Story

4.5 year old rescued male husky mix (50% husky, then GSD, cattle dog, border collie) in tact because he showed anxiety and separation anxiety as a puppy and we were nervous about exacerbating it.The most curious dog I've ever had, interested in so much. His favorite activities involve sniffing (you'd think he'd have a scenthound in him!), walks in the woods, helping in the garden, and trancing between plant leaves. He has a single favorite type of toy and goes crazy over it doing the goofiest things. He learns within a a few repetitions. Unfortunately, he has quite a few behavioral issues that while I have managed them as much as I can and with medication (clomicalm & gabapentin) it is more than I can give as I have my own disabilities and am looking for his forever home with someone patient.He has separation anxiety and FOMO, is not good with kids or other pets (dog reactive on leash, poor socialization, and high prey drive), and is wary of strangers. He is generally a little anxious.

Bailey is a sweet, affectionate dog who bonds closely with the people he knows and trusts. In a calm home environment, he enjoys being with family and does well with a daily routine.Bailey can become very fearful in unfamiliar environments and around new people. When is anxious, he will bark and show clear signs of stress. We managed him closely in public situations until he is comfortable.We were informed of reported bite incident while Bailey was in a rescue setting. We were told it was a younger adult or child and a small skin break was reported. We want to be transparent with that report and it should be considered when determining the most appropriate placement.Bailey would do best with an experienced adopter who understands fearful dogs and is committed to using patience/positive reinforcement. He would thrive in a predictable home with slow introductions to new people and situations.Our goal is to find Bailey a safe, permanent home where is behavioral needs are understood.

Gershwin is a 7-year-old neutered male German Shepherd, pure bred, looking for the right home. He is a sweet, sesitive dog who bonds deeply to his people and thrives in a structured, predictable environment. He is currently in training at B.A.R.K Institute, where we are working on building his confidence and improving impulse control. Why is Gershwin available for adoption? He has had two incidents where unfamiliar people entered his space, home unexpectedly and due to his anxiety his reaction was two minor bite incidents-in these scenarios,neither required medical treatment,but they are considered a bite history nonetheless. He is currently on medication to support his anxiety and his owners opted not to discontinue medication before sending him to training. Ideal Home: *Experienced dog owner (German Shepherd experience preferred) *Calm,structured household *someone confortable with management (crate/place,controlled introductions) *Adult0only home or older, dog-savvy children Gershwin is a loyal, thoughtful dog who will do best with someone who understands his nature and is willing to provide clear leadership and structure. Story

Copper is amazingly sweet, affectionate, and loving. He has been great with my other small dog but I know on walks he can be nervous and a little scared of other dogs so I’m not sure about his comfort with other dogs. He has been fine with my cat and is never aggressive. He is very people friendly and has never been aggressive. He is however a severe puller on the leash and chewer when home alone so he has to spend time in the crate when left unattended. He is not food aggressive at all. Unfortunately because of his energy levels and needs and my very long 15 hour work days I am unable to provide him with the time and activity that he needs. He really is a sweet wonderful dog but I don’t think it’s fair he spend his life inside in a crate.

This dog is part of our shelter outreach program where we take dogs from overcrowded shelters in hopes of finding them a forever home here! We generally do not have much background info on them and cannot guarantee they are housebroken. They are all up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Meet Scrappy Doo! Just look at that face! Scrappy Doo is a 5-month-old Lab mix puppy with a whole lot of love, energy, and personality packed into one adorable package. Will grow to be about 40-50lbs. Like most puppies, Scrappy is full of enthusiasm and is always ready for his next adventure. He'll do best with a family that can provide him with plenty of exercise, structure, and consistency. Obedience training will be a must to help this smart boy grow into the amazing adult dog he's meant to be. A fenced yard is required so he has a safe place to run and burn off some of that puppy energy. Kids 12+ would be the best fit for Scrappy. He enjoys playing with other dogs—but be warned, he's a rough-and-tumble kind of player! Scrappy is sweet, affectionate, and absolutely lovable.
