Story
Meet Gigi! This gorgeous gal came to Animal Friends through our Humane Investigations Team and was rescued from some unfortunate circumstances. When Gigi first got here she was very nervous which lead her being uncertain about trusting humans and going outside on walks. Gigi has since made wonderful progress and has become a staff and volunteer favorite! She can often be found going on long walks with her handlers, or cage breaks to the park to play ball, or out on a car ride around town to get some time out of her kennel and have herself a pup-cup! Gigi is a high energy, playful, bouncy girl who could live in a home with children 13 years and older. This sweet girl will require multiple meet and greets to get to know her, as she can take some time to warm up to new people and learn how to trust. We know she came from an unfortunate home life previously, so we don't blame this sweet girl for wanting to make sure that she's safe before she warms up to someone! Gigi would prefer to be the only pet in the home, as she is not a fan of canine or feline friends. Gigi is one of our Extra Loved residents. Although all our resident animals get plenty of love, many of them come from backgrounds where they may need a little extra care, extra attention, and extra patience. To help this special resident find their adoptive home, a generous donor has sponsored their adoption donation, to help them feel extra loved! Gigi is also a part of our Rosie's Rule program. Animal Friends has teamed up with Fi Smart Dog Collar to provide GPS-enabled dog collars for Animal Friends' canine residents who may be at an increased risk of becoming separated from their handler. Once outfitted with a Fi Collar, Rosie's Rule dogs will keep their collar through adoption along with a one-year subscription to the Fi App - at no cost to their new family Fill out an application; ThinkingOutsideTheCage.org All of our animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped! Story
Meet Odyssey! This good boy is 6 years old and came to us as a transfer from a partner organization and is full of energy and joy. Odyssey is a big, happy dog who doesn't always realize his size and can get a little mouthy when excited, but he's also very sweet, soft, and eager to please. He's food-motivated, loves treats, and is already working on basic manners. He would do best with an experienced family who can give him plenty of exercise and positive reinforcement. He could potentially live with younger kids as long as they're comfortable with a strong, energetic dog. He could live with anotehr dog pending a meet and greet, and would prefer a home with no cats. Do you want to be his new best friend? Odyssey is a part of our SCI Fayette Training Program, which means he is currently residing off campus at the Fayette State Correctional Institution where he lives with an inmate. While there, Odyssey enjoys enrichment activities, positive reinforcement and fear-free training. Basically, he lives full time with his new best friends and learns manners to prepare him for you -- his future family! Fill out an application -> thinkingoutsidethecage.org All of our animals are altered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines before being made available for adoption. WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🌟 Meet Gypsy – “Half the height, double the fun” 🌟 Gypsy is a 2-year-old, 28-pound sweetheart with Cattle Dog coloring and Basset Hound legs—aka the ultimate “off-road edition.” She may be a low rider, but don’t let those short legs fool you…this girl is built for adventure! Gypsy loves her walks, is getting better and better on leash, and would make a fantastic hiking buddy. When she’s not scouting for squirrels (her favorite hobby), she’s happily following her person around the yard, supervising all outdoor projects like the best little forewoman on four paws. She’s playful (sometimes with toys, sometimes with your shoelaces), great with people, and does well with other dogs. Cats are still an unknown, but given her love for squirrel-chasing, they may prefer she keeps her fan club elsewhere. ✅ Dog-friendly ✅ Loves the great outdoors ✅ House & crate trained ✅ The perfect mix of sass, spunk, and snuggles Gypsy is looking for an active family who will appreciate her zest for life, laugh at her low-rider zoomies, and love her for the goofy, loyal, one-of-a-kind pup she is. 🎉 Short legs, big dreams—Gypsy is ready to hit the trails and your couch with equal enthusiasm! WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🤠 Meet Texas – The Handsome Gentleman with a Heart as Big as His Name and an Even Bigger Personality! 🤠 Howdy, y’all! Texas here — 1.5 years old, 50 pounds of pure southern charm, and proof that everything really is bigger (and better) in Texas! 🐾 Saved just two hours before his time ran out (all from just lack of space), this good ol’ boy hasn’t wasted a second of his second chance. He’s living life like every day’s the State Fair — full of love, laughter and of course, a snack or two. Texas is loyal to the core and sweeter than Texas known famous sweet tea. He’s never met a stranger — tall folks, small folks, and everyone in between get greeted with a wagging tail and his signature “aw shucks” smile. He’s got a shiny coat that glows like a Texas sunset (seriously, bring your shades 😎), and a personality that’s equal parts goofball and gentleman. Whether you’re heading out for a hike (don't worry if you forgot a water dish, he has mastered sharing your water bottle) or chillin’ for a Netflix marathon, Texas is 100% in — as long as he’s by your side. And this man’s got skills: ✅ House trained ✅ Walks great on leash ✅ Plays well with other dogs ✅ Professional-level snuggler ✅ Water bottle drinker extraordinaire 💦 (he’s mastered the technique — no spill zone here!) He hasn’t met any cats yet, but with proper introductions, we reckon this easygoing cowboy could make peace with just about anyone. If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who’s equal parts adventure buddy and cuddle connoisseur, Texas is your guy. ❤️ Adopt Texas — because this Lone Star boy is ready to light up your world, one tail wag and water bottle sip at a time. 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org!

This little Chihuahua dude is basically a walking comedy show — zooming across the floor one second, tripping over his own paws the next, and looking way too proud about it. He’s playful, cuddly, and has the uncanny ability to make you laugh even when he’s chewing on the corner of your sock (again). Simon is super social and gets along great with other dogs. He’s sweet, affectionate, and absolutely lives for attention — because, honestly, how could the world not revolve around him? He’s that perfect lil’ hunk of clay, ready to be molded into your best friend, adventure buddy, and personal entertainer. WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 💎 Meet Crystal – A Delicate Gem Ready to Shine 💎 At 3 years old and 26 pounds, Crystal is a soft-hearted sweetheart who’s still learning that the world can be kind. Coming from a hoarding situation, she’s understandably shy with new people and experiences. What she needs most isn’t fancy or flashy—it’s patience, gentleness, and time to let her true sparkle emerge. Like her name, Crystal is something rare and beautiful. With a little warmth and a lot of love, she’ll transform from a fragile gem into a radiant, trusting treasure. She’s already showing her softer side (literally)—she’s discovered a deep appreciation for all things cozy: soft blankets, soft pillows, and soft beds. She’s decided that comfort is, in fact, the cat's meow...err, the dog’s bark! 🐾 Crystal does wonderfully with other dogs and would do best having a confident 4 legged sibling to help her fit in and feel comfortable. But cats? Yeah, that’s gonna be a ‘nope’ from her — she prefers friends who bark back She would also do best in a quieter home with no small kiddos, where her person was retired or works from home. Crystal doesn’t ask for much—just a safe home where she can finally rest, heal, and learn that love doesn’t have to be scary. Once she trusts you, her affection shines through like sunlight through glass—steady, warm, and endlessly pure. She’ll reward your patience tenfold with quiet love, loyalty, and those gentle tail wags that mean everything. If you’re the kind of person who believes that the best treasures take time to reveal their beauty, Crystal is waiting for you. 💖 ✨ Apply today at haydudeequine.org and help this hidden gem find her forever sparkle. ✨
