Story
Cameron is an 8 yr old male border collie/retriever mix that came into our program a few months ago. His owner had died, and no other family members were able to take him in – so Cameron lived outside for 2 months on a tieout, and a kind neighbor fed him until a rescue could be found. When Cameron first came, he did not want to come in the house and he was leery of the cat. He now gladly comes in the house, but always checks to see where the cat is. Cameron gets along well with the resident dog and the two older dogs that visited. The dogs like to be in the front yard where they can watch people and dogs walk by. Cameron would enjoy the companionship of another mature medium-size dog. Cameron and the cat usually ignore each other. Any children in the home should be at least 12 yr old - younger kids might play too rough with him, and toddlers might climb on him. Cameron has been invited up on the couch and bed - he has only been on the bed two times – just to check it out - he seems to prefer sleeping on the hard wood floor where it is cooler or on a throw rug. He has also only been on the couch twice, so if you are looking for a dog that doesn’t go up on the furniture, Cameron could be your match. He is good meeting new people, and likes attention. He got out of the yard once when the gate was not securely closed. He went for a brisk walk down the block, eventually going into the fenced play ground area of the neighborhood school. When he saw the leash in his foster’s hand, he gladly came and was walked home. He had ignored any calling of his name, probably because he hadn’t learned his new name yet. The dogs are in and out of the house many times during the day as the yard is fenced in and safe for them. When Cameron is asked if he wants to go “outside” he sort of excitedly barks and wags his tail and heads for the door (otherwise he is a relatively quiet dog) and he does ask to go out by coming to you and whimpering. He rides in the car nicely (needs an assist to get in), although it is probably a new experience for him. Cameron was very aware of the Fourth of July fireworks sounds, but didn’t seem to be overly upset or nervous. He was very happy to be inside with the other animals. Cameron has one unique habit. He is fascinated with shadows and reflections of shiny things. It could be that he had been tied up most of his life, so that was one thing he used to amuse himself. He has spent a fair amount of his life on a tie-out, so now we would like him to have a fenced yard to move around in. Cameron is neutered and vaccinated. In March of this year he had routine blood chemistries done that were clinically normal, and in that same month had a dental cleaning with one extraction. In May , he had a lump on his left back foot removed - pathology wasn't cancer - it was a bunch of hair, skin, & other miscellaneous tissue they couldn't really identify (this is all healed up). His microchip is registered to Second Chance. He has some muscular atrophy over the left hip area- likely osteoarthritis, and is on fish oil and glucosamine supplements (and should continue on these). Also, he should not gain any weight – he weighs 52#, which the vet says is about the maximum weight for him. Arthritic hips make it difficult for him to negotiate the steps – he just doesn’t have the strength in his back end – so he needs a single level home with only 1 or 2 entry steps. He can’t jump up on furniture, or into the car. If there is another dog in the home, it should not rough-house or jump on him to play. Low impact exercise – such as walking or swimming, is encouraged. His adoption fee is $225. Call 651-771-5662 if you would like to meet Cameron. He is a gentle, mellow, well behaved dog.

Story
Prim is a wonderful dog, the only reason we are rehoming her is because she doesnt like my 5 year old and has nipped at her face. She enjoys older children. She is very laid back, not the border collie personality at all. Shes happy to go on a walk or hike or run but doesnt need it, she loves cuddling on the couch and is a great house companion. She LOVES people and is very friendly. She can be a bit apprehensive meeting other dogs at first but warms up quickly. Shes kennel trained and potty trained, although she does sleep in the bed at night. She is 9 months old and weighs 32 lbs. She is a mixture of breeds, but we only know border collie for sure. She sheds a bit but doesnt mind being brushed and bathed. She is up to date on all shots and will come with food, treats, another month of flea/tick meds, leash and collar, and her favorite toys. Shes truly the perfect dog for a family with older children.

Story
Phoebe is a 2 year old Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix. She is EXTREMELY intelligent and EXTREMELY energetic. She is loyal and very sensitive. A protector, she will let you know if someone THINKS about walking past the home. She bonds very strongly to usually one person, but loves everyone in the home. Very affectionate. She wasn’t socialized properly when she was younger, so she’s not very fond of dogs outside of the home who are not “part of the pack.” She needs obedience training (which she’ll do very well with), as well as a brush up on potty training. She has jealous tendencies and will distance self and sulk if someone/thing gets more attention than her. She might have destructive tendencies if bored, but nothing severe usually. Needs experienced person who will give her all the love she desires and who will meet her needs. Once she sees she’s loved, she will be your best friend for life.

Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes when I can see other dogs **NEEDS ANOTHER CONFIDENT DOG IN THE HOME AND A PHYSICALLY FENCED YARD**  Hi there! I’m Addie, and I am the sweetest little girl you’ll ever meet! I didn’t have the easiest start to life, so I’m nervous about new people at first, but I warm up after I realize I’m home and safe. Boy, oh boy, do I looooove to cuddle, and I like pets and scritches. I'll even nudge your arm and hand for more pets! I really want to be loved, so please take a chance on me, even though I’m scared at first! I need another dog in my home to teach me how to be confident and to bond with. I absolutely LOVE my doggo foster brother and playing with him, so I would love nothing more than to have another pup that wants to run around with me. My dog friend being my best friend is so important for me to continue to live my best life. Because of my fears, I'll need a securely fenced yard to live my happiest life, and you'll see a different side of me when I'm outside playing! I am potty trained on a schedule when you're home with me, but I can also keep my kennel clean for a workday. My foster mom says I'm the easiest little girl because of my sweet demeanor and smarts. I keep myself busy with toys during the day when mom works, so I'd be a great companion for anyone who works from home!  Once I'm comfortable with you, I think I would be really great at agility or other training, too, so feel free to put my border collie abilities to the test! I get really scared by sudden, loud noises and fast movements, so I would do best in a home without little kids. Other than that, I just want all the loving I can get from other dogs and adults! Will you be my new family? Adoption Fee: $595Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME?
