Story
Little Miss Winnie came in as a stray, so we do not know her history, but while she has been as the shelter she has been a good girl. She is shy at first but warms up to new people. She seems to be dog selective. It appears she would be great at being the only dog or need slow introductions to other dogs. She has responded better with male dogs. Though she may be older she still loves her toys If you would like to meet Winnie and see if she would be a fit for your family, contact Oak Grove Animal Control and Shelter at 816-690-3773 ext, 1006

Story
Cooper is an older gentleman weighing around 75 pounds. But don't tell him he is a senior or a big dog. He thinks he's young and smaller than he is. He loves his toys and going on walks, so he take in all the different smells. Cooper came in as a stray and has been a good boy at the shelter. He seems to like other dogs. Cats, well, he would need to learn that they don't like to play "Pounce the kitty" If you would like to meet this guy, please contact Oak Grove Animal Control and Shelter at 816-690-3773 ext. 1006

Oak Grove, MO
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Peanut is a sweet girl that was apparently left in a store parking lot. She was missing quite a bit of hair and was a bit timid when first picked up. But a trip to the vet to find out it was allergies and given an allergy shot she is doing well now. As you can see in her pictures, after just a short time her hair is coming back in and she is sweet and loves people. She does best with a slow introduction with people as her trust has been betrayed in the past. Peanut is quick though to start loving any new person that she trusts. Being a young dog, she is happy and seems to be very dog friendly. Peanut is just looking for a new home that will continue to give the the love she has received in the shelter, that she didn't have before. If you would like to meet Peanut and see if she would be a fit for your family, please contact Oak Grove Animal Control and Shelter at 816-690-3773 ext. 1006

Story
I got Anubis as a puppy from a pet store. He's 9 years old now. He's a great friend and super lovey! And always wanting attention. He's fun and energetic. Super excited to be around people especially kids. All in all just a good boy who needs a loving family to spend the rest of his years with. I would love it if I could continue to receive updates on him after his rehoming just to know hes doing good. Or maybe even see him still on occassion if that would be okay with his new family. But all in all just want to be sure he's being taken good care of and with people who will love him.

Story
Niko is a special guy, he's eager to learn, goofy boy who loves squeaky toys and snuggling. He's huge at 83 pounds he's a tall strong dog, with great agility. We adopted him as a companion for our female dog in January from kcpet project. They play non stop, however he is reactive to other dogs on leash. He also has bitten a dog a dog daycare in February for which he was removed. I would recommend no other dogs or cats at home with this boy. He resource guards toys and places like beds or sofas for that reason he isn't allowed on furniture. He also currently lives with 2 teenagers who are scared of him due to his resource guarding behaviors, reacting to my children but not me or my husband. A home without children would be ideal. He came to me untrained and with no history. In 3 months he has learned sit, stay, down, shake, up, place, stand, come, leave it, wait, and off. He likes baths, bike rides with bike harness, long walks, and lots of pets! p>

Lhasa Apso

Male, Senior
Lees Summit, MO
Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Not good with kids, Good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
We believe Sidney is about 14 years old. Sidney was found as a stray about 13 years ago and lived with my mother -in-law for 10 years and was a great companion for her. We have been caring for Sidney for 3 years as my mother-in-law had to move to memory care. He is a great companion for an older person. I would not recommend a home with small children. He likes a slower pace. He is a senior dog in good health, vaccines up to date and recently groomed. He does require grooming about every 6 to 7 weeks to look his best. My husband and I recently retired and have multiple long trips planned and would love to find Sidney a good home as he will be boarding a lot. Boarding is stressful for him and it was not in our plan to own a pet at this stage in our lives. Sidney is a good walker, never pulls at the leash. He has lived with a cat and really just ignored the cat, didn't bother him.
