Story
Kiki and Kitsune, named after the animals we resembled when we were saved. Kiki after a coyote name, I mean... look at my ears :) And Kitsune is a fox name, I looked like a little fox when I was saved!! Us girls are sweet and loving and happy with people we know, but you can't blame us for being nervous with new people- we were found abandoned in a field in the deep valley of TX with our dead mother and siblings in a trash bag with us........................ So yes, we are nervous with new people but honestly- new people are only new for a day or two- then you are OUR peeps!! We do not have to be adopted together, but our story is the same so we will share it together... We came to the rescue absolutely petrified but geez, our foster mama was so nice and fed us wonderful food and we were loving on her quickly. So glad to be safe, fed and loved! Now we are preparing for our families and that must be you! We are both gorgeous girls, Kitsune has grown to almost her sister's size, so both are looking to be large full grown pups. Local adoption only so they can meet your families and you can get to know them too! ADOPT...DON'T SHOP!!! SO MANY LIVES DEPEND ON IT!! Local adoption is $250 each (in TX)

Story
Five Great Lakes and Five Great Puppies! Hi, I'm Ontario. I'm a wonderful mix of Australian Shepherd/German Shorthaired Pointer/Blue Heeler. My siblings and I arrived here a bit skinny, but the kind folks have been filling our tummies with yummy food. I'm a bit shy, but once I get to know you, I'll be your best friend. I love cuddles and naps, and I'm told I give the best puppy kisses. I'm still learning about the world, but I'm eager to explore and play. Adopting me means endless love, snuggles, and a loyal friend for life. I promise to bring joy and happiness to your home. Will you be my forever family? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas at least monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. ##2008751##

Story
This beautiful girl is Callie! Callie is a smart, medium sized 2-year-old, mixed breed little lady. She is housebroken and does fine in or out of a kennel. She is equal parts playful and calm! Personality: Callie can be a little shy at first but after a few treats she is your best friend. She loves humans’ affection!  Callie enjoys being around her people the most, followed by a good game of fetch. Energy Level: Callie is a perfect mix of spunky and lazy. You want to go for a long walk? Count her in! Do you want to just hang on the couch on a rainy day? She will be belly up ready to cuddle! Callie goes with the flow of the household and your energy. Other Dogs: Callie gets along great with the two resident dogs she is currently being fostered with. She listens to their cues very well. We believe Callie would love to have a playful fur sibling in her forever home but does well on her own too. Kids: Callie is being fostered with a 3-year-old and does very well with him and his unpredictable movements. She is excited to see him when he comes home from school! If she is feeling that she needs some space, she removes herself and lays somewhere else. Being very food motivated, Callie will thrive in training classes. We especially think she would love agility or fly ball classes! Callie is excited to meet her forever people soon! If you would like to meet Callie, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.      Hello, my name is Benji! I am a very handsome young adult male Mini Aussiedoodle who doesn’t like a lot of commotion, but I love to cuddle, and I prefer women. Truth is, I am highly sensitive and reactive to ‘stranger danger’! That’s right, I react to people approaching the front door, coming into the house, and even people approaching my kennel. I know…it’s not something I’m proud of but I’m working on it…really, I am!! In fact, foster mom is trying to help me associate new people (strangers) with positive outcomes and I am confident that I will be successful in time but for now it is still a work in progress. In the meantime, mom sometimes puts a muzzle on me and although it doesn’t bother me at all I prefer, of course, not to wear it so my new family will need to commit to working with me on training. Muzzle training may make me look scary, but it allows me to safely meet and work on my training so I can be happy!  After all, consistency, patience, loving encouragement, and LOTS of mental and physical stimulation are the keys to my success!!! I am good with older kids, cats, and other dogs; and my favorite activities include going on my daily leashed walks or car rides; hiking; exploring; eating treats like plain Greek yogurt or pumpkin; playing with small squeaky toys and other dogs; chewing on Benebones; and running zoomies in the yard so the yard at my new home will need to be fenced! Hee, hee!! I also hope to have a small, confident doggie companion who might help me overcome some of my anxiety about strangers!!! By the way, I almost forgot to mention that I am a prodigy…no, really! I know everything from how to do my business outside to a deluge of commands like “sit”, “down”, “come”, “kennel/crate”, “wait”, “leave it”, “outside”, and “go potty”!! Thankfully, I enjoy learning, especially when I have a strong, confident, respectful leader, and I really love pleasing my people!! Anyway, foster mom says that I am the “most affectionate” dog she’s ever met and as hard as I try, I simply cannot disagree with her! Hee, hee!! All I need in my life now is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving forever family who will not only NEVER give up on me but will commit to helping me overcome my fears!! I promise that not only am I totally worth it, but I will enrich your life in ways you could never imagine!!! Love, Benji Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.   This dog has received grooming with us at Underdog Rescue, but was likely neglected of grooming attention until he came into our care.  It can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as Doodle mixes require daily brushing.  Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average of $150 per appointment.  Adopters should be prepared for such expenses.  Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Visit this link  www.underdogrescuemn.com/donate   to donate.  (Please note: A Paypal account is not necessary to use Paypal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hey there, wonderful humans! I'm Kiwi, the pint-sized dynamo with a heart full of love and a zest for life. Let me give you the lowdown on the awesomeness that is me: Picture this – shades of brown and cream, one ear perpetually popped up, and eyes that tell stories – one blue and one brown. Yep, that's me, a young Mini Aussie turning heads wherever I go! Now, here's the thing – they say I'm a bit hard of hearing, but I've got my own language. I have a slight hearing loss due to being born with hydrocephalus.  We think I can hear deeper sounds, but not higher pitches. Silent hand claps for applause (and belly rubs, of course), gentle taps on the ribs for attention, and some cool hand signals like thumbs up for SIT and a wave for "come on down." I'm mastering the art of communication!  I am sometimes a bit unsteady on my feet and circle around when stimulated - that's some of my hydrocephalus showing.  But, there are no long term needs known at this time.  I might have some uniqueness, but it makes me special! Life's a classroom, and I'm here to soak it all in. I do require a fenced yard in my forever home AND need to be leashed in the yard until I understand when my people want me to come inside. My people said when we go on walks, it is best for me to be double leashed as I am skittish and a flight risk. She says “Safety First” before we go outside. When I meet new people, I am a little nervous and need some time to warm up. There are so many new things to see and sniff, I get a little overwhelmed. I am always excited to go home play with my toys. I have Crocky, Bunny, Mousey, Ropey and Bully – I like toys that are tuff so I can chew and chase with them. We recently started playing frisbee – I understand the chase part and we are working on the return part – hee hee! Hopefully my forever family will keep practicing with me. My people said that I am growing and learning so much – they are calling them “light bulb moments” because you can actually see it when I am excited and understand something new. They said I would be a good candidate to try out agility, fly ball or rat hunting because I am a high energy dog with an active mind. Did I mention my love for food? It's basically everything, and I'm open to culinary adventures! Except chicken, that sometime gives me tummy rumbles – ick. Also, sometimes I get crabby if there is another dog around at mealtime, I would suggest that meals are served in a kennel. My people have a puzzle food toy that I LOVE, foster mom says it is a great way to help me slow down and focus at mealtimes. We are also working on kennel training. So far, I prefer a wire kennel over a plastic kennel. And foster mom has been letting me sleep in the bed. Although I tend to get into things so she keeps me on a leash, even during sleepy time! Again, safety first! Potty training is a work in progress, my people said I am a whirling dervish when nature calls – hee hee. I definitely have a “signal” if you are paying attention! Typical of my breed, I would thrive in a home that will keep my mind and body active, give me a job and keep me busy. I think obedience school or agility training would be a fantastic way to bond and learn new things. My people said that I am very smart and started counter surfing and exploring into things I shouldn’t, kinda like a toddler (hee hee) so they provide supervision and things for me to do. I may be a tiny tot, but I've got a big heart and a spirit ready for adventures. If you're up for teaching, loving, and navigating life together, let's make it happen! I'm here, ready to become the most awesome dog you've ever known.  *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters.  Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter.  Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized.  If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses.  Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.  Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a   particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up.
