Meet Kiwi! She is a 3.5 month old Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise mix and weighs about 7.5 pounds currently. Despite her vision impairment, she is very brave and happy to check out her new environment. She LOVES to play with other dogs and gets so excited when her big Foster canine brother comes around. Kiwi has never met a stranger and loves to be held. She's learning to use her hearing more which is helping with her puppy training. She's not a fan of her crate, but she is doing well using potty pads and going to the bathroom outside. Speaking of outside, Kiwi loves to be outside where she can prance in the grass and feel the wind blow. Everything outside fascinates her! Since she is both vision and hearing impaired, Kiwi requires a securely fenced yard in her forever home. She has a lot of potential to grow into a fabulous adult dog with the right amount of compassion and training! She responds well to gentle talk and affection, and has the sweetest temperament with tiny little kisses ready to be doled out. If you can give Kiwi everything she needs and more, we would love to hear from you! Kiwi's adoption fee is $650

Bear is a very special pup and we are looking for an equally special home for him! He's a 2 year old Shih Tzu mix and weighs about 17 pounds. He has an adorable little face and giant eyes that display his emotions clearly. Bear came to us after he was one of multiple dogs left at a retention pond. He clearly didn't have a great start and what he needs more than ever is the comfort, confidence building, and love that a patient forever family can help him gain! He happily wags his tail whenever he sees his Foster mom - we know that with time, he will welcome his favorite humans' love, too. He is an intelligent fella but his fear from his former life can get in the way of his curiosity, so he will need a confident canine sidekick to show him this new world is not as scary as it may seem! He enjoys zooming with other dogs, especially in the snow. He has the funniest, joyful prance in the snow! His fun personality really shines through in the company of other dogs and we can't wait for his forever family to see him blossom! But, since he's not too sure about his surroundings yet, Bear will need a fenced yard to ensure his safety. We can't wait to find Bear's perfect forever home. He will be a great little companion to another dog and, with time, he will be the best companion for his people, too! All he is asking for is time and patience from his future family, and we are sure happy to help meet his needs

Ebony and Ivory are a bonded pair looking for a forever home together.Ebony (14 lbs.) and Ivory (8 lbs.) were local strays. They were in terrible shape when found and horribly matted.Now that these sweet girls are safe with AHF, they`re looking and feeling so much better. Ivory loves to cuddle, and Ebony is more playful but loves cuddling too. They`re both very loving. We think Ivory is a maltese mix and Ebony may be a schnauzer/shih tzu mix.Both girls walk on leash. They do not get crated when their foster leaves the house and do fine confined to a large room. They get along with the other dogs in their foster home and have been friendly with kids they`ve met at adoption events.
