Story
Stevie walked into our lives during a really tough time for our family. My son’s best friend needed open-heart surgery, and then when he was supposed to go back home the family’s home burned to the ground so they moved. Stevie just needed a safe place to stay, and he ended up with us for two wonderful years. He’s crate trained, and every night he knows to curl up in his crate and sleep, a quiet, reassuring presence in our home. He loves kids, he’s gentle with cats and other animals, and he is absolutely a sweetheart. He already knows the command Sit and is still learning Stay. Sadly, we’re being asked to leave our home in 30 days, and we can’t take dogs with us. I’m hoping Stevie can find a loving family or a kind person who will spoil him and give him the chance to live his best life—perhaps with a nice backyard or farmland where he can run and explore. Stevie deserves a forever family who will cherish him as much as we do. If you’d like to meet him or learn more, please reach out.

Story
The video is from when she was a pup and didnt understand TV, has settled down a bit since. Robin is a good dog when she isnt kenneled all day. She is good with kids, cats or dogs if she knows them. She is super playful and has a lot of energy especially when meeting new friends .She seems to prefer me, the man of the house and obeys pretty well to my low voice commands. She does many tricks for treats or just for your attention. She knows sit, roll over, crawl, shake, speak, corner, kennel. Not so great at stay. She loves to snuggle and horseplay. Shes very strong for being 33 lb. My son is very allergic to her, so unfortunately Robin spends most of her time in the basement. My wife needs foot surgery and cannot take her on walks and I work too much. Lately she has been growling at my wife when she is told to go to the kennel. She spends too much time in the kennel and is not getting enough exercise, play and love. She needs a snuggle person who can spend the time and energy

Story
Vicky is just over a year old and she is full of SPUNK. This girl will keep you on your toes. If you want a lazy, calm dog...she is not girl! That isn't to say she can't calm down, because she can...but if she has a choice she wants to go and see what life has to offer. Vicky is dog unsure. She doesn't seem to have had proper socialization with dogs and has no idea how to behave. She's totally all about her person though. She knows how to sit and she is HIGHLY food motivated. I mean I think this girl would do anything for her kibbles! She's got the energy and the passion to learn a lot. Vicky is probably 65-70 pounds. She's spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Vicky's adoption fee is $200. At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. We take in special cases some of which will stay with us as a sanctuary dog.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect Dog this means they have special needs and special requirements for potential adopters. If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect RESIDENT this animal is NOT available for adoption and is one of our sanctuary residents. We list them on our sites because they still matter and they still need donations to help with their long term care.Check out our website for more information: http://www.autumnacres.org

Story
If you're looking for that bully breed smile and cuddling personality then Sadie is your girl! She's all love and wiggles with humans and doesn't know a stranger. She is good with most other dogs, but can be over reactive to high arousal situations. Meaning no dog parks for this girl. She loves to play with toys and will throw the toy and chase it down herself. She loves her people and wants to be with you. She doesn't like cats and she's nervous in new situations. Sadie came from a terrible hoarding situation. (https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/ray-county-sheriffs-office-breaks-up-puppy-mill-50-to-70-dogs-found-on-property) she is looking for a forever home willing to give her stability, rules, and help her be her best self. Sadie is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Pony Girl (so named for the Stay Golden Ponyboy line from The Outsiders) has had a very tough life so far. When you look at her eyes in the photos, cant you just see it? This girl has been thru hell, and may never fully regain her coatbut doesnt she deserve love? A home? We were told this girl was left locked in a crate in a basement for days on end. Her skin got worse and worse due to this neglect and then the lady who was doing this to her was kicked out and the senior guy who owned the home brought her upstairs into his home, but he never took her to the vet either. He was in poor health and had multiple strokes but was trying to take care of the dog. He ended up going to a nursing home and the dog was left home alone. He had a doggy door set up so she could go in and out. Neighbors stopped by to feed her and then the landlord reached out for help. Pony Girl spent several weeks at our vet getting some much needed medical attention. Then she went to a boarding place to continue with medicate baths and treatment. We were lucky enough to find her a foster home and learn a bit more about Pony Girl. Unsurprisingly she has some separation anxiety and crate issues to work thru. Her ideal home has someone who is home predominantly and has another dog. Pony Girl loves other dogs and LOVES people. When you are home shes chill and wants affection. Shes housebroken and leash trained. Now for the nitty gritty on her skin issue. The damage was long term and untreated for so long it MAY have permanently affected her. She may NEVER have a full coat of hair again. Right now, shes getting medicated baths 2 times a week and she does good for her baths. Shes also on medication to help prevent itching and clear up the infection. She will be going in for another recheck soon and we will see what they recommend for continuing care. PonyGirl could totally use sponsors for her care. Its $510 a month between her boarding ($360) and her medications. We are a 501c3 non profit, so donations are tax deductible.
