I’m looking for help finding a safe placement for my dog. He is 3 years old. His birthday is September 16th 2023 and he is an extremely loving and affectionate dog with people. He is great with both children/adults, loves attention and cuddling, and has never shown aggression toward people. He loves car rides, walks/dinner time. He loves to cuddle for bed. Most of the time, he also gets along with other dogs. The issue occurs around food/treats. He becomes possessive/resource-guarding in those situations, there have been incidents where he has bitten other dogs. I want to be completely upfront about this history so that he can be placed safely. Outside of situations involving food or treats, he is a loving dog and generally does well. because of the incidents, I believe the safest placement may be a home where he is the only dog or with an experienced owner who understands resource guarding and can properly fix that issue. He & my other dog have fought and Helix is getting hurt.

We adopted Oliver through the lake county animal shelter. We have had him for two years so far and he is very sweet but he doesn't like cats too much. We have decided to try and find him a better home seeing as we have had 5 cats for a while and he doesn't like them and he never even tried to accept the cats. He also recently has been growing at our kids and I think he's not a dog for kids but a Adult only owner. The reason cost is a problem is we have alot on our plate and we are finding it hard to keep up with food for oliver. We need him in a space where he can get lots of exercise.
