Story
My name is Earnest, and I try very hard to be a good boy. I sit nicely when people come by because I know my basic commands, and I walk calmly on my leash so nobody has to worry about me pulling. The people here say I might be housebroken too, which makes me feel proud. I already know how to live in a home — I just need another chance to have one again. I may be an older dog, but that just means I know what matters. I love soft voices, kind hands, slow walks, and treats. Especially treats. If you have snacks, I will gladly show off my “sit” and my best manners. Sometimes people pass by my kennel looking for younger dogs, and I understand. But I wish they knew that older dogs like me have so much love left to give. I’m calm, gentle, neutered, and happiest when I’m close to someone who cares about me. Every day, I wait patiently and wag my tail when new people walk in. Maybe one of them will stop long enough to see me — really see me. I dream about a soft bed, a quiet home, and belonging to someone again. Until then, I’ll keep being sweet. I’ll keep hoping. And if you happen to have treats, I’ll love you immediately.

Story
My name is Cinder, and if you ask the people here, they’ll probably tell you I’m one of the sweetest girls you’ll ever meet. I’m the kind of dog who greets you with a wagging tail, soft eyes, and plenty of kisses the second you walk up to me. I just can’t help it — I love people. One of my favorite things is going for walks. I’m leash trained and so happy to stroll right beside you, taking in all the smells and enjoying every second together. Whether it’s a quick walk around the block or a slow evening adventure, I’m just excited to be by your side. I’m also very treat motivated, which means I’m always eager to learn and make you proud. Bring snacks, and I’ll happily show off my good manners with that big smile of mine. I try really hard to be a good girl every day. The people caring for me say my kennel stays very clean, so they think I may already be housebroken too. I like keeping my space tidy and comfortable, and I’m hoping that means settling into a home with you could be an easy transition. More than anything, I’m looking for someone to love. Someone who wants a loyal companion, a cuddle buddy, a walking partner, and a best friend all rolled into one happy dog. I have so much love to give, and I’m ready to share it with a family of my own. Could that family be yours?

Story
Hi, I’m Benji — and I’ve been told I’m the kind of dog that makes people smile the second they meet me. I’m a super friendly, happy-go-lucky pup who loves making new friends. Seriously, I think everyone is my new best friend. Whether we’re going on walks, playing with toys, or just hanging out together, I’m always ready to have fun. I’m also a huge fan of treats. If you’ve got snacks, I’ve got full attention and my best sit ready to go. I take treats nicely and get very excited anytime I hear a treat bag crinkle. The people taking care of me think I may already be housebroken because I try really hard to keep my space clean. I also walk well on a leash and enjoy getting outside to explore. I’d love to be your walking buddy or your couch companion — honestly, I’m happy doing just about anything as long as I’m with my people. What I want most is a family of my own. Someone to play with, cuddle with, and love forever. So if you’re looking for a sweet, playful dog with a big heart and an even bigger personality, I think we might be the perfect match. Love, Benji 🐾

Story
Meet Duke, a 5-year-old, playful, high-energy dog who is looking for a loving forever home. Duke is truly a great companion with a big heart and lots of personality. He is house trained, well-mannered, and knows basic commands like sit and shake. He’s also very good at letting you know when he needs to go outside to potty.Duke absolutely loves kids and would thrive in a home where he can play, run, and burn off his energy. He enjoys attention, playtime, and being part of the family. He would do best with an active household that can give him the time and space he deserves.A couple things to note about Duke:* He does experience anxiety during storms, but he settles well with his prescribed anxiety medication (typically just a half dose when needed).* He has not been raised around other dogs, so he does not do well with them and would be best as the only pet in the home. This is a very hard decision, as Duke is deeply loved, but due to a recent move I am no longer able to keep him.

Story
He can be very possessive/aggressive over things. He has bitten my kids and husband in the past but he's been good about not doing it now. He's about 3 years old, he has a lot of energy. So I would suggest that someone with a yard to adopt him, due to his high energy. He's a sweet dog, he just needs someone who's willing to take the time to get to know him and love him.

Story
Bear is an 8 month old male Australian Cattle Dog mix, whose adorably expressive ears and hopeful smile are sure to win your heart! He is a shy, tender-hearted pup who’s still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Bear was a young puppy when brought into the shelter with his siblings, so he has basically grown up without knowing the comforts of a home. Yet Bear has so many wonderful traits that will make him an amazing companion, with his lovable nature, adorable playfulness, and gentle spirit. Plus he is young and eager to learn from his human friends. Bear doesn’t ask for much, simply hoping to find a loving family to call his own … the ones who will give him the security and love to allow him to blossom into the loyal devoted companion he was born to be! The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip.Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA.
