Story
BLITZEN AND HER BEST FRIENDS PLAN TO BE AT A MEET AND GREET SUNDAY DECEMBER 7 12:30 -2:30 AT PET EVOLUTION ON 1074 GRAND IN ST. PAUL. COME AND CUDDLE AND MAYBE GO HOME WITH A FRIEND FOR LIFE. Blitzen and her siblings were born in an abandoned trailer in a very remote rural area. The trailer was strewn with trash and debris, the floor was mostly rotted out and it seemed ready to collapse at any minute. Someone noticed a nursing mom ‘hunting’ (pictured) for food and followed her to the trailer and discovered the puppies. Mom was essentially feral and could not be caught. The pups were about 7 weeks old so the Good Samaritan contacted a PUP volunteer who spent hours carefully finding and catching the puppies. Initially they were very fearful but soon decided a warm bed and a full food bowl were pretty nice. They adapted well to their foster home and people, now loving playing, cuddling with their foster mom and friends. We did DNA testing on one little boy from the litter, but the results won’t be in until mid December. Dogs from the area who have DNA testing often have 20 or more breeds and nearly always have some shepherd, husky, cattle dog, and even the largest pooches have a bit of Chihuahua. We strongly suspect Blitzen has some shepherd in the genetic mix. It is best guess because we don’t have a clue who daddy is and are only guessing at birth date, but we believe that puppy will be in the upper end of mid-size when full grown. She weighed 8.4# at her vet appointment on 12-3. The vet believes pup is 8-9 weeks old now. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Puppy has been vet checked, is vaccinated and de-wormed. She will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. Her required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that she be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. Video link https://youtube.com/shorts/A5_43KSJxyE Filename

Story
Odin is a 5 year olds, neutered male black bi Australian Shepherd. He is 37 pounds, housebroke, good with cats, and likes people but is bit nervous around strangers. He does pull on leash some, is well mannered in the house and can sit, down and shake. Odin is currently living in a foster with 6 other dogs with no issues. Odin was a transfer from a shelter in Iowa due to the fact that he has issues with body handling and needs some work in cooperative care to get him comfortable with grooming and vet visits. His foster is working on muzzle training and desensitizing him to brushing. Odin is very treat motivated and loves his training sessions on the grooming table. Scroll down on our facebook to see a live session on cooperative care using Odin as a demo. In that video I mention that Odin is headed to a new home. We took him there but the resident dog and Odin decided very quickly that they did not want to share a home and he came back to his foster the same day. The details: Needs fence: no, but unsure how he is off leash Good with dogs: yes, actively avoids conflict in house with 6 other dogs. Good with cats: yes Good with kids: likely not due to issues with bodily handling. Older kids would be fine. All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $400 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Aussie Rescue of MN is here for support, advice and as a safety net for our dogs for the rest of their lives.

Story
Eunice came to rescue from Animal Control. She is a spayed female black tri Australian Shepherd, approximately a little over a year old. Eunice is a high energy dog whose foster has worked hard on her tendency to jump on people, so this behavior is much more controlled. She will sit and lie down on command as it is her opinion that these are fun tricks to do! She loves her stuffed toys but does have to monitored when she has them as to not shred them to pieces. (This is why we can't have nice things Eunice... you need to be nice to your toys if you want them to last Eunice...) She loves to be pet and talked to - her foster has been working on her house manners, observing her to be well-intentioned but a diamond in the rough. She needs a home that will enjoy training her and she loves to learn. She does have an off switch - she will enjoy herself on the deck and watch the birds. She loves her crate and has learned to "wait" to come out. She also was recently groomed and was a very good girl for the groomer. The details: Needs fence: Likely no, but needs established trust before being off lead Good with dogs: Yes, better with neutral dogs Good with cats: Not really; does like to chase those that run Good with kids: Seems to be All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Story
Meet Marti! Marti is a 5 year old, neutered, double merle, male, who came to us almost completely feral. He is a slightly pudgy 40 pounds, crate trained, house broke (but still leaks a little urine when sleeping although we haven't tried medication for that yet as it has been improving). As he is double merle he has some vision issues as well. Marti will need a very special owner that is willing to give him plenty of time to learn to trust. At his foster home Marti gets along with other dogs, is great with cats, and walks off leash in a rural setting. Marti is that lower energy aussie everyone's looking for and would like a quiet home. Marti will need more training in cooperative Care which his foster is working on and is easy to implement. The details: Needs Fence: Depends on setting (needs to gain trust to be leashed, fence necessary in busier area) Good With Dogs: Yes Good With People: Needs patience Good with cats: Yes All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. Story
Meet Finn, the sweetest boy with the brightest smile! Finn is a friendly, playful Border Collie who’s ready to bring joy and energy into his forever home. He’s fantastic with other dogs and would love a canine buddy to romp around with—but he’s just as happy being your one-and-only adventure pal. This smart guy is fully housetrained, eager to please, and quick to settle in once he knows he’s safe. Finn adores walks, follows along beautifully, and lights up when it’s time to play with toys—tug, fetch, squeaky toys… he’s not picky, he loves them all. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a sweet heart and a happy-go-lucky spirit, Finn is your dog. He’s ready to explore the world with you, snuggle after a good play session, and become the best friend you’ve been hoping for. Finn recently met a couple of cats and did really well. He was curious, respectful and then quickly interested in other things! He also does well with older kids (age 12+) and loves to get lots of attention and snuggle. Finn is waiting to meet you—come say hello!
