Story
Meet Josie- a gentle soul ready for her forever home. After surviving a tough past—living outdoors with 13 dogs and losing her home to a fire—she’s now healthy, happy, and craving stability. Josie is a 9-year-old Rottweiler mix who weighs 70 lbs and ready for a calm, loving retirement home. Josie is loyal and affectionate, especially with women—she’s attached to her foster mom like Velcro! She prefers a quiet home without small pets or young kids. With proper introductions, she does well with medium to large dogs. The ideal home would be a low-key, non-active household where Josie can relax and feel safe. She enjoys short, slow walks and peaceful days. After months in foster care, she’s even starting to play with toys! Josie has excellent house manners and never jumps on people. She was heartworm positive when we rescued her, but at her age, the traditional treatment would be too tough on her as they are painful and distressing for the poor dog. SOS has chosen to do the slow kill method with her and we will provide a LIFETIME of medication for her. This might scare some people off but this sweet girl has been through so much and she’s ready for a peaceful, loving home. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who will stick by your side like Velcro, Josie is your girl! She is spayed, housebroken and crate trained. Her adoption fee is $50 fully vetted, and we will provide a lifetime of heartworm medication for her to continue to keep the disease at bay. Save Ohio Strays does not have a shelter. Our dogs are integrated into their foster homes who can tell you all about them to make the transition into your home informative and supportive. Our first step to adopt is always our online application at saveohiostrays.org. Save Ohio Strays does NOT claim or guarantee any breeds given in this description. These are best guess descriptions for breed. SOS NEVER ships pets and will not adopt out to a driving radius greater than 3 hours from Medina, Ohio.

Retriever (Unknown Type)

Sharon Center, OH
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Midnight was part of a Humane Society seizure where she and about 10 other dogs were kept on a porch 24/7. They were not cleaned up after or fed regularly. She did not have any human interaction for the first two years of her life. Despite this awful beginning, Midnight is a very sweet girl and is progressing nicely in foster! Midnight is timid, and still working on social skills and becoming familiar with life! She needs a home that will be patient with her and continue encouraging her to trust people. She loves to play and can entertain herself for long periods. We think Midnight would thrive in a quiet home with another canine companion to show her the ropes and build her confidence! A home where people are home often, or work from home with older, respectful children would ideal! Fill out an application at www.maggiesmissionrescue.org

Story
Arya is a sweetie pie with the most beautiful brown eyes. She loves belly rubs, baths, playing chase with her foster sister and car rides. She barks to alert when someone is near the house and will whine a little bit when going in her crate at first, but will settle with her peanut butter Kong. She has done really well with potty training, has no food aggression and shares toys. We feel she will need a good intro to other dogs in the home and might actually like to be the only dog so she can bond with her person! She has not been cat tested. Blue is a loving guy who wants to be with his people. He was born with some deformity in one of his front legs, but don't let that fool you, it doesn't hinder the majority of his activities! He is an energetic guy who likes to play and would love a fenced in yard where he can chase a ball or just relax and a family he can curl up on the couch with when he's done playing.
