Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Muffin Top, the spirited pup named after the best part of the muffin! With a personality like a whirlwind of joy, Muffin Top was found locally in less-than-ideal circumstances. But with a fresh haircut and a newfound zest for life, she's now thriving and eager to find her forever home. Muffin is a young dog bursting with energy, still in full puppy mode with plenty of zoomies, playfulness, and a strong desire for snuggles. She would thrive with an active family who can match her enthusiasm and help her burn off that boundless energy. While she's a joy to be around, Muffin does have a tendency to bark at seemingly nothing in particular. Therefore, a home without shared walls would be ideal for her. She's made progress with potty training but will benefit from a structured routine, as she doesn't always signal when she needs to go out. Muffin lives with other dogs and gets along well with them. However, she sometimes struggles with respecting boundaries, as she always wants to play. She hasn't met a cat yet. Are you ready to welcome Muffin Top into your home and experience the fun and love she has to offer? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Snowball is a 2-year-old small mixed breed looking for a home with a lot of patience and tennis balls. He is a great combination of energy and snuggling. He loves to go on walks and run around the yard but also loves to snuggle and watch TV.  He’s never met a cat but likes to chase bunnies and squirrels so may chase cats also. He has had very little training so will need a home that has a lot of patience and experience with training dogs. He is very strong-willed and doesn’t like to be told what to do. Right now the focus is on potty training which is slowly progressing.  Snowball loves to bark at sounds and people so no shared walls for this guy.  He also has a strong need to resource guard his food and high value items which we are working on and will need to continue work in his new home. Because he is so protective of food he shouldn’t be in a home with young children.  If you are willing to take on the challenge of this sweet guy submit your application to meet with him.  He may be a lot of work but will be well worth it.       Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello, my name is Charleston! I am a dashing, calm, and very sweet senior male Shih Tzu who loves to sit on foster mom’s lap while she works. I’m not really into toys but I enjoy watching TV, sleeping in bed with mom at night, and I LOVE to eat food and treats, especially popcorn… YUUUMMM! Oh yea, I’m quite the dancer too! It’s true, in fact, I think my moves are better than Fred Astaire’s and I like to show off my dancing prowess whenever I want a treat or to be lifted onto the couch. By the way, I also did great at the groomer but then who doesn’t want to look all spiffy am I right!?! Anyway, I do not like being left alone and I hate the kennel/crate! As a matter of fact, I will bark in either of those situations so hopefully my new family will be home with me (and doesn’t have shared walls!). I am, however, good about doing my business outside on a schedule; I do well with the leash; and I’m great with kids, cats, and other small dogs like me. All I need now is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on me. I’m a patient guy with a wonderful soul and a heart that is brimming with love that I want to share with you! I really hope you’ll be my new family…I assure you that life will be MUCH better if we share it together! Love, Charleston *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
I am Noel. I am from Kentucky If you're looking for a hiking partner, look away! Noel's idea of an active life is going around the yard a couple times, followed by a nap. With a clean bill of health, this girl is ready to be someone's spoiled, pampered princess. And just like the Princess in the Princess and the Pea, this girl is sensitive. No kids and no rough handling for her. This girl needs an experienced owner who is willing to build trust, respect her boundaries and help her learn to feel safe and secure in higher stress situations like the vet. Noel currently lives with a cat and another small dog. She has little interest in either of them, but can get snappy with the other dog if he gets too close to her food. She can manage the three steps at the back door, but a full staircase from the first floor to the upstairs is a bit much from her, as is jumping up on the furniture. She'll happily fuss to let you know she wants up and is fine being carried up and down. Because of her sensitivity around rough hands, Noel is only available to homes with no children. While you'll need a little patience to win her full trust, this girl will reward you by making curling up at your side her favorite hobby. From the Vet: Hi! I'm Noel a spunky southern gal finally ready to be looking for my furever home! I came into rescue a few months ago and needed to have several medical issues addressed before I could commit to the search for a home. I came having already had a recent mammary mass removal surgery when I was still in Kentucky. The biopsy from that surgery was inconclusive so I was scheduled for a second mass removal surgery at which time it was determined that the masses were a non-cancerous benign growth. My future family should monitor for any future masses and consult a primary care vet if new masses present. I also had a dental procedure where 17 teeth were extracted. At home dental care is recommended to maintain oral health as much as possible. On my first exam, grade 2/4 MPL's (medial luxating patellas) were noted, however I am walking fine and not experiencing any lameness or pain. Currently, surgical intervention will not be needed. Joint supplements and other supportive care in addition to exercise and lean diet could be considered helpful. Hope to settle into a quiet, happy home in my later years!

Story
Hi, my name is Luna. I am from Minnesota. From her foster: Luna is a such good little dog! She gets the zoomies and goes nuts for a tennis ball (or a wool dryer ball!) She goes potty outside and takes some coaxing to go in her crate, but she's fine with a treat and sleeps soundly. She loves to go on walks and we're working on her leash manners - she's just so excited to sniff everything that she tugs. She ignores my resident cats and loves my 9 year old son. I think she would do best as an only dog.

These pups are in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota too!

Story
Benji's approximate date of birth is March 23, 2020. He has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has been 4DX tested. His adoption fee is $450.00 + tax. Benji Man is a little dude with a huge personality. He loves to snuggle in laps, he is super excited to go for walks and he is a man who knows what he wants! *As Benji settles in to rescue we are beginning to learn a little more about him. He is a super sweet little guy and loves to snuggle and give cute kisses. He loves to go for walks and will do a high vertical jump/bounce expressing how excited he is. He is very excitable on his walks when he sees squirrels, people, or other dogs. He can pull hard and will bark loud at them. He is kenneled overnight and does ok when the house is quiet. He has had a few accidents in his foster home, so a patient understanding new owner who is ok with working with this will be needed. He has cute zoomies and loves to run around with toys. He has been ok with some dogs and not ok with others and he barks at the cats that he sees, but has not had direct contact with any. We have been told from his previous owner that he is not good with children. It may be fun for Benji to just tell you a little more about who he is! Hi de ho everyone! My name is Benji; Ben Ben; Bouncy Ben; Benji Man. Whatever you wanna call me is fine, I like them all. I think that it's pretty cool to have so many cute names for me. I really like them all and am happy to respond to any. Not to brag, but I am ridiculously adorable! I know; cuz I have been told it so many times so it has to be true. I guess that I am a Lhasa Apso/Dachshund mix.. I have been told that may make me prone to liking to bark at squirrels, but in my defense.. there are so many of them right now! Cats are new to my world, so it may take me a while to have a chance to get used to them. I have liked to bark at the ones in my foster home, but I am getting better though. Maybe a confident cat that stands their ground with dogs may work? Just not sure yet. I have been nervous around dogs that are larger then me and have some sort of of reaction to them that doesn't bring out the best in me. I would have to say that I would not like to go to dog parks to meet strange dogs. They would make me way to uncomfortable and it wouldn't be fair to me to have so many unknown dogs approaching me.. especially if they are my size or larger. I have also not been comfortable around young children. They too, make me nervous. So, enough of the things about me that you might consider not perfect. I am amazing in so many ways that I'm pretty sure that there is someone out there that would think that I am just PERFECT; just the way I am!! I am adorable, cuddly, sweet and love to give cute kisses. I am happy to see you and love being by you. I sleep in a kennel quietly over night but I really think it could be cool if I had a chance to sleep in a bed with my new person and may just snuggle until you chose to start the day. I enjoy to go for walks and I love to explore different things and smells. Remember though, that I am pretty interested in squirrels right now, so keep my leash secured in your hand! I think that my perfect new home would have a securely fenced in yard. If you don't have a fence, understand that I feel that every squirrel needs to be ''inspected', so a secured harness and leash is needed. I don't think I should could to a home with a larger dog unless that dog doesn't scare me. I really just want someone to love me and help me with being the best companion that I can be. I promise to give you all the snuggles and kisses in return! If you think I could be your perfect companion; or if you would be interested in meeting me, please complete an adoption application at: www.savingtails.org Saving Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) is a 501(c)3 registered no-kill, non profit animal rescue. All animals are placed in loving foster homes until their forever family finds them. Because there is not a physical shelter location, foster homes are needed to help rescue local animals who are in danger of euthanasia. If you would be interested interested in fostering an animal in need; please complete an application at www.savingtails.orgJune 10, 2024, 6:31 pm
