Story
She is a beautiful Senior girl ready for her forever home. Shelby is an 11 yo 6 mo. old mix – German Sheppard/Lab/Chow/Super Mutt through DNA. Her body structure is similar to a chow, very compact and not really big. Shelby is 65 lbs. and is a perfect weight. She was regularly seen by the vet and had a wellness check on October 3. She walks well on the leash and is not reactive to dogs she meets—excellent leash behavior when meeting dogs and people on their walks. She is supposed to be good with cats, but we have not tested her. She loves to give kisses even when you are grooming. Shelby is not a fan of the vet and recommended she be muzzled by her previous owner, but she is just nervous and does well with an experienced and patient vet. She was wary and very nervous but did not growl or try and bite the vet. She has adjusted to her foster home in San Jose with three dogs and young grandkids.

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, April 6th at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-3pm, unless he/she is set up and adopted prior to the event. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $300  Rutabaga is a 7 year old Miniature Pinscher mix who was surrendered to us when her family was moving and was no longer able to take care of her. Rutabaga is the kind of dog that takes a bit of time to warm up to you but then she is your one and only forever. If you are looking for an older (golden) gal who still has a TON of love to show the world, Rutabaga is your girl.  Below is a note from Rutabaga's foster. 'Rutabaga is the kind of dog that takes a few days to come out of her shell but once she has, she is the biggest snuggler and cuddler I have ever met. She follows me absolutely everywhere (but she isn't clingy). When I have to work she is happy to sit on her bed and play with a toy, but her ideal spot is sitting on my lap and having me pet her for hours. The funniest thing we discovered is that she is more likely to want attention when we are giving it to someone else, then she is like 'me me me!' Rutabaga wakes up around 7 AM and heads out for a 15 minute potty walk. She has breakfast and then spends some of her morning lounging around while I get some work done. She gets another walk in the middle of the day before another nap. She gets a long walk in the evening before having dinner and settling down for the evening. Rutabaga has gotten along well with big and small dogs alike. I don't think she thinks she is as small as she is, because she has that fearless big dog energy that only small dogs seem to emulate. Rutabaga likes a walk but she is totally a couch potato dog when we let her hang out on the couch.  My favorite thing about Rutabaga is when she wants attention she will stand on her back two legs to try and show off, but then she loses her balance and sometimes ends up toppling over onto a soft bed nearby.'   Rutabaga is only an option for those who have owned a dog in the past 5 years, with emphasis placed on those applications who have experience with shy dogs. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10 and on the quieter side, as she is a smaller gal who needs a bit of time to warm up to new people and loud kids could freak her out. May 5, 2024, 4:44 pm

Story
Meet Azul! MO4PAWS is networking Azul for a family that can no longer keep him due to their living situation and son moving out of the country. He’s a very good and loving dog, all he wants is attention and love. He loves to go out and has the typical husky energy. He is currently an outdoor dog with the family he resides at. As would any dog, with some training and guidance he will be a wonderful dog for someone! When it comes to kids, he isn't aggressive with other people and has never bit anyone, he just can be a little jumpy as a result of his energy. We want to find a family that will just love him and take him in as part of their own!
