Story
The name Juno in mythology refers to the wife of Jupiter, queen of heaven and goddess of light, birth, women and marriage, or it just refers to a woman of stately bearing and regal beauty. We're not sure if the person who named her was thinking of this historical information when she named Juno, but this dog with the beautiful chocolate brown coat came to Pet Friends after her owner died. A small to medium sized pup who is about two to three years old, Juno is a happy and friendly gal who likes to be on the go sometimes, while at other times, she is happy to find a sunny spot to lay and ponder life. Juno is extremely well behaved in a car and she walks like a pro on a leash. However, be aware that she is an enthusiastic and mighty chewer, so she will need only the most durable of toys or bones to ensure they survive more than a few minutes! We've also learned that she makes some of the most unusual noises, which just adds to her charm. Come on down and meet this beautiful lady!

Nala Jean

American Bulldog

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Strong, active female searching for an equally strong and active companion to go on adventures. Nala Jean is a beautiful, special girl who is looking for someone who can accommodate her capabilities - can scale a 6 foot wall with little effort, can jump high enough to look a 6 foot person in the eyes, and can escape a flimsy kennel quicker than you can spell "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Nala is not a dog who wants to lay around the house all day - she wants to get up and go, and loves to ride in the car! Based on the experience of volunteers who are very familiar with her personality, she seems to be comfortable with women from the get-go, but she can be a little leery of men, and needs a slow introduction to them. However, once she gets to know you (male or female), she will shower you with kisses and want to spend all her time near you. Nala is also selective about dogs and would likely be better suited to a home without small children. If you are a person who wants a dog that can share your active lifestyle and can give Nala the guidance and environment she needs, you will gain a devoted companion who will likely never tire out before you do.

Story
Barney was a stray picked up by animal control and never claimed by anyone, so he came to Pet Friends to help him find a home. When he first came to the shelter, he was very nervous, didn't like to be petted, had trouble relaxing and was very jumpy. Now that he has been with Pet Friends for a while, he is no longer nervous, is able to relax and likes getting a good scratchin'. While his jumpiness has improved, he still sometimes thinks jumping is the best way to say hello to people or to convince you he needs the treat you're holding. Barney loves to go for walks, and does fairly well on a leash (he will pull sometimes when he is impatient to visit a tree that he thinks needs investigating), plus he enjoys playing fetch. He would need to be introduced to other dogs in a potential adopter's house to see how they get along, but he is a definite "no for cats. Overall, Barney is a happy, friendly guy who would be a great addition to an active family. A fenced yard would also be best for Barney to give him a place to burn off his energy.

Story
Meet Jordan, aka "Jordy". This sweet girl came to us after her owner suddenly passed away. Jordy spent 9 years very loved but didn't have much socialization with other animals or people and spent most of her day inside a small apartment. Her trips outside were only as far as the leash could reach off the porch. Jordy has adjusted very well at her foster home. She's fully trained to go outside and has even learned some new commands! She's getting better on her leash every day! Jordy is a cuddle bug and will no doubt live up to the old saying "mans best friend". She loves to snuggle on the couch and will sleep with you. Gives gentle kisses and even hugs! Don't let her age fool you! This lady loves to play fetch. There is NOTHING she loves more than a ride in the car. Jordy needs a loving, patient home that will give her time to adjust. Ideally, someone who is home all day and can spend lots of time just hanging out. She is working to overcome some separation anxiety. Jordan will do best in a home with no cats. She has been around dogs and is tolerable. An appropriate meet and greet would be required. Can you gve Jordy her second chance?
