Meet this beautiful 4-year-old black German Shepherd with a loyal heart and an incredible spirit. He has been part of our family since he was a puppy, growing into a confident, intelligent, and deeply protective companion. He’s playful and energetic, always ready for a walk, a game, or simply to be near the people he loves. At the same time, he is watchful and devoted, the kind of dog who makes you feel safe just by being there. Due to an unexpected relocation, we are heartbroken to say we can no longer give him the life he deserves. Our greatest hope is to find him a loving, experienced home where he can thrive—one that understands the loyalty, energy, and affection that come with a German Shepherd. He would do best with someone who can give him time, space to move, and plenty of love. In return, he will offer unwavering devotion and companionship.

Story

Dolly is about 18 months old and was adopted from the Humane Society of Silicon Valley. She is a 55-pound mixed breed (about a quarter German Shepherd and a quarter Pit Bull). I have had her for almost a year but have to relocate for work and can no longer provide the time and space she needs. She loves to run after her frisbee or any stick and is a great hiking companion. Dolly's a big cuddler and loves to lean into a belly rub whenever the opportunity arises. She is nervous when meeting new people and dogs but warms up quickly. She does not have experience interacting with cats or kids. Dolly would do best in a home that can continue her training (currently working with Petra K9 in San Jose) to help ease her anxiety around new settings. She has basic training including crate training and responds well to a structured schedule.

Story

Houdini is a cuddly and silly boy. He needs a lot of mental stimulation and would love lick-mats, definitely needs a yard to run in, and needs a committed owner to continue his training. He has been in a board-and-train with a reputable trainer for 7 weeks, and has made tremendous progress. We are rehoming because he is scared of one of our household members (a tall, loud, man) and he has not been able to break from that. He may benefit from a female only household. Houdini is a goofy guy who loves to cuddle, is fine being picked up, and talks sometimes! He's got husky in him, we can provide his DNA test results if desired. He can be vocally reactive to stimuli such as new people or dogs on walks. He needs stability and an experienced adopter willing to learn his training requirements and carry them out. He knows sit, down, place, leave it, responds to leash pressure and e-collar stimuli, and all around just really needs someone who will love him forever.
