Story
DOB:  4/26/24                Approx Weight: 47 Lbs Adoption Fee: $300 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Meet Oakley, a handsome 2-year-old Aussiedoodle with a BIG personality and an even bigger heart! He’s a high-energy, playful boy who thrives in a home that can keep up with him—both physically and emotionally. He’s been very spoiled with love and attention, and he’s hoping to find a family who’s excited to continue that trend. He would do best in a home with another dog to play with or with a family that can devote plenty of time, affection, and engagement to him. He’s wonderful with kids ages 10 and up—he’s basically a big, goofy horse who loves to play and doesn’t always realize his size, so older kids are the perfect match for his enthusiasm. He is “mouthy” in a pawsitive way! This sweet guy loves treats (they are the way to his heart), and he’s kennel trained. His kennel is his safe space—he happily sleeps through the night in it and enjoys relaxing there with his favorite toys, squishies, and doggy bones. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, energetic companion who will shower you with affection and keep life exciting, this Aussiedoodle might just be your perfect match.  Will do best with a fenced yard. I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
Approx. DOB: 3/15/25                 Approx Weight: 35pds Adoption Fee:      includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Jimmy looks to be Border collie and Heeler mix but he could also have some Pointer also. It's all a guess. Jimmy is a really well behaved young boy. You might expect to find these breeds of dogs with a lot of boundless energy but he is a very neutral kind of boy. Loves to play with all sizes of dogs and loves to be around people without wanting to jump up on anyone. Jimmy is such a great size of dog. He would be great for most any family. He is a well behaved fella in the home. At the moment we don't know if he is housebroken because we are lacking on foster homes so he is staying in our small boarding facility. He keeps his area clean so hopefully that's a good sign. He has been neutered crated a couple of times and did great.     Jimmy is a really quiet boy. We have only heard him bark when a stranger approached. When other dogs are barking at everything in sight he just stays observant without the ruckus.  He has walked well on a leash for us and never tries to jump up on us. He keeps all 4 feet grounded. Fill out that app today to meet this gorgeous boy.    I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Story
DOB:  11/08/2025                            Current Weight(as of  2/13/26): 4.4 lbs Adoption Fee: $500 includes 1 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Please only apply if you have deeply considered what it will take to welcome one of these pups into your home. Kit Kat is an adorable, lovable, smart, playful lil girl. She's just as energetic as she is sweet! Considering her vision impairment, it did not take her long to figure out the layout of the rooms in her foster home. Although she was a little more independent the first few weeks in foster, she is now so comfortable in her environment. She comes running when we call her, and she's so loving and affectionate towards her foster humans. She loves to cuddle now! She will fall asleep on her foster mom or sister, but only after a lot of play time and running around. Kit Kat becomes so excited to greet us in the morning or any time that we come home! Not only does her tail wag so fast, so does her little body. When she's super excited, like when it's time to eat or go outside, she'll spin in circles as she walks. It's the cutest thing! She'll need a patient and understanding family, that will be dedicated to her training.   Butterfinger and Kit Kat were recently diagnosed with congenital cataracts and were evaluated by Dr. Sisler at Eye Care for Animals. Currently they have 15%-35% vision. Because they are still young and their eyes are continuing to grow, the cataracts are progressing as well. Dr. Sisler has recommended re-evaluating them when they are a bit older to monitor any changes and determine the best next steps.   In the future, they may require medicated eye drops, and there is a possibility they could develop glaucoma, though this is not certain. When they are approximately one year old, both puppies are expected to be good candidates for cataract surgery. This procedure is typically very successful and can restore vision. The estimated cost of surgery ranges from $7,000–$7,500.   Several members of our group have had this surgery performed on their own dogs through Eye Care for Animals — including one over eight years ago — and all were successful, with their dogs retaining their eyesight. Based on this experience, we are hopeful about their long-term outlook.    Furry Kids will be giving special consideration to applicants who are prepared to move forward with treatment if recommended. To help support their future care, Furry Kids will contribute $2100 (approx. 30%) toward the cost of surgery if it is performed by Dr. Sisler at Eye Care for Animals.  Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty. Please make sure that you have a “potty plan” in place if considering adoption. All of our puppies have been spay/neuter, wormed, microchipped, and given age appropriate vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/adopting one of them just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch. Story
Approx. DOB: 3/12/21                Approx. Weight: 40 Lbs Adoption Fee: $200 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Callie can climb chain link fences so a wood or wrought iron fence would work best or an active family that will take her on walks. She loves going for walks, jogs and runs! Hi, I'm Callie.I am roughly 3.5 years old and full of lots of energy. I love my humans, especially the little ones - they're my favorite people. I love other dogs but need to be in a home with other dogs my size because I sometimes forget how big I am compared to the little ones. I don't mind cats too much, but sometimes they scare me. I get a bath once a month and I need my nails trimmed every two weeks.I love to play outside, but it's best if a friend goes with me because I get the zoomie zooms and I can jump pretty high, sometimes over a fence or up a tree. I'm not quite sure about toys, but am slowly learning to play with them. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell if it's a dog toy or human toy, so I'll need help learning which ones are mine. I graduated from K-9 citizenship school and my trainer says I'm the best girl and I can sit, shake, laydown and sometimes stay, although we're still working on that. So sometimes I'll dart out the front door, so be sure to tell me to sit and stay before you open the door. I don't really mind the kennel for short periods of time if you give me something to chew on. I need help during the Fourth of July, the big booms really scare me, so please ask the doctor for medicine to help keep me calm.I love my kibble, but if you could make it wet in the morning - that's my favorite way to eat it. I eat about two cups of food a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. I don't usually eat more than that, but on days that I'm extra active, I might need more. Callie was just treated for heartworms so it is very important that she stay on heartworm prevention year round for the rest of her life.  I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped. Story
DOB: 11/28/17                Approx. Weight: 6 Lbs Adoption Fee: $275 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Lola is an 8-year-old Maltese and a retired breeder mama who is finally getting the chance to just be a dog. She is absolutely adorable and has the kind of gentle presence that quietly melts your heart. She has a very sweet personality and truly shines around other small dogs, whom she loves to play with. While she’s still shy with humans, she’s learning that people can be kind and safe, and she does best with patience, routine, and a calm environment. Lola is currently working on house training and making progress as she adjusts to life in a home. Like many dogs who haven’t had this experience before, she just needs consistency and understanding while she learns. One thing she’s already mastered? Dinner time. When Lola is hungry, she will confidently stomp right up to you and bark to make sure you didn’t forget—proof that there’s a little sass hiding under that shy exterior ‍&#226&#153&#128&#239&#184&#143 Her ideal home would be a quiet, loving household, with another small dog to help her feel confident, and humans who are willing to let her move at her own pace. In return, you’ll get a gentle soul who is learning how wonderful it is to be someone’s cherished companion. Lola is not a lap dog, she is held every day but at this time her foster Mom doesn't feel like she enjoys it. Lola did have a dental and lost all of her teeth except two. She currently eats canned food sp[rinkled with small dry kibble with a little warm water added. Lola does not walk on a leash so she will need a fenced yard to keep her safe when going outside. I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped.
