— Important: Please complete the adoption application before reaching out. We do not respond to online inquiries. Only approved adoption applicants will be contacted. — Adoption Application: https://airtable.com/appJMHBItTE2RWdqD/shrsP6tKWM2HcFZ Meet Vinny – your new best friend! *Way cuter in person Vinny is a 2-year-old, neutered Labrador Retriever / Redbone Coonhound / Staffy mix (our best guess), weighing about 35 pounds of pure joy. With his rich chocolate coat and expressive eyes, he even resembles Santa’s Little Helper from The Simpsons — and his personality is just as lovable. Vinny is truly the definition of a good boy. He is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night without fuss. On walks, he’s attentive, and easy to handle. He enjoys getting out and exploring but also knows how to settle and relax once he’s home. Vinny has a heart of gold and a playful side to match. He loves toys of all kinds — tough chews, plushies, squeaky toys — and he engages with them in a happy, enthusiastic way. He’s affectionate without being overwhelming and thrives on human connection. Because Vinny spent time in a shelter environment before entering our program, we are continuing to build his confidence and social skills through structured training and day camps with Mirror Image K9. He is learning quickly and making steady progress. Through our Best Chance Program, we sponsor post-adoption training sessions to ensure long-term success. Not because Vinny is “difficult,” but because we believe every dog deserves a strong, structured foundation in their new home. We support our adopters every step of the way. If you’d like to learn more about our training philosophy and how we create lasting bonds between dogs and families, listen to our podcast: Think Like a Dog https://thinklikeadog.buzzsprout.com Vinny is ready for a home that will continue investing in him and allow him to keep thriving. If you’re looking for a loyal, happy companion with a playful spirit and a soft heart, Vinny may be your match.

Meet Bug – A Miniature Schnauzer with a Big Personality! Atlanta, GA | 2.5 years old | Fully Vetted & Neutered Bug is a true Miniature Schnauzer through and through, smart, determined, and full of personality. At just under 20 lbs, he may be small in size, but don’t let that fool you. Bug is a working dog at heart and thrives when he’s mentally and physically fulfilled. If you're familiar with the breed, you’ll understand the quirks that make him so special. If you're new to Miniature Schnauzers, here's the quick scoop: they're intelligent, alert, spirited, and happiest when they have a job to do. Bug isn’t your typical lap dog, he’s not looking to be carried around or doted on all day. He’s looking for a partner. He loves structured walks, training, learning new skills, and going on adventures. He needs a home that understands his mind and embraces the joy of working with their dog, not just having one around. Bug originally came to us after being dumped at a shelter. He was adopted through our program by a loving family, but unfortunately, they couldn’t follow through with the structure and training Bug depends on to feel safe and confident. He became anxious and overwhelmed, and we made the decision to welcome him back. Since returning, Bug has absolutely flourished. He’s a dream on the leash, loves his crate, settles beautifully on “place,” and is an all-around gentleman when given the leadership he needs. He’s proof that the right environment, one with guidance, patience, and understanding, makes all the difference. If you’re ready to build a real relationship with a dog like Bug, we’d love to chat. We offer training support to help adopters set their dogs up for long-term success, not because Bug needs it, but because he deserves it. Want to learn more about our training philosophy? Listen to our podcast, Think Like a Dog, where we talk all about Bug, our methods, and how to create lasting bonds with dogs just like him. https://thinklikeadog.buzzsprout.com PLEASE COMPLETE THE ADOPTION APPLICATION FIRST. Story
I'm Sprout, and I am a snuggle bug, big fan of the stuffy toy fetch game, and a devoted fan of the show Slow Horses. I am 110% dachshund. I have it ALL -- everything you've heard about dachshunds? I've got it. Snuggly? Check. Food motivated? Yup. Nosy up in all your business? Oh yeah. Demanding of attention? See "nosy." Burrow under blankies? All the time. Funny? SO FUNNY. Sweet kisses? I got 'em. Prey drive? Oh yeah. Show me the squirrel. And if you have a shed, I will get under it to hunt. . I'm 9 pounds of love and pure nerve. I love my people and I love my doggie friends. I'm a big fan of the couch cuddle -- with both people and doggies -- and of the doggie wrestling. I LOVE playing fetch and I love hangout time. Adults and kiddos over 10 only please. I had a disc rupture (darn dachshund genes) but I walk almost normally now. I can run and play with a fun little wobble but I cannot do stairs. (I can climb a ramp.) I have pretty good control of my bladder but if you give me a little extra squeeze when we go outside (foster mom will teach you), I don't leak in the house unless I get too full. Expressing a dog is easy peasy and foster mom is an expert teacher. If you keep me on a schedule, I do just fine. I have done physical therapy to improve my core strength. PILATES, anyone? I sometimes do not realize I am pooping, but most of the time I do well. I am a delight to be around and a real charmer. When someone new comes to the house, I will bark, but as soon as they pay the "Sprout Tax" (treats), we can be besties and I will want to be in their lap. I am protective, like most dachshunds -- someone has to do it! If you are interested in adopting Sprout, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Sprout's adoption fee is $400. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Sprout will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter

Story
Midnight ended up at animal control after his owners abandoned him at a clinic. He was held for a while but with so many dogs he ended up on the euthanasia list. Can you imagine? This little guy is a very nice dog with a great temperament. He loves to hang with his people way more than the other dogs at his foster home so he could be an only dog or live with the other canines that have a chill temperament His foster family believe he is mixed with corgi or other herding breed because he has a habit of jumping and mouthing to get attention. Midnight is not really a vocal dog. But when he has something to say it is in a a "Big Dog" bark but the good news is he's not a huge barker unless he's excited about something. Midnight sleeps quietly in a crate like a gentleman. Midnight is completely potty trained. He no longer takes any medicine for anything but when he did he took it like a champ. He loves to chase a ball and bring it back to you to throw again. He loves to go for loooooooong leash walks. He needs a home with people that will dedicate time to his daily walks. This guy absolutely loves to explore the back yard and will definitely need a fenced yard. He is working on waiting but still is a BIG Door Darter. He is very excited to GO, GO, GOI! A home with adults and everyone over 16yrs is needed so he doesn’t sneak out past a kiddo. ✅ Sweet guy ✅ loves to walk & play with toys ✅ crate trained 🚫 door dasher so no young kiddos ✅ housetrained ✅ smart and eager to learn ✅ fenced yard If you are interested in adopting Midnight, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Midnight's adoption fee is $500. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Story
Boscoe is new to DREAM only in his foster home a few days. Boscoe has a number of talents and his foster mom calls him a smart Houdini. He quickly figured out how to open pocket doors to get into another room. He will push doors open if they are not latched. He prefers to stay within sight of his person. He has started snuggling and we are sure he will pass the ultimate snuggles exam with flying colors. Boscoe is about 90% house trained especially when his cues are picked up and he’s let outside for a potty break. He definitely needs a secure fenced yard as he likes to explore and looks for ways to escape. He's not shown any signs of being a digger but he has shown tendencies to be a door darter. Boscoe is very athletic and can jump up on the couch. He's also showing some separation anxiety but getting better. He's good with dogs and people but much prefers his people over another dog. Boscoe does NOT like to be crated and will chew the metal on the crate as his anxiety escalates being in there. He's not suited for apartment living as he can be vocal-howling and barking, specifically if he isn’t feeling secure. He's getting better and his foster mom thinks he's just having a hard time adjusting to a new environment. Boscoe has not shown great interest in food or treats and has been a bit picky with both. This also may change as he settles into his foster home. If you are interested in adopting Boscoe, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Boscoe's adoption fee is $700. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Story
Meet Elvis 💙 Elvis is a young, purebred piebald Dachshund with soulful eyes and a soft heart. After losing his family, he’s understandably unsure of the world — but underneath that uncertainty is a deeply loving, loyal boy who just wants his person. Elvis is wonderful with other dogs and remains completely non-aggressive, even if another dog challenges him. He’s kind with kids and friendly with everyone he meets. He loves people and wants to follow you from room to room just to be near you. He loves to snuggle and be close — though he’s not much of a blanket burrower. He prefers to press up against you instead. At night, he wants to sleep in your room. Elvis enjoys chewing on antlers, Benebones, and plush toys. He’ll often proudly carry a toy outside with him — and then forget it in the yard. Fetch is still new and a bit confusing; if a toy is thrown, he’s more likely to look surprised than chase it. Squeaky toys, the oven timer, and the vacuum are new noises for him and make him nervous. He may run away from them, but he will come back around once they stop. He will go outside to potty, but he’s not fully housetrained yet and will need consistency and patience while he learns. A belly band has been helpful and usually stays dry. Like many young dogs who haven’t had much structure, he has chewed inappropriate items (paper, eyeglasses, etc.), so he’ll need supervision and guidance as he learns what’s his and what’s not. All of this simply tells us that Elvis was likely very sheltered and didn’t get the confidence-building exposure that most puppies receive. He is not difficult — he is just inexperienced. He’s already showing growth. With calm leadership, patience, and gentle exposure to new experiences, this sweet boy is going to blossom. Elvis needs someone willing to help him discover the world safely. In return, you’ll get a devoted little shadow with a loyalty that runs deep. If you believe in second chances and soft landings, Elvis may be waiting just for you. 🐾 If you are interested in adopting Elvis, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Elvis's adoption fee is $800. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. [Pet Name] will go to his / her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expense is greater than our adoption fees; we are non-profit. **Elvis is a Legacy Dog. Legacy Dogs are highly adaptable dogs that can assist other dogs in our rescue with their vetting bills. Legacy dogs have a much higher desirability quotient. They're young, healthy and usually purebreds. These dogs leave a financial legacy for those animals who need extra help - whether they need extensive medical care or just a little more time to find a loving home. (And they still cost less than going to a breeder!) DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.
