Story
DOB: 12/24/19                              Weight: 75 Lbs Adoption Fee: $175 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Indy was adopted as a puppy and returned recently.  Notes from previous family: Indy is 75 pounds of cuteness and cuddles. He loves cuddling next you on a couch or bed. He does good on walks especially when walking trails away from cars and other dogs. The grey pullover is his favorite to wear on walks when it is cold or raining. Not a fan of loud noises like fireworks or close thunder/lightning. CBD oil and thunder jackets help but only when he is leaning against you. Has not been around any cats or small children. He does good with teenagers and adults, but it takes time to feel safe around them. Ice cubes are his favorite, and he knows the sound of the ice machine. Knows when it is bedtime and just heads to sleep in his bed with his blanket. Likes to be tucked in his blanket at night. He knows the basic commands and knows to sit to wait for his food dish to be put down. Only toy he hasn’t destroyed in a few minutes is a size 5 soccer ball (slightly deflated). He does love to play fetch with a tennis ball and chase after the soccer ball.  Plays great with puppies and is gentle with them. Food can never be around because he is very food aggressive towards other dogs so we feel he should be an only dog in his family because of this. He is NOT food aggressive towards people, ever. He takes treats very gently.    OLD PROFILE: previously known as Gerard Butler Our super star “G” pups were born in our care on Christmas Eve!  Their Mom Polly came to us very pregnant and we do not know who the papa was.  These pups are so very sweet and will make a great addition to any family!  These pups are active and fun and will do best with a fenced yard to play safely and potty.  My name is Gerard Butler after the actor. I'm a really sweet boy. I love other dogs and even kitties.I'm going to make some lucky family really happy when they adopt me because of my wonderful disposition and temperament. I love everyone and am ready for my new family to come take me home  Please remember there are certain cities that do not allow Pit Bulls as well as most apartment complexes.  Indy has been neutered, wormed, microchipped, and heartworm tested and vaccinated. If you are interested in meeting/adopting him just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.  Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Approx. DOB:  8/08/19                Approx Weight: 26.5 Lbs Adoption Fee: $175 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Woody needs a very patient experienced dog person, he prefers women. Must have a fenced yard and must be a quieter home and lifestyle. No children. He came to us from a bad situation. Initially, he was dumped in the country and has been with this person for weeks. They have searched the lost and found sites to be sure he wasn't lost.... Nothing.  He was adopted for a couple of months but never warmed up to the husband so he was returned. He has been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Story
Approx. DOB: 8/23/20                Approx Weight: 51 Lbs Adoption Fee: $200 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Rocky is very sweet, a little shy at first but warms up quickly. He can be goofy and silly sometimes. He is housebroken and crate trained, however if left alone for 8+ hours in a crate he becomes very stressed and will have accident. He has been started on a anti depressant that really helps his anxiety when left alone. He is calmer now and has had no accidents since starting it. He gets along well with other dogs, but does not care for large male dogs that try to dominate him. He is a lover and really doesn't want to fight so he tries to bluff his way out of them. He has done well with children at our Petco events but there are no children in his foster home.  He will need a fenced yard and would do best with someone that works from home or has someone at home most of the time. Rocky is a love bug and really enjoys being brushed, snuggled with and just hanging out with the family. Rocky is going to make some family a wonderful companion. I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Story
Approx. DOB: 7/13/14                 Approx Weight: 71 pds Adoption Fee: $150    includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Dozer would do best with children over the age of 10 years old. Dozer is just the sweetest boy but he has a rough past to overcome in his life. This past causes him to have some initial trust issues with new people. Especially men. He will bark when scared and his bark can be intimidating. He seems to gravitate towards women more. However, if you give him a little bit of time and some treats (this boy is food motivated), he will settle down and give you a chance to earn his trust and love. And when that happens, Dozer gives you his whole heart!  He is a protective and loyal boy by nature and will always be there for you....even when you're in the bathroom.  Seriously.  Ha! Dozer is house trained and does well in the kennel most of the time. He can be a bit of a whiner if he knows you're home and not asleep. He wants to be part of the fun too!  Dozer LOVES other dogs and loves to play! He hasn't really been around cats yet so we're not sure about that. Dozer does have allergies and will need to be on Apoquel to help him not be itchy. And because of his initial trust issues, we think Dozer should not be in a home with children under 10. He is a puller when on the leash right now but he is getting some training and already doing a bit better! We have learned that while on walks, Dozer does not like anything on wheels. He barks at those items. Silly boy! Dozer will need a fenced in yard for his safety. And no townhomes or duplexes or any living space that shares walls because of his possible barking. Dozer loves to go for car rides. Just look at that smile on his face!  Dozer is ready to find his forever home and be with his family! I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Story
DOB:  2/28/20                             Weight: 58pds Adoption Fee: $225 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Maple was adopted as a puppy and then returned to us as her human Mom went thru post partum depression and was not up to work with her jumping on small humans. Maple is truly the sweetest girl. She does so great with other dogs. She is housebroken and crate trained. Very well behaved in the home. Maple loves catching treats! She really loves going for car rides. Maple truly wants to be part of the family. We are working with her on jumping up on people. Maple really wants to please her humans so she is learning every day. Maple was really strong on her leash walking so a volunteer bought her a no pull collar that has worked miracles!!!! She loves to go for walks and would be a great running or jogging buddy. Maple knows several commands. She would make most any family a great companion. Maple has been spayed, heartworm tested negative, micro chipped and she is up to date on her vaccinations. There is a 2 week trial period to give you the chance to know if she will be a good fit for your family. Story
Approx. DOB: 10/10/19                Approx Weight: 13.5 Lbs Adoption Fee: $275 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Turtle was rescued from a hoarding situation and was living in an outdoor kennel with several other dogs.  He tested positive for heartworms and was treated and is now healthy! He is ready to find a home of his own! Turtle is a shy, active guy and has been in a foster home with 2 other little dogs. He is a happy 3 yr old who loves being part of a pack, he needs another canine buddy in his forever home. He took to potty training very well and is HOUSEBROKEN and loves, loves, loves the outdoors. He can be an escape artist so will need a secure, fenced yard to run. It takes him a while to warm up to new folks but is a love bug once he does. He would do best in an all adult household or  children over 10 years old. Turtle will require a home visit to meet any new potential furry siblings as he is very nervous at Petco. He has been neutered, vaccinated, treated for heartworms and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible.
