Story
Luna will be 2 in July and came to my family after a relative rescued her from a neglect situation. We are unsure of her breed but our vet suspects she is a husky/shepherd mix. She is up to date on her shots and has been spayed. She is extremely playful and energetic and would be best with a family with a mid-high energy lifestyle. She is very cuddly and loves being pet/snuggled. For the most part she is house broken but has the occasional accident. Luna gets along very well with our older German shepherd and is overall very playful with other animals. Though, she would probably do best with other pets who are more docile as she is more dominant.

Story
Hello pet lovers , I have had Kyo for the past 7 years. We got him and his lil brother in a small box in 2018 and me and my sister have decided to keep him since we wanted a dog so bad. However, throughout the years, Kyo would be more anxious without us by his side and cause a scene when we leave the house. Since I just delivered a baby, I don’t have much time to be with Kyo now since I will be focusing on my newborn. Kyo loves to explore, play and be by our side , he also loves to play fetch and tug ! I just want to find a good home for him that would give him more attention and training as we wish we could have done more.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lucy was saved from a high-kill shelter in California and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Wednesday 3rd August. We post our available dogs in states across the East Coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes of finding the right homes. We do not transport dogs — families must come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet and, hopefully, take home their new best friend. Health & Background ✅ Spayed ✅ Rabies and core vaccines up to date ✅ On monthly flea/tick preventatives ✅ Microchipped ⚖️ Weight: around 40 lbs Estimated DoB: 1 May 2025 Lucy will only be adopted to a home with another dog, as she has consistently thrived in a multi-dog environment and gains confidence, structure, and engagement from other dogs. Lucy, when she arrived at the rescue, was shy, but being around other dogs really brought her out of her shell. During her time here, she bonded with German Shepherd Snowball and there was a time I was only going to adopt them as a bonded pair. However, since she has been living with other teenage dogs (Cruz, Sandy, Sunny), her personality is just thriving. She is such a happy girl. She absolutely LOVES toys and, as you would expect from the breed, she is always chewing on a bone, a toy, squeaking, or destuffing. She loves every dog she meets and gets incredibly happy when she meets new dogs. She is visibly excited but controlled, not bouncing all over and not a dog that jumps up much. She is always instigating play with the other dogs and loves to chase and wrestle. Recently, she met a blind and deaf white Chihuahua (check out the videos) and she waited patiently wagging her tail excited for him to come over to her and when he did she instigated play on his small dog level. Lucy is very shy around new places and new people and we are taking her out more and to our local hang out at More Than Just Engraving Store in the Bangor Mall where she is getting to meet lots of people and after a few moments of building up confidence soon enjoys being stroked and loved on with those who are happy to sit on the floor with her. She will bark at people walking past outside. We are currently temporarily living in the center of town, but the traffic noise, fire engine sirens and everyday busy traffic do not phase her. She walks ok on a leash although in her shy phase can be a little hesitant, but soon gets into it and doesn't pull at all. Lucy shares food and water bowls and all toys with the other dogs and has never shown any kind of aggression or upset. She has been around people of all ages and is ok around small children when she feels comfortable which as mentioned previously when she has warmed up and feels safe. Lucy is incredibly responsive and will come in when told to. Although no training has been done, with her intelligence and responsiveness I do not feel this would be a problem, once she feels safe and is confident with her new people. Lucy is not a lover of car rides and has been known to be sick. Since I have been taking her out with Cruz who is super confident, I have found that her sickness does seem less, I am not sure if that is because he just oozes confidence, or if she is getting used to it, but when she is nervous she will most likely be sick so this is to be expected when going to her new home and maybe the first few trips out. She has definitely been getting better, with no sickness and sometimes only a bit of drool on trips. Lucy is a Red Heeler, a Cattle Dog this is a very high energy and high intelligence breed and she needs a family that understands and respects this. She needs a family that is active that can give her the lifestyle she needs whilst understanding the mental stimulation and challenge is equally as important. What Lucy Needs A home with other dogs based on how she has thrived in her current environment Time and patience to allow her to adjust and build confidence Continued exposure to new environments at her pace Plenty of toys and appropriate chew items Structure and routine Adoption Details Location: Sebec, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire. Once approved, you’ll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet Lucy. ⏱️ Applications are generally processed within 24-48 hours Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire Want to See More of Lucy? She’s doing amazing and making great progress on her journey to find her forever home.   **Chewing Improvement**: We’re still working on the chewing, but she’s adjusting well to her chew toys. **Potty Progress**: Nelly is going in and out to potty regularly, though she sometimes uses a puppy pad if she can't wait. **Yard Adventures**: While she’s still a bit hesitant to come back inside from the yard, she’s getting much better at going out by us! **Growing Affection**: Nelly has started to play more and loves coming up for cuddles when we’re sitting down. She’s a little nervous when we stand, but her curiosity is growing, and she’s starting to explore what we’re up to instead of just scurrying away. **Response to Name**: She’s also beginning to respond well to her name, which is such a wonderful sign! **Excited Greetings**: Nelly is now the first to greet us at the door with tail wags and excitement when we come home—it's the best welcome ever! **Couch Snuggles**: She’s getting big on couch snuggles too!   Nelly is a sweet girl with so much love to give, and I know the perfect family is out there waiting for her. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Sandy and her siblings were saved from a high-kill shelter in Calfornia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Wednesday 3rd August. We post our available dogs in states across the East Coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes of finding perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs — families must come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet and, hopefully, take home their new best friend. Sandy is a Belgian Mal / German Shepherd Mix and it is important to understand that she is a high energy, intelligent girl so be sure you have the lifestyle that she needs to give her and you the best life possible together... note she is also a love bug and all round sweet, gentle girl - not the maligator people assume when they hear the name Belgian Mal. Health & Background ✅ Spayed ✅ Rabies and core vaccines up to date ✅ On monthly flea/tick preventatives ✅ Microchipped ⚖️ Weight: 65 lbs ish Estimated DoB: 23 May 2025 SANDY is back at the rescue (16 April 2026) in Dover-Foxcroft Maine, I brought her back so I could get her out and about and hopefully more exposure in helping her forever family find her. She is doing great with the seniors and other teenagers, Cruz, Snowball and Lucy. She is very affectionate, responsive, loves people, will bark if she see's someone walking past but will come in when called. Very easy to train she is a people pleaser who wants to go on adventures and make lots of memories. After a devastating fire at the rescue on 20 January, SANDY went to a foster family in southern Maine on 24th January. This is what her foster family has said about her: Terra (aka Sandy) has been fostering with us for two months. She is such a loving soul and one of the sweetest pups you'll ever meet. Terra loves running and playing and taking walks with our dog, Apollo. Apollo was slow to accept her, but now that he has such a fun time playing with her in the yard, he has seemed to become much more tolerant of another dog in his house.   Terra is crate trained. She sleeps well through the night without complaint, and plays with her chew toys if she wakes up before we do. During the day she'll spend 30-45 minutes crated off and on. She does so without being noisy now, except she does still protest if we have her crated when we are eating dinner. She does better if our dog is crated at dinner time with her, so it seems to be at least partially a competition/jealousy issue.   She's got her basic commands down--come, stay, sit, lay down, and her release command 'break.' She walks nicely on a leash, although we do have some issues with pulling when she's walked along with another dog. She's calmer when she's walked on her own as she still gets more playful energy when she's with a canine friend. We had some peeing occur in the house the first 2-3 weeks, but she has done great with potty training and it's been more than a month since the last incident.   Terra loves her toys and isn't choosy...she'll go from playing with a stuffy to nomming on a rope toy to chasing around a ball. While she has her bursts of playful energy, she has overall been calming down and having long periods where she chills out and and rests peacefully.   It's been a pleasant evolution as now she is far more content to spend stretches of time laying next to me resting or chewing on a toy while I read or am at my desk.   Terra has been waiting long months since arriving at Give a Dog a Home Rescue rescue in September to find a forever home with a family that will give her the love she deserves. If you can be that family, please apply to adopt What SandyNeeds ‍♀️ An active family that can meet her physical and mental exercise needs Mental stimulation and enrichment — structure, toys, puzzles, and engaging activities ️ High-quality food and treats to keep her healthy and energized Regular veterinary wellness checks for preventive care and long-term health ❤️ Time to adjust and feel safe — patience to decompress and build trust   Adoption Details Adoption Fee: $550 Location: Southern Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire. Once approved, you’ll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet Sandy. ⏱️ Applications are generally processed within 24-48 hours Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire Want to See More of Sandy?
