Kona

American Pit Bull Terrier

Female, adult
Shawnee, KS
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Not good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Kona was rescued when she was 3-4 and we’ve had her for 4 years. We have worked with a couple different trainers to help her not be dog reactive. We have had several issues lately between her and our other female pit bull, Piper, and need to rehome Kona before one of them seriously hurts the other one. Kona is very smart, well trained and knows all the usual commands. She is a great dog on her own but struggles around other dogs. This is heartbreaking for us because she’s so funny and playful and loving but we can’t risk her and Piper hurting each other anymore.

Story
Max is a very cuddly, very protective best friend. He's very smart, playful and funny! He knows sit, lay down, come here, stay and leave it. He likes to chase a ball but his favorite game is chasing something he can play tug of war with before letting it go to be thrown again. Currently, he lives in a family with mom and dad, and their 4 children, 2 cats and another dog. He absolutley loves mom (and mom loves him), 2nd favorite is dad. He does not tolerate the children at all and has growled, chased and bitten them. The bites have never drawn blood, but the kids are scared of him at this point and they stress Max out. We've tried different training methods but the inconsistencies of 4 kids make it very difficult. His energy level is also too much for his dog sister who commonly hides under the bed, but never used to. So we've come to the decision that it would be best for Max to be in a home with adults only that can be consistent with their training/treatment.

Story
Gus is a very loving and energetic puppy. He is about 6 months old and was taken at 8 weeks old from a farm of relative who had no prior experience breeding animals. Schipperkes tend to be smart and Gus is no exception, so training him requires lots of reinforcement but he is able to catch on quickly off the bat. He gets very excited around other dogs and is always friendly and playful; he has never shown any aggressive behavior towards other dogs. I am in an unfortunate situation working in healthcare that requires me to work 24 hour shifts multiple times a week and take call at variable times every month. Additionally, my location and time of work on a given day can be unpredictable which makes finding a permanent caregiver difficult. This job opportunity only became available after I took Gus home in the spring. I would love to find a caring owner who can spend lots of time with Gus and give him the attention he needs early on so he is well-suited as an adult. Thank you!

Story
Are you in need of a pet that never wants to leave your side? Do you work from home or are retired? Let me introduce Baron. He is a Beagle mix around 3 years old, neutered, chipped, and worm free. A portion of his ear is missing from his past as a stray. He has never met another animal he didn't like and is good with children. He lives with 3 cats and didn't harm baby rabbits in our yard. He has never bit. He is vocal in small whines and happy groans from a good scratch behind the ear, but does not bay unless he is especially distressed. He is housetrained as long as he has a routine. Additionally, he knows sit, stay, and come. Unfortunately, he requires a lot of attention and a rigid structure. My fiance and I are both busy people and we struggle to provide him the life he deserves. That's why we have made the decision to find him a home where he'll have a life worth living. Please reach out if you are interested or have any questions!

Story
We adopted Radley from a rescue in November of 2017. She was very anxious when we got her and although she has improved a lot, there is still some anxiety there. The apartment setting was very stressful for her due to all the sounds. Being in a home, following you around, and just sprawling on the couch near you is her dream. She is great with our dog however she has resource guarded with my moms small dog. It breaks my heart that she won’t be there to snuggle under my desk while I work forever however we now have an active 9 month old and Radley keeps growling at her. Sweet Radley is the EASIEST dog. Routine and potty trained. She loves lounging around on a fuzzy blanket. We love her, but worry about her with the baby. She has never hurt a human. Once she gets past the fear, it’s all kisses.
