Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Tarzan is a sweet Hound mix who is 4 years old and would love a home of his own! He loves to play tug of war and chase his tennis balls as he's an overall happy guy. He's very obedient, is crate trained and relatively non reactive to other dogs that are separated by fences on his property. He loves to receive the love and attention of humans and will stick right by your side. If you're a hound dog fan he's got a great hound dog bay when there is an armadillo that crosses his path! Tarzan was found with another dog by a good samaritan and brought into the rescue. His companion has been adopted and now it's his turn! He may need a little help with leash walking and experiences typical environmental allergies controlled by medications. Tarzan is currently in Texas but can be on the next NW transport! All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  Adoption Fee: $175 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Transport Fee: $350 Transport fee includes the cost of transport plus the Health Certificate required for USDA approved transport. Adoption applications can be found on our website: www.greatpyrsandpaws.org https://greatpyrsandpaws.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5959   Northwest adopter pays cost of transport to independent transport company.  Transport is arranged by GPPR.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2024, 7:57 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Meet BOLT!  Bolt is a handsome Pyr mix who is about 1-2 years old and weighs 65 lbs.  Bolt came into rescue after being taken to a shelter by a family that said he had grown to be "too big".  Bolt is a sweet guy, he loves people but he can be dog selective, he would do best as an only dog. He seems to be fine around cats.  Bolt is working on his leash skills and other basic training, he is a smart boy and is doing well.  He can get excited when meeting new people and greet them with hugs (jumping) but settles down quickly. He would love to find a forever family soon!  Bolt is currently in Texas but can be on the next NW transport.   All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet SARGENT! Sarge is a playful, goofy, and loving Great Pyrenees / Lab mix. He is just under 3 years old and on the smaller side for his breed, weighing in at 65 pounds.   Sarge loves playing and roughhousing and would love to find a home with another friendly dog to show him the ropes and help get his energy out! Once acquainted, he gets along with friendly dogs of all sizes. He’s a great adventure buddy and would love an active forever home that will take him on walks and hikes. He LOVES going for his daily walks and does pretty well on a leash. He’s a very curious boy and enjoys taking his time on walks to smell the roses and observe what’s going on. He does have a prey drive and occasionally pulls when he sees rabbits or squirrels.   Once he’s gotten all of his energy out, he enjoys snoozing on the couch or in the yard with his favorite squeaky stuffed animal. He is very sweet and tender-hearted. He loves to be near his people and will often follow you from room to room. He prefers not to be in a crate and sleeps nicely on a dog bed in his foster parents’ bedroom at night.   True to his Great Pyr forebears, Sarge can be vocal and talkative at times, and he will let you know if he hasn’t had enough playtime. He likes to patrol and will alert bark to let you know someone is near the house or yard.  His expressive talking and sassy side-eye constantly make his fosters laugh.   He can be wary of strangers of all ages (both people and other animals) but warms up once he learns they’re friendly. He likes to have his personal space respected so would prefer a home with older children or adults only. Sarge is untested with cats.   Sarge does have some separation anxiety and would do best in a home where he isn’t left for long periods of time. Having another friendly dog around seems to help put him at ease. He would benefit from patient and consistent positive training to help him be his best self! He is food motivated, which is great for training. His forever home must have good fencing as he can easily climb shorter fencing.    Sargent is currently being fostered in Seattle, WA. All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.  Adoption Fee: $275 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Meet Miles! Miles is a handsome guy who was rescued from the streets as a young puppy. Miles is about 80 pounds and is a healthy, happy dog. Miles gets along with everyone, cats included. His crate is his safe space, and he eats and sleeps well and with no issues. Sometimes he goes to his crate to decompress when the house gets a little loud. He loves to jump on the trampoline He uses a chair to climb up and jump with the kids. He is good with kids. He does counter surf but has gotten much better and "down" is all it takes to remind him of his manners. He would love to be someone's snuggle buddy. He would be okay even with someone elderly- he is very chill. Miles is currently in Texas but can be on the next transport! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Slate!  Slate was part of the large PNW rescue and came into rescue with his mother Ruby and brother Granite.  DNA test shows he is 70% Pyrenees and mixed with Maremma/Akbash/Anatolian and just for fun, 2% Husky! Slate likes to play with his foster sister but can also hang back a bit and observe. He’s vocal despite his more laid back personality. He’s not interested in being on the couches and perfectly happy in his doggie bed.   He likes attention and is learning that snuggles are great!   His first several weeks he lived on a farm and was exposed to goats and horses.  Slate is definitely treat motivated which will help with positive reinforcement when training.  He’s good on walks, learning that a crate is okay, and is still very much a puppy.  He will need a confident med-large mentor dog in the home as he definitely follows a positive leader.  He’s shy at first but it doesn’t take him long to warm up.  Slate is being fostered in the PNW and can be transported within OR-WA.  Adopters in other Western states must provide their own transport. OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION: 1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES THAT HAVE AT LEAST ONE MEDIUM TO LARGE YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOG that is age 1 or older. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor. 2) These puppies can be livestock dogs to farms and homesteads experienced in training LGDs.  3) Someone must be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8+ hours a day. 4) We give preference to applicants with prior Great Pyrenees knowledge/experience. 5) Secure and visible fencing required. 6) You must have a plan in place to socialize your puppy properly. Adoption Fee: $375 All of our puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.
