She takes a little bit of time to warm up to people, especially men, but once you have bonded to her she gives you her all. She will follow you wherever you go and greet you when you get home. She enjoys playing fetch, tug, and getting belly rubs. Sandi is potty trained, walks well on a leash and has good recall. She is a social butterfly and loves to go hiking. She has never been around young kids or cats, but she loves other dogs and truly is such an affectionate girl. She is currently being adopted out through foster care so if you are interested please fill out an online application and upon its approval we will get you connected with her foster family.

Story
Meet Miley! Age: 6 Weight: 57lbs Ms. Miley is a beautiful and friendly lady who has a smile and a wagging tail for everyone. She doesn't seem to need much in life and doesn't really care about toys or treats. All she wants is a human friend who will love her and give her ample attention. Miley enjoys leisurely walks and often has her nose to the ground for all the smells. She knows sit, but she'd rather stand by your side like the loyal friend she is. Miley would enjoy a home where she is the only canine star, but if you have another dog, a meet-and-greet at the shelter is required to be sure you all have a happy-ever-after ending. Ms. Miley is the perfect middle-age dog to be your easygoing, tenderhearted, and loving companion. She'd love to make your acquaintance, however she is being adopted out through foster care. If you are interested please fill out an online application and we will get you in contact with her foster parents!

Story
Meet Diva! Age: 1 Weight: 36lbs Diva wants to be the queen of your castle, but this petite and lively lady is anything but a diva. In her foster home, Diva followed all the house rules, including no barking and no chewing the furniture. She played well with her doggie foster sibling and gave lots of snuggles to her (human) teenage foster sibling. This playful princess definitely has the energy of a megastar, but she slept well after playing chase with her canine friend or doing some zoomies in the house. She loved watching dinner being cooked, chewing on her new antler, and lounging in a soft doggie bed. In just a few days, she was crate-trained and was well on her way to being fully house-trained. Diva is clearly very smart - already responding to sit and down, and she practices walking calmly on a leash multiple times a day. Diva would love to show you her loving personality that extends from her gently flopping ears all the way to her curly q tail. If you are interested please fill out an online application, we will give it to her foster family, and they will contact you!

Story
Meet Winter! Age: 4 Weight: 70lbs Winter may be covered in snow white fur, but she's full of love and warmth on the inside. She was even warm-hearted towards a calm, confident cat in her prior home. Winter doesn't have a cold heart towards other dogs, but she doesn't generally enjoy being around them. If you have another dog, we require the dogs to meet at WCAC to be sure they are comfortable with each other before the adoption. Winter must not have missed any school for snow and ice, because she already know sit, down, stay, and come. She's also had lots of practice playing fetch during recess and snuggling with her toys during nap time. In a prior experience, we learned Winter does best in a home that's away from the hubbub of a busy neighborhood that distracts from her peace. To further assist with her comfort, Winter does best in a crate when she is alone. We guarantee Winter will melt your heart and be just the cozy companion you're looking for, so come meet Winter at the shelter today!

Story
Meet Louis! Age: 10months Weight: 51lbs Louis is a long-limbed puppy who has the calm confidence of an older dog. Louis frolicks like a silly puppy with his toys one minute and then will sit perfectly still with only his eyes moving and keenly trained on everything around him. Louis is learning to walk on a leash - and doing SO well! He's also learning obedience commands, and has perfected his sit. Louis lives for the time he's with other dogs. He enjoys being chased / chasing or even just wandering around outside together. Louis would do best in a home with another dog to help him learn even more about becoming an adult dog - and so he has a doggie playmate for fun! If you are looking for a friend for your dog, please consider this fun, young guy. He will make a great canine companion and also be a great friend to you!

Story
Meet Alpha! Age: 1 Weight: 52lbs Alpha might be the smartest and most loyal dog you've ever met. This truly special dog would make a perfect running buddy or work-from-home companion. Even better, Alpha would be a great fit for someone who likes to regularly work and train their dogs. Alpha is highly motivated by both treats and attention, and he loves to learn. Alpha easily mastered many basic commands and has moved on to learning tricks like park it, jumping on command over barriers and through hula hoops, and playing brain games. Alpha is also exceptionally mannered on leash and will hold his position even with distraction and distance. As committed to learning as Alpha is, he is equally committed to loving and spending time with his people. Alpha builds strong human connections and wants to keep company with his human family as much as possible and, if possible, all the time. While Alpha does best with a calmer environment, he is still an active young dog who needs regular physical activity. Alpha enjoys all forms of exercise including walks and hiking, but his true love is playing fetch. The one thing Alpha does not like is cats, so he is not adoptable into a home with a cat. Alpha is good with most dogs, but he can be selective about playmates. If you have a dog, we will conduct a meeting with the dogs at the shelter to evaluate their fit. If you've been looking for a dog like Alpha, please complete an online application and a member of our staff will contact you.
