Story
Approx. DOB: 3/24/24                Approx. Weight: 45 Lb Adoption Fee: $250 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness!      Winnie is so gorgeous with her orangeish color fur. It's so thick and in great shape. Winnie is young and full of life. She loves to chase the other dogs in the group to play tag or just to see who the fastest runner is. We haven't witnessed any dominance or aggressiveness towards any of the other dogs. She can sometimes think she is a smaller dog but doesn't realize she is playing a bit too rough. It's on accident and it happens when she thinks patting them on the back is OK but she accidently rolls them over. The dogs haven't been hurt because it's a gentle roll over.  A quick correction and she listens so well.     She listens really well but being young you need to be firm in your voice. Winnie would be thrilled to go to obedience classes. We are still learning more about her everyday and from what we have learned so far she is going to make a terrific companion for some lucky family.      I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible.   Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
Approx. DOB: 3/12/21                Approx. Weight: 40 Lbs Adoption Fee: $200 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Callie can climb chain link fences so a wood or wrought iron fence would work best or an active family that will take her on walks. She loves going for walks, jogs and runs! Hi, I'm Callie.I am roughly 3.5 years old and full of lots of energy. I love my humans, especially the little ones - they're my favorite people. I love other dogs but need to be in a home with other dogs my size because I sometimes forget how big I am compared to the little ones. I don't mind cats too much, but sometimes they scare me. I get a bath once a month and I need my nails trimmed every two weeks.I love to play outside, but it's best if a friend goes with me because I get the zoomie zooms and I can jump pretty high, sometimes over a fence or up a tree. I'm not quite sure about toys, but am slowly learning to play with them. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell if it's a dog toy or human toy, so I'll need help learning which ones are mine. I graduated from K-9 citizenship school and my trainer says I'm the best girl and I can sit, shake, laydown and sometimes stay, although we're still working on that. So sometimes I'll dart out the front door, so be sure to tell me to sit and stay before you open the door. I don't really mind the kennel for short periods of time if you give me something to chew on. I need help during the Fourth of July, the big booms really scare me, so please ask the doctor for medicine to help keep me calm.I love my kibble, but if you could make it wet in the morning - that's my favorite way to eat it. I eat about two cups of food a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. I don't usually eat more than that, but on days that I'm extra active, I might need more. Callie was just treated for heartworms so it is very important that she stay on heartworm prevention year round for the rest of her life. She was born on a farm with her 2 sisters Sweet Pea and Skylar. The sisters had no socialization and are still learning everyday that humans can be gentle and kind.     Summer is deaf. We have started working with her on hand signals along with using a non aggressive collar to get her attention. It was recommended by professionals. She is a very gentle girl. She needs a home that will be willing to continue working with her. A very, very patient family that has the time, love and dedication to give her.     She loves toys and Summer loves other dogs. Story
Approx. DOB: 3/17/23                 Approx. Weight: 38 lBS Adoption Fee: $200 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Miss Darla is looking for a family as wonderful as herself. Her foster mom says she is house and crate trained.  She will whine to let you know she needs to go out. Darla has loved playing with the dogs in her foster home because they are all even tempered like her. The dogs that are bossy and dominant she does not like. Darla loves to play tag, tug and chase with her furry friends.  The yard she plays in has a 4'  chain link fence and she has never tried to get out or over it.  She will sometimes play fetch unless the ball or toy interest her more then returning it... LOL. Darla has been working on walking on leash wearing a harness,  which we include with her adoption, plus her collar and leash. Approx. DOB: 11/15/24               Weight as of 5/27/26: 35 Lbs Adoption Fee: $250 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Pictures are coming soon Skylar was released to us from owners who could no longer care for her.     Skylar has beautiful baby blue eyes. This sweet princess was so scared of us just a few weeks ago but now comes to us, wants us to pet her and love on her.  She is still timid and very shy with new people so she will be going to petco every Saturday to socialize her with lots of new people.      Skylar has done great playing with new dogs. She gets overwhelmed with the larger dogs but is learning to trust them.  Some of them play too rough so she tends to try and avoid those dogs.     Skylar is doing great with her crate training but still needs time, patience and love in helping her to master this skill. Come meet this beautiful pup. Story
DOB: 12/24/19                              Weight: 75 Lbs Adoption Fee: $175 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Indy is 75 pounds of cuteness and cuddles. He loves cuddling next you on a couch or bed. He does good on walks especially when walking trails away from cars and other dogs.  Not a fan of loud noises like fireworks or close thunder/lightning. CBD oil and thunder jackets help but only when he is leaning against you. Has not been around any cats or small children. He does good with teenagers and adults, but it takes time to feel safe around them. Ice cubes are his favorite, and he knows the sound of the ice machine. Knows when it is bedtime and just heads to sleep in his bed with his blanket. Likes to be tucked in his blanket at night. He knows the basic commands and knows to sit to wait for his food dish to be put down. Only toy he hasn’t destroyed in a few minutes is a size 5 soccer ball (slightly deflated). He does love to play fetch with a tennis ball and chase after the soccer ball.  Plays great with puppies and is gentle with them. Food can never be around because he resource guards his food from other dogs, so we feel he should be an only dog in his family because of this. He takes treats very gently.   Indy has been neutered, wormed, microchipped, and heartworm tested and vaccinated. If you are interested in meeting/adopting him just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.
