Australian Cattle Dog

Male, Adult
Jefferson Hills, PA
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
We are looking for a responsible, experienced forever home for our 5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog. He has been part of our family (mom, dad, and two kids) and lives happily with our two other dogs—he truly loves his housemates and is affectionate with the people he knows. He is an active, playful dog who thrives on walks, playtime, and interaction. He is highly intelligent, knows all his basic commands, and is obedient. He is great with our kids and very affectionate once he trusts you. Important notes for potential adopters: He can be protective when strangers come to the house, which is typical of the breed. We strongly recommend an experienced owner who understands Australian Cattle Dogs and can provide consistent leadership. Ideally, a home without frequent kids coming in and out would be the best fit. He also has a couple of endearing (and funny) quirks: he sometimes tries to “herd” the kitchen cabinets and will jump at tree branches. These are classic herding-breed behaviors.

He takes treats very gently. He’s just patiently waiting for someone to give him a chance. If you’re a sucker for a big beautiful dog, he might be the one for you!

Story
Phoenix is a very calm, quiet dog who’s just starting to show us her true personality. It will take her a few minutes to warm up. She seems to be accepting of other dogs. We’ve walked her with other dogs and she wasn’t bothered by them at all. She’s very calm and quiet in her kennel. She meets people calmly and gently. If you’re looking for a calm, laid-back well adjusted dog Phoenix might be the girl for you.

Story
Looking at Shay‘s pictures, you will see that when she came to us. She was in pretty bad shape. Severely underweight so weak that she couldn’t stand on her own and barely able to lift her head. But she had Hope and determination in her eyes from the minute that we met her. We quickly got her the vet care that she needed and with a little time love nutrition, and lots of prayers she has made a full recovery. She’s gaining weight and strength with each passing day and she’s living her best life now. Shea is in a foster home with a dog and cat and children and she is doing wonderful. We think she should do best with older children as her play style can be rough and tumble and a little mouthy. We are so excited to see what the future holds for this little miracle girl
