Story
Ace (and his brother, Milo) are looking for forever homes having been surrendered after the death of their owner. Ace and Milo are currently residing at the Long Run Pet Hospital in Wheeling, WV.  Ace and Milo are 2-years old and are beagle/bulldog mixes, known as "Beabulls." The breed is known as active, playful and great companions and family dogs for active households. They are the quintessential beagle mix with happy personalities and attentive tails showing enthusiasm. Both dogs are very energetic, curious and do well on a leash. The love attention and return it with big smiles.  Ace is a sturdy boys that would make a great companion for someone or a family that will commit to not only giving him lots of playtime but also loves to snuggle and go for long walks for "all the sniffs!" He will benefit from  basic obedience classes to teach him good manners. He should do well with a dog of his size and playstyle but is far too energetic for cats and toddlers. Old, dog-savvy children may very well enjoy this beautiful boy as a snuggle buddy. Ace's soft, floppy ears and doggy smile are guaranteed to bring joy and laughter into your life. For more information or to meet Ace, please call the Long Run Pet Hospital at 304-232-2605.May 14, 2025, 7:23 pm

Story
Riggs is ready for his people! Our adult tri-colored Rottweiler/mix boy has a great friendly temperament and is smart as a whip. Fully grown at approximately 2 years old, loves attention and has a energy level that isn't too much but is just enough. His sweet nature shines though his beautiful eyes showing you that he's got so much love to give and will be a wonderful additional to the right family. He walks well on a leash and knows some commands. Another dog as a companion may work for Riggs but, as always, a meet-and-greet with another dog his size is a must prior to adoption. He is very treat motivated which means he'll love to learn new things. Riggs can be a bit food protective and would do best in a home without small children and without cats. Riggs is a courtesy post for the Brooke County Animal Shelter in Beechbottom, WV, about 45 minutes from Pittsburgh. Please contact the shelter at 304-394-0800 for more information or to arrange a meet and greet with Riggs.November 16, 2025, 1:31 pm

Story
Meet Louie -- medium in size but big in sparkle. He is a black and white beauty that does well with other dogs but he is not a fan of cats. Louie has perky ears, a striking speckled neck ruff and possesses a calm energy. Louie might take a bit of time to get to know his new family but once that happens, he will show you how wonderful he really is. He is one of those dogs who is equally up for exploring the trail and snuggling on the couch. He will bring his affectionate and grounded energy to whatever is on the agenda -- he just needs a bit of time to get to know his new family.  Louie is a courtesy post for the Brooke County Animal Shelter in Beechbottom, WV, about 45 minutes from Pittsburgh. Please contact the shelter at 304-394-0800 for more information or to arrange a meet and greet with Louie.August 5, 2025, 11:44 am

Story
Meet Daisy - a fun-loving and athletic dog looking for her forever home.  Could it be with you?  Daisy is packed with energy, personality and endearing qualities that will make her the perfect companion for a family willing to invest the time into a special dog.  Her owners made the difficult decision to rehome Daisy, knowing she needed more time than they could provide with a young, growing family. Daisy is currently residing in a volunteer-foster home through Animal Advocates.  Daisy is a young adult hound-mix, approximately 55lbs, and is quite athletic for her size, with long legs that give her impressive jumping and agility skills. She has an incredible ability to stand straight up like a person without any support - a talent that never fails to amaze! Daisy might be an excellent candidate for agility training as a hobby, as both a great outlet for her energy and an opportunity to bond with her new family. Daisy's favorite activities include daily walks, rolling on her back in the grass (a simple pleasure that brings her great joy), squeaker toys and belly rubs.  When she's happily playing with her toys, Daisy makes adorable little chirping sounds, adding to her unique charm.  She enjoys playing with balls and toys, both chasing and tug-of-war, and particularly likes puzzle toys filled with treats.  Daisy is an affectionate companion who loves being petted and will politely ask for belly rubs.  Daisy is house-trained and crate-trained. She can be trusted alone in the house for several hours, though the crate is her “safe” spot and she comfortably and willingly spends time in it. Daisy knows basic commands, rides comfortably in a car and takes regular, daily walks on a leash for exercise.  Daisy displays “friendly over-excitement” with all new things! Daisy can be vocal and pull on the leash, especially when visiting with new people or other dogs, but she is responsive to positive reinforcement and redirection.  Daisy recently spent time at "camp" with our friends at Parkway Pet Lodge for a week-long training program.  Daisy made doggy friends and made great progress sharpening her basic obedience skills and leash manners.  She can't wait to show off her new tricks! She's friendly with everyone and loves to play once guests are inside and the interactions with other dogs are positive and monitored.  She has not been observed around cats and has been known to chase.  Proper introductions with any resident animals, new situations and new people are always a must.   We imagine Daisy would be a perfect fit and thrive with an active family (adult-only or with older kids only) who can provide daily exercise and appropriate outlets for her energy. Time spent outside walking, soaking in the fresh air in her own yard, and lots of belly rubs from her people would be Daisy’s ideal. Daisy has shown improvement with consistent, positive training.  She would do best with experienced owners who can help her continue this training and socialization around other animals. Daisy will surely reward her new family with unwavering loyalty, affection and companionship. Daisy is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, preventatives and tested negative for heartworm.  Her most recent exam was in July 2025.  She has a record of a continuity of veterinarian care and, as per the vet, is an overall healthy dog. Her date of birth is April 2021.  If you are interested in adopting Daisy, the first step is to complete an online application at animaladvocates.net (under the "Adopt" menu). Please review all adoption guidelines and complete all questions on the application.  Thank you for considering a rescue dog from Animal Advocates and helping Daisy find her perfect match!     Animal Advocates - Pittsburgh, PA | PA Kennel License #8530    animaladvocatespgh294@gmail.com or 412-928-9777 All Dogs Reside in Volunteer Foster Homes  September 29, 2025, 5:40 pm

Chico is a 1 1/2 year old "Chiweenie" which is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix boy who is ready to find a family who can give him the love and guidance he deserves. There's a big heart tucked into his tiny frame. Chico is a bit unsure when meeting new people but once he has a little time to feel comfortable, he shows off his sweet and affectionate personality. He is still working on his housebreaking skills so he'll need someone willing to help him continue learning. If you enjoy earning the trust of a small, loyal companion, then Chico might be the perfect match for you.
