Meet Wilma! ❤️ Wilma is a resilient, loving girl with an incredible story. She was found abandoned on the side of the road with her puppies after having been shot in the leg. (All of her puppies have found loving homes.) Unfortunately, the injury was too severe to save her leg, so she is now a happy and thriving tripod. Don't let her three legs fool you—Wilma doesn't let anything slow her down! At around 5 years old and 73 pounds, Wilma is a sweet, active girl who also knows how to relax and enjoy a good nap. She is a little overweight, so a family that enjoys walks and playtime will help her get back to her ideal weight. Wilma is heartworm negative and protected with ProHeart. She gets along well with other dogs and absolutely loves people. Because she gets excited and likes to jump up to say hello, she would do best in a home with older children. Since she hasn't been around cats in foster care, we aren't sure how she would do with feline friends. Wilma has already overcome so much in her life, and now all she needs is a family who will love her forever. She has proven that even after hardship, life can still be full of joy, love, and second chances. 🐾 Meet Rusty! 🐾 Rusty is a 9-month-old Australian Kelpie/Shepherd mix who has already overcome more than any puppy should ever have to. Rusty came into rescue when he was just 3 months old after someone found him. At the time, he had what appeared to be a chemical burn running the entire length of his back. We don't know what happened to him or how he was injured, but thankfully, he made it into rescue and has been given the care and love he deserved. Rusty also suffered an eye injury. We don't know if it was related to what happened to his back, but unfortunately, his eye could not be saved and had to be removed. But losing an eye hasn't slowed this handsome boy down one bit! ❤️ Today, Rusty is a happy, healthy boy who is ready for his forever home. He has a medium activity level and enjoys going for walks, but he isn't looking for a home that never stops moving. He has great manners, gets along wonderfully with dogs of all ages, and does well in a crate. Rusty is the kind of dog who has been through a lot but hasn't let it change his sweet spirit. ❤️ MEET VENUS! ❤️ Venus’s story is heartbreaking, but her future can be beautiful. 🐾 When Venus first came into rescue, her first week was spent receiving 24/7 hospital care. She was on IV fluids, antibiotics, and pain medication after suffering several broken ribs. We strongly suspect her injuries were the result of being kicked by humans. We also have a strong suspicion that Venus somehow escaped a life as a bait dog in a dog-fighting situation, something that sadly remains a reality for some dogs. Despite everything she has endured, Venus has never lost her love for people. ❤️ Venus is a 2-year-old pocket Pit Bull with soft tan fur, the cutest short little legs, and a heart that is SO much bigger than her 35-pound body. She is the perfect size for snuggling and is fully grown, so she won't be getting any bigger! She has been treated for heartworms and is now ready to start the next chapter of her life. 🎉 Venus isn't a fan of cats or other dogs, so she would do best as the only pet in her home. But when it comes to her people, Venus makes up for it with loyalty, affection, and the sweetest personality. She has been through more than any dog should ever have to endure. Meet the Chihuahua/Corgi Mix Puppies! 🐾❤️ Sometimes unexpected litters happen, and that’s exactly how these four adorable little puppies found their way to rescue. Their family surrendered them to us so we could help them find wonderful forever homes. The family is also allowing us to have Mama spayed, so there won’t be another accidental litter in the future—a wonderful decision! These little ones were born July 7th and are currently around 5 pounds each. We expect them to be no larger 15 pounds, 20 at the most when full grown. They have already received two sets of puppy vaccines and will be spayed/neutered on September 11th. They will be ready to head to their forever homes soon after that! Like all puppies, these four are still learning about the world and will need families who understand that puppyhood comes with a little work. They will need someone willing to be consistent and patient with housetraining, basic obedience, manners, and all the important Puppy 101 lessons. With the right guidance, they have the potential to grow into wonderful little companions.
