Story
A beautiful, unique brindled 6 year old low rider, Addie is a sweet, sensitive, lovable, affectionate, mellow and somewhat shy pup who has had a rocky start. She is now looking for a peaceful and calm place to begin anew with someone who loves her. Addie has good leash manners while harnessed which makes her a pleasure to walk. She is housetrained and will sleep quietly in her own space all night. Addie gets along well with other dogs, but can be a bit timid around new people initially. Once she knows you, it's all tail wags and face licks. Addie finds cats a little too exciting, so no cats for this girl. She rides nicely in the car and hops in and out of the back seat easily. She settles quickly once she knows she's in a safe environment and will give you years of delightful devoted companionship. Addie will do best in a home without young children, but she'd thrive with older kids or adults who appreciate a lovable companion. She will be a wonderful companion with you in your peaceful and predictable home. Be sure to complete an application on line and come to our Meet & Greet Saturday 11:30-1:30. If you are interested in this dog, please submit an application directly to our website at www.ny-petrescue.org. Only applications submitted directly to Petrescue will be considered.

Story
Meet slinky fka Eli! Eli is a sweet, laid-back about 7-8 year-old little dachshund mix looking for his forever home through absolutely no fault of his own. He came to us from an over crowded shelter where he spent a couple months being nursed back to health by a loving foster home. He has blossomed into a happy, loving companion and continues to carry that same personality in his RDR foster home. Slinky fka Eli is housebroken, walks beautifully on leash, knows his basic commands, and has wonderful house manners. He loves being with his people, getting attention and belly rubs, and curling up on a dog bed. He has done wonderfully with other dogs and cats. He is also crate trained. Eli is heartworm positive, but Real Dog Rescue will cover the cost of his treatment. This little guy is truly a wonderful companion—affectionate, easygoing, smart, and eager to please. He deserves a forever family who will love him as much as his foster family does. Apply at Realdogrescue.org/adopt

Story
Meet Ren Ren is a sweet boy who has already experienced far more hardship than any dog should. He and his companion, Stimpy, were found abandoned inside a Bronx apartment after the building’s former superintendent left, leaving the dogs behind with no one to care for them. They were eventually discovered by the new superintendent, who found them in terrible condition. Both dogs were heavily infested with fleas, and they had been left without the basic care they needed. Despite being abandoned and neglected, Ren is now getting the care, attention, and kindness he should have received all along. His past may explain where he came from, but it does not have to determine where he goes next. Ren deserves a safe home, a soft place to sleep, and someone who will make sure he is never forgotten again. We hope his next chapter is the one where he finally gets to be someone's beloved companion. Ren and Stimpy need to be adopted together. After everything they have been through side by side, their bond is incredibly important to them, and they deserve to begin their new life together in a loving forever home where they can finally feel safe, cherished, and never alone again. An adoption bio is only a snapshot of who an animal is. For more information including personality, needs, and what type of home may be the best fit, please reach out to our Adoptions Team.

Story
Roki is a 1-year-old Dachshund/Terrier mix who has already been through quite a journey. He came to us after being hit by a car and was facing a medical deadline, but thankfully he got his second chance! After 8 weeks of strict cage rest, Roki has healed beautifully and is finally ready to start the next chapter of his life—finding his forever family. Now that he’s feeling better, Roki is showing everyone what a fun-loving, energetic young boy he is! He loves being around people, gets along great with other dogs, and is always ready to be part of the action. This happy boy has plenty of energy and would love an active family who will include him in their adventures and make him part of the party. Like any young dog, Roki is still working on his puppy manners and housebreaking, so his forever family should be prepared to continue his training and give him the structure and consistency he needs to succeed. Roki has overcome so much in his short life, and we can’t wait to see him get the happy ending he deserves. If you’re looking for a fun, playful companion who is ready to leave his past behind and enjoy life, Roki may be your guy!

Story
Meet Lola! This very sweet and spunky girl is very skittish and distrustful with new people, but has really blossomed in her foster home. We believe she is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix and has many personality traits that we think will appeal to the Chihuahua people out there. This girl is not only beautiful, but is also housebroken, crate trained and knows several commands. She'd also be perfect for those hot summer months and cold winter months, since though she loves to be outside, she's not super fond of lengthy walks. Once she chooses her person and bonds she's silly, playful, cuddly and loyal, the perfect work from home companion who loves to sit on your lap and help with whatever you are doing. She's not a fan of other animals, children, or strangers especially men although she's been able to make friends with them if they ignore her at first and offer lots of yummy treats- intros have to be slow and on her terms. If you like quirky but lovable little dogs, please submit an application to meet her. Primary Color: Tan Age: 3yrs 0mths 1wks

Story
Lil Bit - 8 years, 11lbs, Chiweenie, Neutered - Our vet estimates him to be anywhere between 5 to 7 and possibly even 8.  Please click here to see videos of little bit.  His Foster Family Says: "Lil Bit has been the sweetest foster dog we could have asked for. From the moment we picked him up, he has been incredibly sweet, calm, trusting, and well behaved. He gets along wonderfully with our dogs and has such a kind, gentle soul. At home, Lil Bit is calm and affectionate. He loves snuggling with us on the couch and being near his people, but in a gentle, independent way that is never overly needy. He is very quiet and is happy relaxing, sleeping, or watching the world go by from our window sill, one of his favorite spots. His sweet little face and adorable snaggle tooth are just as charming as his affectionate personality! Lil Bit is also incredibly easy to care for. He is fully house trained and enjoys one longer walk each day along with a couple of shorter walks. He is not reactive on walks. He approaches the world with a wonderful sense of curiously and trust, and really enjoys meeting other dogs and people he passes on walks." Level of dog ownership experience needed:FLEXIBLE – We predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale with regard to exercise and mental stimulation requirements, but seniors tend to need a lot of help and understanding when it comes to lifestyle and veterinary issues. Seniors usually need quiet, calm environments and routines and do not do well with a lot of bustle, change, and rambunctious movement (kids and young playful dogs, for instance). This dog’s adopter will need to be prepared for senior health challenges, which means frequent vet visits and very expensive veterinary bills. (An annual senior blood panel alone costs around $500 in NYC.) Senior care can also take an emotional toll on their humans. Adopting a mature pup is a wonderful thing to do, but it can also be difficult.  Energy level:LOWER – Pretty chill indoors and won’t demand endless amounts of stimulation and exercise but still needs a few short walks a day (10-30 min each) for potty breaks and to stretch their legs TOLERANCE TO CITYAdjusting to the city – Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well in quiet areas and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue). He is sometimes startled by random loud noises but has been able to get around the city, even louder parts, fine. We do live in a more calm part of Brooklyn but he did go on the Subway for the first time yesterday and was totally fine and not scared at all.  POTTY TRAININGYes – Few or no accidents  COMFORT LEVEL WITH STRANGERSSocial butterfly – Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, loves anyone who will stop to say hello.  BEHAVIOR WITH CHILDREN (always requires adult supervision)Yes for most ages – very confident, gentle, low energy, tolerant, not mouthy  SOCIAL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER DOGSYes – Good with most other dogs (sizes, breeds, etc.) as far as we know and enjoys socializing with other canines RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER ANIMALS (cats, small pets, etc.)Yes – Seems to get along with cats etc., either tries to play with them or is mostly uninterested MOUTHY BEHAVIORPast this stage– Little to no interest in chewing on stuff or putting things in their mouth that aren’t food. Doesn’t try to chew on hands, feet, etc. during playtime SEPARATION ANXIETYAdjusting – Might cry for a few minutes when you first leave the house but settles pretty quickly and has no problem being left alone otherwise.  LEASH MANNERSOld Pro – Doesn’t pull hard or need much direction.  CUDDLE BUG LEVELMedium – Likes to snuggle when he's in the mood but often stays in his own bed  JUMPING ON PEOPLE TO SAY HELLOCalm Greetings – Doesn’t jump up on people or dogs. Always all four on the floor.  CRATE TRAININGDon't use it -  We only tried crating him once and he was whimpering a lot so we let him out. We didn't find the need to keep him in there because he has been very well behaved. Medical status:Healthy for their age as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake. Adopters will need to be ready for senior care – at a minimum, that will be annual checkups including senior bloodwork and a dental post adoption (most senior rescues need one). How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2839634##
