Here are fun facts his owner wants you to know: - Twix / 3yo / Male/ Neutered / 65 lbs / In great health - Mastiff/Herding mix - Up to date on vax since 8/25/25 - Will do best with experienced, active dog owners who would be able to be consistent with good daily habits to strengthen his foundational training. No other animals, no small children in the house. - Has had multiple professional training experiences, all successful. Quick improvements in training sessions. He is passionate about learning. - Housetrained and very communicative about needing the bathroom. Will whine/grumble, give paw or look at door. - He is crate trained and loves his crate. He will crate himself to take naps throughout the day and also will tuck himself to bed when the sun goes down and sleeps through the night. - Not destructive in the home at all, even when left alone. No separation anxiety. - Walks nice on leash! Big sniffer. Knows heel. - Energy level is average/medium. Will match your energy to be very active or a couch potato. Greets with excitement for just a few minutes. - Shines with his family/pack and loves physical and verbal affection. - Total silly playful goofball and sweetie pie who just wants to love. - Loves long walks (hiking and camping), swimming, tug and fetch. - Nervous when not introduced to new dogs and new people but eased with structured introduction or pack walk. 100% success rate when introduced to new people. Selectively reactive with intact males. - No cats is best. He is ok with cats if the cat leaves the dog alone. He lived 2 years with a male cat and they kept to themselves and lived peacefully. - Not socialized around kids. Unknown. - Resource guards around main meals and high value treats, but not with training treats. Very easy to train (food motivated). Does not protect empty bowl. - One bite due to mishandling by his previous owner. The dog was nervous around a stranger and the previous owner did not intro or deescalate then dropped leash. After a professional reactivity evaluation, a trainer assessed him to be safe and not serious about bites. - Previous owner got him as a puppy from a friend’s litter. Tippy is a five pound bundle of love. She is about 8 years old. Tippy was surrendered to us when her owner passed away and her family could no longer care for her. Right before she entered our care, she jumped off of something that was too high for her and she broke her paw. Tippy has completely healed now and she is back to being able to run and play as usual. We have taught Tippy not to jump off of things and to use steps if necessary to get down from higher places. She is so smart and a quick learner. We do not have her go up and down flights of stairs simply because we do not want her to put consistent pressure on her joints or tiny bones. That's fine by Tippy because her favorite place is to be in her foster mom's arms. Tippy was adopted recently, but returned about 6 weeks later. While Tippy is super loving and sweet, she has what we consider a typical Chihuahua personality. She will nip and bite if she is scared or challenged at times. It proved to be too much for her adoptive family and as heartbroken as they were, they did not feel that they could manage Tippy's behavior. We completely understood and Tippy is back with her foster family. She acclimated back into her foster home without any issues. She proved to be the same sweet and sassy girl that she was when she left her foster home. She fell right back into her foster home routines. Tippy spends her time between two foster homes. In one home, Tippy has a little more freedom. She has a large space to roam, but we do not allow her to go up and down stairs (as we stated before). She is with one person in this home and there are no other pets. She loves the low-key life in this foster home. Sometimes Tippy also spends time in another foster home, In this home, there are other dogs that live with her. While Tippy does not mind the company of the other dogs, she does not like when they get too excited. We believe she would do best as an only pet or she would be fine living with another dog or cat that is super chill and tolerant of her big personality. In this home there are also multiple people. Tippy is a typical Chihuahua. She will attach herself to one person and want to be with them. She doesn't mind the other people in the household, but she definitely wants "her person" when that person is home. Tippy is crate trained, but in both homes she has a pen that she sleeps in at night. She sleeps through the night in her pen which is in the bedroom where her foster mom sleeps. She does have a large crate that she stays in in one foster home when her foster mom is away; in the other home she has a larger pen that she stays in. Because of Tippy's size and personality, we are looking for an experienced Chihuahua owner without children. Older teenagers may be okay as long as they will respect Tippy's space when she needs it. Tippy has had so much change in her little life the last few months. She has adjusted so well in each situation, but it's time for Tippy to find her forever home. She needs a Chihuahua savvy family who will understand what she wants or needs. She gives clear signals when she is scared and/or unhappy. Tippy is completely house trained! Which is amazing for a small dog! LOL! Tippy is wee-wee pad trained as well, but usually will do her business outside. She rarely uses her wee wee pad, but we do keep one in her pen for her. She is very clean and neat. She will need a little patience at first when meeting a new person. She can be a little shy. It doesn't take too long for her to understand that you are her friend. Tippy loves to go for walks outside. She also enjoys a good game of fetch. She is spunky, sassy, and sweet and cuddly all in one. This beautiful 5-year-old girl needs a new home. Betty has hip/knee dysplasia, a very manageable condition, but when she is not feeling well she doesn’t like to play and needs some downtime. She gives warning signs when she is overstimulated, and has never bitten anyone, but she did snap at the little girl in her current home and her parents feel she would do best in home without small children who might not understand when she needs space. Older children would be fine! Betty’s dysplasia doesn’t slow her down at all and only bothers her when she spends a long period of time running around. She currently does not need any pain medication. She loves going on walks and hikes! She also enjoys running around her backyard and chasing balls, and she likes to chase after the water from hoses and sprinklers. She adores swimming! Betty loves to cuddle, sit on your lap, and lay underneath blankets (she sleeps in bed with her parents). She likes bones, bully sticks, and chewing up stuffed animals. She is completely housetrained and rings a bell when she needs to go outside. She is good with commands and is very treat driven. Betty likes to be introduced slowly to new, unfamiliar dogs. She gets along with dogs she knows and routinely visits family/friends that have dogs of their own, but she can be a bit protective around her food. Her parents have no problem sticking their hands into her food bowl while she is eating, she is only protective of her food when another dog is near her. She can be a bit anxious when meeting new people, and may bark or growl, but only because she is afraid. Once she gets to know you, she is friendly and affectionate. Betty is spayed and her owners are getting her shots updated. She weighs about 50 pounds. Betty is afraid of fireworks and thunder and her vet has prescribed anxiety medication for these situations. Meet Sakari - a 4.5 yr old girl waiting to be your loving companionSakari was adopted from our shelter as a puppy. Her family returned her when she didn’t get along with the new puppy they got a couple months ago. She still seems bewildered at being in a noisy, busy shelter. Sakari is a medium sized retriever mix who loves being around people. She is gentle, loving and affectionate and will even stop on a walk to ask for a hug. During our photo shoots with her, she looks to the people around her with her sweet imploring eyes, giving her paw, asking for pets and giving kisses.Sakari is good on leash and has medium energy. She is house trained and crate trained, and she knows sit and paw. Sakari will bark at other dogs going by while in her crate or on walks, but if you call her name and say “sit”, she will stop, sit, and look to you quietly for what to do.Sakari is looking for a home where she can be the only pet.
