Story
Update Ruger is now at the Santa Cruz Animal Shelter. Ruger is 7 years old, ~100lbs neutered Rottweiler-mix. He is a sweet, mature dog who is doing extremely well with the foster home's younger dog and is remarkably tolerant of his puppy energy. He has been living as a companion dog and is accustomed to having a person of his own.Ruger does chase cats. He has not injured one, but because of his size and interest in chasing them, he needs a cat-free home. His current foster has three cats, so she cannot safely keep him long-term. Ruger is neutered. Vaccination and veterinary records are being located/confirmed. His foster can provide additional information about his temperament and behavior as she gets to know him.Ruger came into foster care through no fault of his own. His owner was unexpectedly hospitalized and subsequently moved into assisted living and is no longer able to care for him.

Story
ADOPTION PENDING!  Handsom T is an absolute sweetheart who is easy going and social. This friendly 8 year old male adores people and loves to smooch! He's interested, but courteous, around other dogs and should integrate well into a household with one or more large dogs.   His high energy and good mobility would make him a great hiking buddy. Since he's a big athletic guy, a strong handler is recommended for leash walks. Like many GSDs, Handsom loves food more than toys, and is an eager eater. He can be a bit grabby when taking treats, but is responding well to the ‘Gently’ command. He would be equally happy as the one and only with a single adopter or as part of a family with older respectful kids.  ##2638406##

Story
Sunshine T lives up to her name with her golden color and sunny personality. This 8 year old GSD mix is on the small side, weighing in at around 45 lbs. This makes her the perfect size for a smaller home or for apartment life.  Sunny will bond quickly and strongly with her human. She has co-existed with other dogs, but she much prefers to have her person all to herself. Her ideal home is one where she is the only pet and can be the center of attention.   This pint-sized incredibly lovable dog would be a terrific companion for anyone looking for a smaller senior.  Did we mention that she likes car rides and is a great travel buddy?  Let us know if you'd like to take her home with you.   ##2774704##

Story
Meet Callie T. a German Shepherd girl weighing about 90 lbs. who is roughly 10 years old. With her big size comes a big heart, which can be easily stolen. She is a very gentle soul, and is good with all dogs and older kids (mostly simply because of her size).  Callie T. is house-trained and displays medium energy.  Typical of most of the German Shepherd Dogs she gets VERY excited about car rides (to the point that she needs some Trazodone to take the edge off her excitement). She knows and obeys basic commands such as sit and come. She is a very social, affectionate, friendly dog, that meets people in a heart-felt way especially if they have Charlee Bear treats handy.  Her knees are VERY swollen and can be painful on walks, but she is very stoic about the pain she is experiencing.  She prefers short walks with frequent rest stops. Could this be the dog for you? ##2701555##
