is a very sweet boy looking for his perfect home. Will that be you?Estimated monthly cost of his special food and supplements are roughly $65/month. Please do not request a phone call. A per-sonal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Kala is a 5 year old, 22 pound female Shih Tzu/Bichon mix. She is a gorgeous caramel color and has beautiful long eye lashes. She came into rescue because her owner moved into an apartment which didn’t allow dogs. Kala enjoys going for walks and usually walks about a mile per day. She is very friendly and respectfully greets people and other dogs while on walks. She will sometimes play fetch with a ball or tug a war with one of her toys. She does like exercise, and runs outside to chase the resident rabbits and squirrels around the yard. A secure, fenced yard would be ideal for her. Kala is very sweet, well behaved, housetrained, and knows a few commands such as “sit” and “down”. She loves being with her foster parents and other people and will sit on your lap at every opportunity. She is good around other dogs and children, and would be a wonderful family dog. A family with older children who know how to engage with a small dog will be considered. Kala does require someone be at home with her the majority of the time and who will include her in their daily activities. She rides well in the car, and likes looking out the window, so hopefully her family will take her with them when appropriate. She likes nothing better than to be with her people, and that includes sleeping with them in their bed. These are the requirements for Kala’s new family: 1. Be home much of the day and include Kala in their daily activities. 2. A fenced yard would be wonderful, but is not a deal breaker, especially if Kala will be taken on long walks every day. She must have daily exercise to be happy. 3. A family with older, respectful children will be considered. 4. Live within 30 miles of Inver Grove Heights, MN. 5. Try to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September each year. Kala is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She has a history of urinary tract infections, which can recur, so her family must recognize the signs of an infection and have it treated immediately. Kala’s adoption fee is $370.00 plus $33.39 sales tax for a total fee of $403.39. To meet Kala, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph.
