Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereMeet Paloma, the one-of-a-kind pup who is sure to steal your heart with her stunning blue eyes and unique combination of 5 different breeds (Australian Cattle Dog, GSG and Husky to name the main ones), as shown in her DNA test results. Don't let her being deaf fool you, this girl is full of confidence and is a quick learner. She loves going for car rides and gets excited as soon as she sees her harness. Paloma is a social butterfly who adores meeting new people and soaking up all the love and attention. Paloma is already a pro at crate training and potty training and is a bundle of joy with a tail that never stops wagging. She is currently mastering leash skills and enjoys going on pack walks in the neighborhood, where she can show off her playful side. Paloma is a pack animal and even though she's surrounded by four giant Northern breeds that are over 80 pounds, she is adapting well and learning how to communicate with them. Paloma is in search of a forever home with at least one other playful dog, where she can continue to grow and thrive. She will do best in a quieter area, as busy places can be overwhelming for her. As a high-energy, intelligent working breed mix, Paloma requires regular exercise and mental stimulation. She is 2 years old and weighs 40 pounds. If you're looking for a special companion that will bring love and excitement to your life, Paloma is the one for you! Click HERE to learn how to adopt Paloma! I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereJenga is a wonderfully wild and bouncy pup. He's a combination of both shy and playful, and is a loving puppy ready to find his family. Like all puppies will, he's in a stage of "mouthiness" and needs appropriate things to chew on (like toys!) and reminders of what not to chew (like shoes or toes!). No cats, bunnies or rodents for Jenga - he has significant prey drive. Jenga will thrive with an active family. He is patient and calm during car rides, great on leash, and responds very well when called. Catch up on his foster adventures on Instagram @dogisbond (he had a blast at the beach)! If you can nurture this super happy pup with positive reinforcement training and plenty of adventures, submit an application to meet him! Click HERE to learn how to adopt. Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more here*****My adoption fee has been sponsored by a secret admirer***** Meet Sammy, the sweet and gentle soul who will capture your heart with just one wag of her tail. This endearing girl loves to spend her mornings exploring her foster home's backyard, taking in all the sights and scents, and keeping watch for any squirrels that dare to cross her path. But when she's done adventuring for the day, she loves nothing more than cuddling up with her human family, basking in the warmth of their love and affection. With her soft, velvety fur and affectionate gaze, Sammy is the epitome of comfort and security. Whether she's snuggled up at your side or burrowed behind you on the couch, she'll make you feel loved and appreciated every moment of the day. She's also an obedient pup, already knowing some basic cues like "sit," "down," and "paw." Despite her gentle nature, Sammy is a go-getter who loves to see new places and meet new people. Whether she's joining her foster family on a road trip to Southern California or simply visiting a loved one's home, she's always up for a new adventure. But even with all the excitement, she remains a true homebody at heart, content to be by your side and not alone for too long. With her mix of playfulness, curiosity, and love, Sammy will make a great addition to any family who wants a chill, not-too-active pup. And although she may not be interested in playing with other dogs, she's perfectly content as your solo pet, showering you with love and devotion every day. So, are you ready to let this sweet and loving girl steal your heart? Sammy is 11 years young and weighs 45 pounds. Email adoptsammi@gmail.com if you have questions for her foster. Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereKirby is checking off the good dog boxes! He is still a shy boy who’s going to need time to get to know you before you get all of those sweet Kirby snuggles, but we think it’s okay for some of our dogs to be more selective about their friends. Adorable face? &#226&#156&#133 Party Ear? &#226&#156&#133 House trained? &#226&#156&#133 Good with some Cats?? &#226&#156&#133 Kirby has been in a few different foster homes with different cats, and he's gotten along with some of them--with others, he's been a bit of a brat. If you have a confident cat who will stand up to him, and are willing to do a slow, careful introduction, they might get along fine! Foster mom reports: “During the day he would cuddle up and nap next to me while I was working. He was easygoing with my cats and was an easy work-from-home companion. One evening we had 5 adults (men and women) over to our house. They arrived in two groups. Since he's a bit anxious about new people, I gave everyone the instructions not to look at him when they arrived. Both times, he barked when they knocked on the door, but then within a minute was ok with them. He didn’t bark at all while people were here and was very social and friendly. Everyone was petting him and he slept on his bed by us most of the evening. He made a very good impression on our guests!” As one of his former fosters wrote: “My favorite Kirby activity, second to snuggling, was watching him play catch with himself. He would bounce his favorite ball for himself, off the floor and straight into his mouth. His joy is contagious!” Want to get in on that joy, but not totally sure about adoption? Kirby has been selected for our pilot foster-to-adopt program. You can keep Kirby out of the shelter, and see if he might be the right fit for you! A smaller guy at 30 pounds, Kirby is only about 2 years old, and he needs to be the only dog in the home. Want to know more about Kirby? Just email us at adoption@oaklandsanimals.org and we’ll be happy to fill you in! Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereHey there, lovely people! I'm Aunti Bella, and I'm here to share my story with you. I may be a senior gal, but let me assure you, I've got plenty of sass and sweetness to offer! Just take a look at my cute little overbite and my adorable pink booper. People can't resist telling me how adorable I am! And you know what? I absolutely thrive on attention. Spending time with humans is my absolute favorite thing. I soak up all the pets and cuddles, and don't even get me started on those tasty treats. Yum! When it comes to furry friends, I have my preferences. I get along great with easygoing dogs, as long as they understand that I'm the boss of the play yard. After all, I've got a reputation to uphold! As for my age, well, I'm a mature lady of around 10 years old, and I weigh a little over 45 pounds. Perfect for cozy snuggles! Oh, did I mention my impeccable manners? I walk like a pro on a leash, and I always make sure to behave myself. Well, almost always. Sometimes, when I see other dogs, I might get a little chatty, but who can blame me? A few tasty treats can easily redirect my attention. And speaking of treats, I'm a foodie through and through. If there's one thing that motivates me, it's the promise of delicious goodies. But you know where you can find me when I'm not out on walks? My favorite spot on the couch! I could spend hours there, snoozing away and dreaming sweet dreams. Ah, bliss! Now, let me give you a few details about myself: I'm house and crate trained, though I must admit, I'm a bit of a couch potato at heart. I can handle being alone for 4-5 hours without any issues. I'm a pretty independent gal. I absolutely adore people, and I get along great with kids, even the little ones who are full of energy. They bring so much joy! Daily walks and hikes are my jam. I'm always up for some outdoor adventures and exploring new places. I must confess, I can get a little excited on the leash when I see other dogs or cats. I do get along with other respectful dogs! In fact, I recently had a fantastic time in a playgroup at OAS. So here I am, a true treasure in search of my forever home. I deserve a warm and loving place where I can shine and be cherished. If you're ready to open your heart and offer me the love and care I deserve, don't wait another moment. Let's create beautiful memories together. Click HERE to learn how to adopt Aunti Bella! You can follow Aunti Bella in foster @auntibella! Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereHello from Milo! Milo is a gentle and loving soul who just needs a little patience and TLC to blossom into his best self. This sweet boy may have had a rough start in life, but he has made tremendous strides in improving his social abilities in his foster home. He was once fearful and nervous around new situations and people. Now, he eagerly welcomes guests to his home, wagging his tail in excitement for some tasty treats. He's even conquered his fear of passing strangers on the leash! (He still may have some stranger danger but getting better every day.) Fosters have reported that Milo is a playful and healthy pup who loves nothing more than being outside, playing, and exploring with his furry foster doggie siblings. He's full of affection and adores being petted, and his favorite place to cuddle up is right next to his beloved humans on the bed. His foster family calls him "Sunny Boy"! Milo is a good sleeper, sleeping soundly through the night, too. We're looking for a very special and patient home for this handsome guy. Milo will thrive in a calm and quiet household and environment, which routine and consistency. So that he can continue to feel safe. He would benefit from positive-reinforcement training. And we know in time, he will learn to be a confident dog! While Milo's past makes it hard to predict how he'll react around children or cats, one thing is for sure: this dog is full of love and loyalty, waiting for the perfect family to give him the love and care he deserves. With his good nature and willingness to learn, Milo is ready to be a faithful companion for life. Could you be the one to give him the loving home he's been waiting for? Milo is about 2 years old and weighs 45 lbs. He would prefer a quiet and adult-only home at this time.
