Story
ymphony is a stunning blue merle female with two blue eyes. Turning 2 in June, Symphony has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on shots. Symphony has a very shy, quiet personality. She came to rescue very undersocialized and really unsure of how to handle living in a home where she has freedom to move freely. Initially, she would hide in her crate and would startle at all noises, leading her to run back to her crate. Now she is showing more curiosity in exploring her environment and will now cuddle on the couch with her foster parents and foster diblings. Her first instinct is to run and hide, so she is considered a flight risk at this time. She does enjoy walks, but still does panic at strange noises. Symphony is learning that there's much to explore and her curious nature is slowly emerging. Symphony is crate trained and does love her crate. However, during the day, she is allowed to be out and about and she will hang out quietly while her foster dad works from home. Symphony is also doing well with the resident dogs; she's not really playing with them yet, but will lay quietly nearby or cuddle a bit with them on the couch. At this time, it is believed that she could do well as an only dog or with another dog who is not pushy. Symphony will need a home that is more quiet with less foot traffic and understands her need for slow introductions, extra time for adjusting to new environments, and a willingness to match her pace. She will not be a dog that will instantly bond with you and be ready for all of the adventures right away. But her heart is open and she's looking for her forever family to bond with. The details: Needs a fence: Yes Good with cats: Unknown Good with dogs: Yes if they're not pushy Good with kids: Seems fine, but probably would prefer older kids or teens who are more quiet & calm All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $400 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Story
Welcome back to rescue Mia! Mia, affectionately known as "Pork Chop", finds herself back into rescue for the second time. Originally ARM got her in 2022 when she was found as a stray. When she was listed on Petfinder, her owner contacted us and said that she had been looking for her for months. The decision was made to return the dog to her as it seemed that there was a connection between Mia and the family. A few weeks ago, we got a call from Home Again (Thank goodness for microchips!) that a dog with one of our microchips had been found laying alive, exhausted in the middle of a busy road. A kind woman rescued her, brought her to a local vet to check for a chip and took her home to keep her safe. Mia came to rescue filthy and full of mats. She also has ballooned from 50 to 87 pounds. Other than desperately needing to lose weight, Mia is an otherwise healthy and happy 5 year old black & brown Aussie mix. She is spayed and has been brought up to date on her shots. Mia is crate trained and is housebroken. Her fosters are now working to help her lose weight. Mia has gotten along with the resident dog and adores attention from people. It is not known on how well she does with kids, so we currently are recommending older children until we have opportunities to test her against younger children. We don't want to require a fence for Mia as she really does love her people amd wants to be with them. However, prospective families need to be able to show how they will keep her safe until reliable recall has been established. The details: Needs fence: Not currently required, but established recall before having her off lead is highly recommended Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown Good with kids: Age 10 and older All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. Story
Odin is a 6 year old, neutered male black bi Australian Shepherd. He is 37 pounds, housebroke, good with cats, and likes people. He does pull on leash some, is well mannered in the house and can sit, down and shake. Odin is currently living in a foster with 6 other dogs with no issues. Odin was a transfer from a shelter in Iowa due to the fact that he has issues with body handling and needed some work in cooperative care to get him comfortable with grooming and vet visits. His foster has worked on muzzle training and desensitizing him to brushing. Odin is very treat motivated and loves his training sessions on the grooming table. All grooming except nail trimming can now be done with no drama. The details: Needs fence: no, has a great recall Good with dogs: yes, actively avoids conflict in house with 6 other dogs. Good with cats: yes Good with kids: Older kids would be fine. All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Story
Koda is a 3 year old, 45 pound, neutered male aussie with a sordid list of offenses from two prior homes - really the kind of behaviors that made us think we would not be adopting this dog out. Legal note required by our lawyer if we had one: (details will be fully shared with interested adopters but we prefer not to make allegations public since he has not been convicted by a court of law - ). We will say that it involves rowdy neighbor children and goats and chickens (RIP cluckers)- a very sordid story indeed. BUT.... then he came to a foster home and has been good as gold the entire 2 months he has been here.... including around sheep and chickens. We have nothing - we don't know why he has reformed. So if you also think that this is the cutest dog you have ever seen and are willing to take on a reformed criminal, please ask us about Koda. Koda is crate trained, good on a leash, has a great recall and is off leash outside in a rural setting (including around free range chickens) and loves attention and his tennis ball. He does have some stranger danger but warms up fast. The details: Needs fence: No Good with dogs: Yes Good with cat: with cats that don't run Good with kids: yes (those that belong to his family - he was even greqt with a not so nice to him wild toddler.) Story
This beautiful 4 year old blue merle female with a full tail weighing at 70 lbs is looking for a new home after she was abandoned and found by her current foster after Lady wandered onto the farm property. Lady is spayed and up to date on shots. Lady is an adventurous spirit at heart. She loves people and attention and she is keen to explore new places. She's also smart; knows sit, lie down, speak, shake, and army crawl (for cute's sake!) She is house trained and walks well on a leash. Lady is good with dogs who are chill (but isn't afraid to put pushy, socially aggressive dogs in their place), LOVES car rides, and has great recall. The details: Need fence: Needs established recall before being off leash Good with dogs: Yes, but will tell off pushy dogs Good with cats: Yes Good with kids: not good with small kids; is good with older children and teens All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Story
Lulu was adopted from ARM and now must find a new home due to her family's personal situation. Lulu is a fun loving- very playful- dog of under 2 years. We have had her since she was weaned. She loves being petted and getting affection and attention. She loves everyone in the house but lays near the one who provides the most care to her. She does not seem to be wary of anyone after a brief introduction. Lulu enjoys being vocal and takes advantage of her last outdoor time of the day by barking into the night. She has a wild high pitched whine to protest her kennel time but once she knows she needs to stay for a bit she settles down. She has not had contact with cats or young children and still has to learn manners especially when excited by novel objects, experiences and spaces. She is open to gentle play but also enjoys getting stirred up and playing rough. She can jump very high and is very happy! She loves being outdoors and has no problem taking in the sights and sounds of nature for hours by herself! She will benefit from leash training and more time traveling in a car and Introduction to more dogs and even a dog park! She is a very curious young dog and she is eager to please and willing to adapt to her people and learn new things. She doesn’t enjoy being left home alone BUT is not destructive in a kennel or when left to wander the house unless there is accessible garbage or food, she will get into virtually guilt free. Ideally, she needs a family who is firm about expectations, can have a routine for her and wants her with them for the adventure of life. She was a very good puppy - (wanting to please, able to just lay quietly next to a companion and all about play) and with a bit more training and some maturity she is going to be a GREAT dog! The details: Needs fence: Good with dogs: Good with cat: unknown Good with kids: unknown, older kids ONLY All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers.
