Story
Snapshot of Gordy: Size? Medium-Large (48 lbs) Activity Level? High -he is a border collie mix, after all! ;) Noise Level? Low Good with Dogs? Yes Good with Cats? Yes Good with Kids? Likely, but no children in foster home. Good with Strangers? Yes Potty Trained? Yes, with appropriate supervision and a schedule. Crate Trained? Yes Shedding? Medium About Gordy: Hi, my name is Gordy! I also respond to Gordo, Gordito, Sir Gordon, and Cheesy Gordita Crunch. I am an adorable border collie/lab mix who wants nothing more than a home to call my own--and, preferably, a ball to call my own as well. I LOVE to chase balls, and if no balls are around, I'll make do with chasing anything you throw for me--stuffies, sticks, ropes... the options are endless. My foster mom says that I'm amazingly well adjusted given my relatively rough history. I was 1 of 16 (!!) dogs rescued from a local home, and I haven't had the best care before now. For example, you might notice that I have a bit of a limp due to a wonky front foot. The vet says that this is likely caused by a ruptured tendon that didn't heal right. Fortunately, it doesn't slow me down at all! I also recently had 8 front teeth removed, including 3 of my canines, which were all fractured, likely from biting at the bars of a crate. Still, nothing can bring down my happy-go-lucky personality (except, of course, when my foster mom puts away my ball for the night). Something else you should know about me is that I tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, Anaplasmosis and Lyme. I received treatment and I don’t have any signs of chronic Lyme infection - which is AMAZING news! I will likely continue to test positive for both of these for the rest of my life due to chronic antibodies. It is possible that I could develop side effects from Lyme later in my life but for now I’m a happy and healthy boy! Here's a bit more from my foster mom: An ideal home for Gordy would be one that can give him lots of mental and physical stimulation. He really enjoys chewing on bones and bully sticks, playing tug with toys, and playing fetch. He's also a smart boy and has picked up on sit, lay down, and crate up very quickly. We're working on some new commands for him to show off! I think he'd do great with someone who enjoys having a dog that can be a companion to them on a variety of adventures! Gordy is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. Adoption Fee: $550 + applicable tax MEET ME/ADOPT ME: If you'd like to arrange a meeting or begin the adoption process, please fill out an adoption application by visiting https://www.twincitiespetrescue.org/adopt/ or clicking "adopt me! Story
Meet Spec – the sweetest senior gentleman! He has the calmest, most even-keeled energy and an incredibly gentle soul. At 11 years old, he still enjoys his walks and playtime but is equally happy lounging beside you on a lazy afternoon. Living with two resident dogs, Spec fits in seamlessly—he's wonderfully passive, respectful of cues, and just wants to be everyone's friend. He’s also feline-approved, having peacefully lived with a cat in the past and passed his cat test with flying colors at Pet Haven. Spec’s favorite things include snuggling into piles of floofy blankets and soft pillows (fair warning: he will steal them all), finding the perfect sunny patch of grass to lounge in, and enjoying short, leisurely strolls around the neighborhood. He’s a big fan of couch cuddles and welcomes endless pets and ear scratches. As for treats, Spec has excellent taste—string cheese and small bits of peanut butter are his top-tier favorites.Spec is house trained and does great with having a room of his own while you're away, but he's not crate trained—and he’s made it clear he prefers it that way. He’s navigating some separation anxiety after the big change of losing his lifelong home, so he cannot live in a home with shared walls (no apartments/townhomes). As a senior pup, Spec does have some arthritis in his back legs and takes a daily pill to keep him comfortable. Spec presented with masses on his mouth and lips, which were partially debulked prior to entering our care. These masses have been diagnosed as cancerous but are currently localized to the oral region. Complete surgical removal would require partial jaw resection. Due to Spec’s age and the invasiveness of the procedure, Pet Haven has opted not to pursue this course of treatment. In light of these factors, Spec is being placed as a hospice adoption for a family to love and care for him as he lives out his golden years! Pet Haven is happy to discuss this care plan further with adopters!Spec is truly one of a kind. He’s the best boy, and he deserves the most loving companions to help him feel safe, cherished, and at peace in his golden years. If you’re looking for the best friend you could ever ask for, Spec is waiting for you.If you are interested in Spec, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $250. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Story
Name: Ballet Breeds: Border Collie Age: Puppy Sex: Female Size: Medium when fully grown Ballet is a gorgeous Border Collie puppy who was brought into the shelter after she was found wandering after puppy curfew. No one came for her so she is now looking for a home who will love her, train her, and put that smartypants border collie brain to work. Ballet is smart as a whip and learns so fast. She absolutely thrives on being given something to do to. Puzzle toys, flirt pole, training—yes please! Ballet is typical puppy so housetraining is a work in progress but she keeps her crate clean for the workday and overnight. She is fantastic with other dogs but will herd them playfully which doesn’t always go over well with some dogs especially the little ones. She has not been around cats but would need a proper introduction to them and reminders that they aren’t for play. Ballet is of the mindset that everything is for play! Due to her breed she would be best with older kids or a herding breed experienced home who understands the tendencies to heel nip and chase kiddos to tell them where to go. If you are looking for a super fun dog who wants to join in on adventures, learn anything you want to teach, and keep you active and on your toes, Ballet wants to meet you! Requirements: No special requirements Adoption Fee: $650 + tax. This includes neuter/spay, current vaccinations as age appropriate, deworming, and microchip Interested in adopting? Story
Odie came into our lives not quite 8 years ago. Odie is a good boy who loves to play ball and is house trained. He has had some hind leg injuries because he loves ball so much. If he takes it easy, he’s still in good health and loves kids and people. He truly is a healer and feeler; a great emotional support dog. Our lives have changed and we are now busy with toddlers and a small business which doesn’t make us the best option for Odie anymore. We just want him to find a great owner that will appreciate him more than we are able to at this time. Our neighbors say he’s the best dog on the block. He’s an amazing companion, that’s why we hate to see this day come, but we want to do what is best for him.
