Meet Nougat! Fun Fact: Nougat loves tennis balls and will request games of fetch! She's very good about bringing the ball back and dropping it at your feet, even nudging it closer with her nose if you aren't throwing it fast enough. Rescue: Albert's Dog Lounge Age: Senior Weight: 13 lbs Health issues: Nougat had several tumors removed on 12/5: two lipomas and one probably cancerous mammary tumor. The tumor was removed entirely, however, this is something the adopter should keep a close eye on for any changes or new growths. She also had hernias in her groin repaired. She was spayed and had a dental cleaning at that time. Her bloodwork and everything else are within normal range. History: Nougat was surrendered along with other dogs due a change in her owner’s life. Foster home: Mequon, WI Activity level: Low, except for ball chasing Friendly with: other dogs, cats, and older, respectful children Sleep style: Nougat prefers to sleep pressed up next to you, under the blankets Meals: 1/3 cup Fromm kibble 2x a day Bark-o-meter: 3/10 Shedding meter: 4/10 Personality: Nougat does not act like a senior. She’s up for whatever you want: a game of fetch, a walk outside or just chilling. Best feature: A tail that never stops wagging Loves: Tennis balls, Sleeping in your bed and stealing cat toys Dislikes: Being Alone. Though she does okay when left alone for a few hours, she will be most happy with someone who is home most of the time and lets her sleep in bed with them. Spayed Microchipped Nougat will potty outside if given frequent breaks and if the weather is favorable, but may also have accidents. Very easy to leash walk Does not need a crate, just a comfy dog bed. She prefers not being crated UTD on vaccinations UTD on preventatives Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Story
Meet Samson! Nickname: Sam, Sammy Fun Fact: Someone forgot to tell Samson he's a dachshund! He loves to go outside and roll around in the snow! Rescue: Albert's Dog Lounge Age: Golden Oldie Weight: 15 lbs Health issues: Sammy had back surgery in 2016. He dribbles urine but happily wears a belly band. He is not on any Rx medications but does use D-Mannose urinary support (multiple options online, $15- $25 per month, depending on brand) History: Sammy's owner is getting married so he surrendered his elderly dogs Foster home: Delavan, WI Activity level: Moderate Friendly with: Friendly with: Adults and respectful older children (12 and up, please!). He is quite particular about other dogs, and would likely benefit from being an only dog. Cats are an unknown. Sleep style: Sammy will sleep in his own bed but he really would like to sleep cuddled up next to his owner underneath the covers. Sammy is a true Dachshund and that he loves to cuddle underneath covers. Meals: Sammy eats freeze dried breakfast and frozen for dinner. He loves liver treats for snacks, a good bully stick, or a no-hide bone Bark-o-meter: 1/10 Shedding meter: 1/10 Fashion: blue plaid belly bands (AKA "man pants") Walk out song: “Tub Thumping" by Chumbawamba. "I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never gonna keep me down" Favorite season: Samson loves the winter, someone forgot to tell him that dachshunds are not supposed to like the snow! Personality: Resilient, playful, loving, cuddly, sweet, funny Best feature: His super soft fur, his resilient nature, and his sweetness Signature Move: walking in a doggy treadmill while I wait for dinner (if only we were all so disciplined!) Love Language: cuddles and no one messing with his bones. Loves: Snow play time! Do you want to build a snowman with me? Bucket list: Learning to use the internet and your credit card. He thinks Amazon would be a super idea! Sammy is a really great kid and he's very sweet as soon as his foster mama met him he was giving kisses. He's a fun sweet dog just needs the right home that doesn't mind him wearing pants! He guards his bones, but not his food, and hoards his toys. He just needs other dogs to allow him his space..... and his stuffies. Neutered Microchipped Housebroken, but does dribble a bit from his IVDD (the reason for the surgery in '16) Good on leash, but he likes to meander and assumes you want to follow. Does well in a kennel or out of it, but his kennel is his safe space UTD on vaccinations UTD on preventatives Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Story
💥 Meet Carmy: Who Needs A Man When You Can Have THIS Man? 💥 Single, stunning, and slightly dramatic (doesn’t he sound perfect already?!), Carmy is the whole package. At just 2 to 3 years old, this handsome block-head of a heartthrob is out here living his best main-character life, and he’s looking for a human to join his story. Carmy has that rugged, misunderstood bad-boy energy, but with the emotional depth of a Keith Sweat song (YouTube it, youngsters). He’ll melt into your lap like butter, then act personally offended when you get up to grab a snack. Let’s be clear: Carmy will need to be your one and only. He’s not here to play fetch with your cousin’s doodle. He’s not interested in “making friends” or “doggy playdates.” Nah, Carmy is the Beyoncé of dogs- he doesn’t share the stage. He’s loyal. He’s hilarious. He’s dramatic. He will judge all your neighbors as he relentlessly keeps watch out the window. Then beg for a walk only to decide 10 minutes later that it's too hot. He’s an entire mood. 🔥 What Carmy brings to the table: Olympic-level “woos” when excited and gold medal recall! Excellent golfing skills Judging your neighbors more than even the crankiest member of neighborhood watch. A head like a bowling ball and a heart just as big A RBF that’ll have the mailman questioning his life choices 💅 What he’s not bringing: A tolerance for other dogs (he said what he said) Independent nature. Sleeping alone is overrated anyway. This guy wants to snuggle. Too much energy. A mile long walk and he is ready to chill. If you’ve got a dog-free home, a good sense of humor, and the emotional bandwidth to love something THIS MUCH—then congratulations, you may have just found your soulmate. Let’s be honest, who needs a guy when THIS guy is all you’ll need. Adopt Carmy. He’s got the looks, the loyalty, and the big energy your life’s been missing. Carmy is fostered in the Madison, WI area. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Story
Meet Waffles! Nickname: The Great Pretender. Waffles lied about being a senior to get accepted into Albert's Dog Lounge. His zoomies and joyful toy play gave him away quickly in his foster home. Breed: Lhasa Apso Rescue: Albert’s Dog Lounge Age: 5 years young... or younger. Weight: 14 lbs of pure scruffy joy Hometown: Milwaukee, WI Current digs: Madison, WI Personality Snapshot: I'm a total vibe. Let's just throw that out there now. I am the hot guy at school that all the girls want to ask to the Sadie Hawkins dance. I would be Sunshine, the blonde surfer dude QB in Remember the Titans. If I had a baseball cap, I would wear it backwards, and wear Nike sport slides. I would chill all summer by the pool and flash my beautiful smile. Sun's Out, Fluff's Out, ladies. Every time I got up to walk to the pool, those lady lifeguards would swoon. I would toss the football in the pool with my bros. I am THAT guy. I love all people, big, small, short, tall, male, female, babies, toddlers, kids, and adults. My talent is sniffing at your baby's dirty diaper until you change those poopy pants. I also excel at unpacking the toy box and blaming your children. Speaking of kids..... can I have one or two? Please? I LOVE children, and would thrive in a home where they will be my best friends. I love all the dogs, especially the ones who want to play with me, but if I am your one and only and YOU want to play with me, that is fine too. But wouldn't it be amazing if I had a sibling named Maple Syrup? Or Pancakes? Waffles Stats: Sleep style: currently in a crate, but I feel like you should let me sleep with you in your bed. Maybe? Please? Meals: 1/3 cup Fromm's Gold, twice daily. Nom nom. Snore-o-meter: 1/10 I am a polite sleeper Bark-o-meter: 3/10 I will let you know when someone is coming to the door, and will mildly protest when I am crated but otherwise, I am pretty polite. Shedding: 1/10 Be prepared to brush my flowing golden cream locks. Fashion sense: think swimming pool chic~ Hibiscus print board shorts and a Billabong tank top Signature color: bright pastels~ they pop against my sun-drenched curls Walk-out song: I am big into that other blonde guy who turns heads: Justin Timberlake. I love me some "Can't Stop the Feeling" Favorite season: Summer! It gives my adoring public the chance to ogle my fine, flowing locks. Dream job: Hair model, and unpacking toy boxes at Walmart. My unpacking speed in unparallelled! Special Notes: The rescue says that I remind them of the Dos Equis guy. A lot. I say that's not me (though I MIGHT be the most interesting dog in the world!) but there is no photographic proof of us ever being in the same room at the same time. Draw your own conclusions. I do mark indoors and am wearing a belly band right now, and I have a bad humping habit. However, I am scheduled for a neuter 1.16, because balls are for the football field, not rescue dogs, and there is a good chance that both of those issues will improve. I will likely also stop marking once I am feeling familiar and safe in a home. I have only been in foster for a short time. The Details: Neutered very soon Microchipped Housebroke (marks but that should improve with comfort level and neuter) Enjoys Happy zoomies Rides like a champ in the car Doesn't love it at the beginning but will use his crate Up to date on vaccinations & preventatives Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Story
Name: Bert Breed: Australian Shepherd Mix Weight: 44 pounds Age: Adult - maybe a very spry senior – he’s not giving away that secret! Rescue: Albert’s Dog Lounge Current Location: Madison, WI Housetrained: yes Crate trained: yes – I love my crate - I sleep and eat there! Bert, or Bertski, or Bertrand, had a not so great past marked by neglect, inadequate food, and minimal human/dog interaction. He’s done with that part of his life and is ready to move on to his best life where he can shower his humans with love, go on outdoor adventures, and sleep on soft warm beds! Things Bert needs/likes: A human/s with experience with working breed dogs. This is a must. Bert is experiencing a lot of new things all at once. He needs structure and guidance from someone who understands the intelligence and drive of these dogs. Bert is curious, smart, and loving. The effort spent training will be paid back in years of unconditional love.. A fenced yard. Bert’s an active boy and needs some safe space to stretch those legs. Snuggling. In addition to being an outdoor enthusiast Bert is a master snuggler. Other dogs after slow introductions. Adult humans with active lifestyles. Going on hikes and long walks. Private dog parks so he can kick out his jams without worrying about those dogs he doesn’t know. Things Bert dislikes/needs to avoid: Picking up: Bert cannot be picked up. He turns into a possessed demon if you levitate him off the ground. This is manageable with a basket muzzle. Bert’s fosters are working on counter training so this might be a thing of the past soon! Kids any age are a no-go. It’s not that Bert doesn’t like them, he likes everybody. But his personality can be too much for the kiddos. Public dog parks – these are way too stimulating. Cats are too exciting for Bert. He doesn’t leave them alone and has paid the price for this pestering. Behavioral considerations: Leash walking: Bert must be walked with a harness. He had an embedded collar when he arrived in rescue. We don’t want to put pressure on his throat/neck. He also pulls on his walks initially, calming down after the initial excitement. Car rides: Bert happily jumps in the car. He can’t wait to see where he might be going! Because of that excitement, he paces if left in the back unrestrained. He prefers to ride in style calming in a crate. “Strange things” on the street: Bert doesn’t seem to know about city noises and activity. He may bark at people on the sidewalk and strange dogs, but he stops when you remind him that his humans will keep him and the house safe. Taking treats: food is so, so good. Bert gets excited by even the most boring treats (I’ve tried Charlie Bears – trust me, they are not great). He tries to put treats in his mouth as fast as possible in case they disappear. He is learning how to take treats gently and like everything else he is learning, he’s getting better every day. Impulse control: Bert can get overstimulated quickly. This is most likely from spending much of his life living outside without much human/canine interaction – okay, he had a dog buddy on the property he was taken from, but that is the only dog he ever interacted with before being rescued (he’s a little awkward). If you have experience with working breed dogs, love to train and build a bond with your best friend, love to hike and snuggle in equal measures, this fun loving, loveable, funny boy might just be the one for you! Neutered Microchipped Housebroken Crate trained UTD on vaccinations UTD on preventatives Good in a car Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.
