Story
We have more dogs being turned into rescue. We will keep our site update as they come in, are vetted and determined ready to be adopted. If you have never had a Pyr Puppy you need to read this : http://www.nepyresq.org/page/i-want-a-great-pyrenees-puppy-50.html The application process is to go to our website and fill out an adoption application form. http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-process-47.html We do not accept INVISIBLE fencing for the following reasons: 1) Most Pyrs ignore the pain and go through it. 2) This is a guardian breed and this fencing does not keep people or other animals out of your yard. The Pyr could take them as a threat or be attacked. WE do not allow them to be tied out. It makes them aggressive. If you do not have a fenced yard then a fenced area would be acceptable. Most of these dogs are not a dog park breed. They bark a lot and can bother your neighbors.

Story
Buddy DOB 4/25/21 Buddy is a handsome 2 1/2 year old neutered male Great Pyrenees. He enjoys playing with female dogs but may not get along with all male dogs. He needs a well secured yard because he loves to spend lots of time outside. He has been trained to do some fun agility obstacles and actually plays fetch with his ball! He has been with cats. He is being trained to walk on a leash without pulling. He is a minimal barker. He loves to watch the sky. Buddy is deaf but this does not hamper his intelligence. He is smart, knows some hand signals and body expression and will quickly learn more. However due to deafness he will always need to be on a leash outside his yard. He was born deaf. Buddy loves pats and adores his people. He is a delightful companion. He does not counter surf and is respectful while you eat. A perfect home would have a high secured fenced yard and another female dog partner to play with. His person is someone who is willing to relish life with a deaf dog and learn/explore new and deeper ways to communicate. So many dogs learn our language. This is an opportunity to communicate in another way and share a deeply unique bond. Please go to our website if you are interested in one of our dogs. It explains the process and has an application you can fill out there. http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-process-guidelines-48.html

Story
This is a COURTESY posting only to help TONY find a home. You will need to contact the organization who has him. Please contact OLD LYME ANIMAL CONTROL at animalcontrol@oldlyme-ct.gov for an adoption application or additional information. This dog is located in Connecticut. Northeast Pyr Rescue is not responsible for this dog. We only courtesy post dogs who are in the states we cover in the Northeastern US. Post: Exciting news! We are now taking applications for our near and dear Tony! As many of you are aware , Tony is the Great Pyrenees found abandoned at the end of Lords Meadow. Over the last 2 months we have learned so much about him and his dreaded past. He hasn’t ever been placed with the proper owner, has been continuously re-homed or dumped. So now here we are looking for his forever. He is a livestock guardian dog (LSGD) whose breed is to guard/protects. Tony hasn’t ever been a working farm LSGD but still guards. He grew up with children and learned to guard the children. We enlisted a local trainer thru All Bright Canines to help with proper correction in hopes of curbing his guarding behavior. He has been attending weekly one on one training at both their facility and the shelter. The trainer will also be giving his new family some guidance. He is a 100% Great Pyrenees so guarding isn’t uncommon for his breed. Fact is, once Tony knows you….he will love you. More about the Tony we know today! He is an amazing, smart and loyal dog who loves his people. This big guy weighs in at 93 lbs, is 5 years old, neutered and up to date on shots. Tony is playful with toys, loves to go for car rides, take a walk and is guilty of loving people food. He has proven to be a big, laid back mush ball who just wants to lay and hang around people he is familiar with. He is completely housebroken and walks well on a leash. Tony has also proven to be shy of new people, it takes him sometime to warm up. Could be 10 min, could be multiple visits, men do take more time. With time, positive reinforcement and cheese (loves cheese) he comes around on his terms. He has many people that we have properly introduced him to and come to visit him weekly at the shelter. We can’t thank them enough for giving Tony the love he deserves! Oh and Tony favorite part….treats. Tony has made it his job to sniff thru all the donations and have first dibs. Tony’s ideal forever family would require previous experience with LSGD or extensive dog experience, take him on car rides, give him lots of butt rubs and be the center of his people’s universe. He needs a quiet home and does best with a routine, structure and someone with leadership to uphold the rules for him. He is like a child, give him a foot he takes a mile. Due to his size and guarding we feel it’s best to place Tony with no children, dogs or cats and fenced in yard to safely romp around in. He will also require multiple meet and greets to become comfortable with his new family. Please understand we are being very transparent and doing our best to ensure Tony is placed in the proper future home. To submit an application please click the link below or email us at animalcontrol@oldlyme-ct.gov and we will email you one.

Story
Juniper (aka Juni) is a beautiful, energetic young female about 3-4 years old. She was a stray that was not claimed. We can't imagine why. She loves to play with toys and other dogs and is especially fond of kids. This girl is definitely a socialite and would love an active home with siblings, both human and animal alike. She is a bit of a digger and escape artist so she will need a VERY secure fenced yard. A run will not work with Juniper as she needs the freedom to play and run to get out her wiggles. Juniper is spayed, in great health, and has had all of her shots. Once she’s in your home, you’ll want her love forever! She is in a foster home in West Springfield, Mass. She is microchipped. Please go to our website if you are interested in one of our dogs. It explains the process and has an application you can fill out there. . If it goes through you will get an email from nepyresq@gmail.com with the next steps of the process. http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-process-guidelines-48.html
