This adorable Shih Tzu/Dachshund mix is as sweet as they come and has a quiet, loving nature that makes her easy to adore. One of the cutest things about Coco is the way she walks—she has a little bunny-hop style that is guaranteed to make you smile. Coco is happiest simply being near her people. She loves companionship, whether it’s from humans or other dogs, and is content to quietly follow you from room to room throughout the day. She enjoys cuddling, relaxing nearby, and keeping an eye on her favorite people. While she can be a little shy when first meeting new people, it doesn’t take long for her to realize she’s safe. Once she does, she becomes incredibly trusting and affectionate. Coco gets along wonderfully with all dog-friendly dogs and would enjoy having a canine companion. However, she does not require another dog as long as her people are home frequently and able to provide the companionship she loves. This sweet girl enjoys soft treats, cozy places to nap, and having a comfortable spot where she can watch for her people. Her favorite setup is her kennel with the door left open or a soft blanket-filled box near the doorway where she can keep an eye on everything while waiting for her family to return. As part of her daily routine, coco receives eye drops in the vending and 1/2 tablet of Benadryl twice a day with a little canned food. She’s very cooperative and does well with this. Coco isn’t looking for excitement or adventure—she’s looking for love. She would thrive in a home where she can be included in daily life, receive plenty of affection, and spend her days close to the people she loves most. Garth knows the commands “come” and “go potty!” Although, listening and following through are still a work in progress. He’s a curious little guy who loves going on walks and sniffing everything he can find. When he encounters something he isn’t quite sure about, he may jump and bark at it until he realizes there’s nothing to worry about. Garth enjoys playing independently and loves chewing on his toys and bones. He also likes to know where his people are and prefers to be able to see you and stay nearby. He does well in his crate, but if he hears you nearby,  he may start barking to let you know he’d like to come out. The good news is that he usually settles down pretty quickly. We’ve also learned that Garth benefits from designated quiet time. He’s still learning how to fully settle himself, but with some structure and downtime, he does very well. This little guy is sweet, silly, curious, and absolutely full of personality. Matilda is a sweet little girl looking for a family that will love having a tiny shadow by their side. She may be a little shy at first, but once she feels safe and comfortable, you’ll have a loyal best friend for life. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch, doing chores around the house, gardening in the backyard, or just going about your day, Matilda wants to be right there with you. She loves being involved in everything you do and is happiest when she’s close to her person. Matilda is quite the chatterbox! If you talk to her, she’ll happily “talk” right back. She also loves to play, and her absolute favorite toy is a ball. She’ll never say no to a game of fetch. She has done very well with cats and has also been good with other small dogs. Because Matilda likes to bark, especially when left alone, she would do best in a home without shared walls, such as a single-family home rather than an apartment or townhouse. Matilda appears to have some separation anxiety and doesn’t enjoy being left by herself for long periods. Hypothyroidism: This dog has hypothyroidism, a common condition where the thyroid gland doesn't produce enough thyroid hormone. Meet Sir!  Don’t let the fancy name fool you - Sir is a fun-loving, easygoing 4-year-old Shih Tzu mix who is ready to find his forever home! Sir was found roaming alone near an apartment building in the Twin Cities. His original owner did not claim him so he made his way to No Dog Left Behind for a new start in life. First things first, Sir got a much needed groom and is feeling quite dapper! Sir is friendly, well-mannered, and already has some great skills under his belt. He’s mostly potty trained, kennel trained, walks great on leash, and rides well in the car. Sir gets along well with other dogs and people of all ages. As with most small dogs, Sir does vocalize some when he sees interesting things outside or hears an odd noise. Sir loves his toys. He's very excited to bring his favorite stuffy, Lamby, to his forever home. He loves playing a good game of fetch or spending time outside. Initially, Sir was more of a “I’ll lay somewhat near you” kind of guy but, as he's gotten more comfortable in his foster home, he loves to stand on your lap/chest for side scritches or curl up near your lap.
