Story
Meet Resse – Your Snack-Loving Sidekick with a Zest for Life!Resse is a 2–3 year-old male American Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix weighing in at 51 lbs of pure personality. He’s currently rocking a slightly “lean and athletic” look, but don’t worry — he’s enjoying a steady rotation of super nutritious meals to help him fill out and feel his very best. (He’s not complaining about the extra snacks.)This boy is very food motivated, which makes our volunteer trainers downright giddy. Treats? Yes, please. Learning new skills? Absolutely. Resse is the kind of dog who says, “Show me the snack and I’ll show you my potential.” With his eagerness and drive, he’s primed to thrive in continued training and will likely love having a job to do.Resse has an energetic personality paired with a busy, curious mind. He enjoys enrichment activities that let him think, problem-solve, and engage his senses. Puzzle toys, scent games, interactive play — sign him up! Keeping his brain active is just as important as stretching those legs. And speaking of legs… walks with Resse are an adventure. He doesn’t just walk — he investigates. Every leaf, every breeze, every interesting scent deserves a moment of consideration. He likes to smell and look at everything, taking in the world with enthusiasm and curiosity. For him, a walk is less about the destination and more about the discovery. If you’re looking for a bright, energetic companion who will keep you moving, keep you laughing, and happily work for snacks along the way, Resse might just be your guy. He’s ready to trade shelter life for a home where he can continue building skills, gaining healthy weight, and being the very best version of himself. If you are interested in meeting Reese, please complete an Interest Form. An adoption counselor will contact you to schedule an appointment.April 18, 2026, 3:02 pm

Story
Meet Ricky — small in size, big in charmNamed after animal loving comedian Ricky Gervais, our Ricky is a 28 lb Lab–German Shepherd mix with a heart every bit as lovable as his namesake’s advocacy. At just 1 to 1½ years old, he’s the perfect blend of youthful energy and tender sweetness.Ricky arrived a bit underweight, but with steady meals and lots of care, he’s filled out beautifully. Now he’s showing us what a bright, joyful boy he truly is. He’s already a volunteer favorite, thanks to several overnight stays where he proved himself to be the perfect house guest — polite, easygoing, and so appreciative of every bit of love. When meeting new people, Ricky likes to take a moment to warm up. A gentle greeting goes a long way with him. But once he decides you’re a friend, he transforms into a full on body leaning lovebug who will happily melt against you for affection. And don’t let his initial shyness fool you — Ricky is playful, fun, and ready to enjoy life. Whether it’s a romp in the yard, a silly game, or just hanging out with his favorite humans, he’s all in once he feels safe.Ricky is looking for a forever home that will give him kindness, patience, and plenty of love as he continues to grow into the wonderful dog he’s meant to be. If you’re searching for a sweet, slightly goofy, deeply affectionate companion, Ricky might just be your perfect match. If you are interested in meeting Ricky, please complete an Interest Form. Story
Meet Bruce — the boy who’s been waiting for someone to see the gentle heart behind those big, hopeful eyes.Bruce is a 3 year old, 50 pound American Staffordshire Terrier with a story that tugs at you in all the right ways. He was found wandering as a stray, and although he tried his best to be brave, the shelter environment was overwhelming for him. The stress took a toll — he lost weight, shut down a bit, and quietly waited for life to get better. And then it did. Thanks to Sammy’s Hope, Bruce was welcomed into a loving foster home where he could finally exhale. In just a short time, he has blossomed into the dog he was always meant to be. He’s relaxed, curious about the world, and so affectionate it’s impossible not to fall for him. His appetite is back, he sleeps soundly through the night in his crate without a peep, and he’s rediscovered the simple joy of playing with his toys.Bruce is friendly, eager to please, and knows his basic commands. He’s also extremely food motivated — treats are his love language — which makes training fun and rewarding. His foster family describes him as a sweetheart who just wants to be near his people and soak up the comfort he missed for so long.Bruce isn’t just looking for a home. He’s looking for his home — the one where he can continue to feel safe, cherished, and part of something real and lasting. If you’re searching for a loyal companion with a tender spirit and a heart ready to bond deeply, Bruce is waiting. If you are interested in meeting Bruce, please complete an Interest Form. Story
Meet Moose – A Sweet Soul Looking for a Fresh StartMoose is a one-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix whose coat is as striking as his spirit. Beneath those bright, curious eyes is a gentle heart that just wants to love and be loved. He’s friendly with everyone he meets, always eager for a soft pat, a tasty snack, or the chance to make a new friend.Life hasn’t been kind to Moose so far. X-rays show that he suffered trauma as a young pup, leaving both of his hips fractured. Though those injuries have since healed, they did so poorly — and his left hip now causes him significant pain with everyday movements. Despite this, Moose’s tail still wags when he sees you, and he meets each day with quiet optimism and a heart full of hope.Moose is scheduled for surgery in the coming week, and the veterinary team expects him to make a full recovery. Right now he needs a loving adopter ready to give him the forever home he deserves. At just over a year old, Moose is the perfect blend of puppy playfulness and young adult patience. Whether he’s joining you for a car ride, lounging on the porch, or simply resting his head in your lap, Moose’s calm and trusting nature shines through. If you open your heart to Moose, you won’t just be helping a dog in need — you’ll be gaining a loyal, loving companion who’s ready to start his second chapter by your side.Favorite things: tasty treats, kind people, and the joy of making new friends. Story
Lulu is a sweet 8-year-old dog who enjoys days in the sun, going on short walks, and spending time close to her people. She has a loving, loyal, and has a stern personality and forms strong bonds with the humans she trusts. Lulu has been part of the family since she was a 6 months and has always had a calm and comforting presence. She would do best in a stable, loving home where she can receive attention and be treated like part of the family. Lulu thrives in a peaceful environment and, like many dogs her age, appreciates a predictable routine and a comfortable place to relax. She may be able to live with another calm and friendly pet with proper introductions, but she would likely do very well as the only pet where she can receive the most attention. Lulu would probably do best in a home with older, respectful children. She enjoys moderate activity such as short walks but is mostly a relaxed dog who loves being near someone.
