Story
You are very likely to encounter Percy, a youthful terrier-spaniel mix in luscious black fur, on his back with his paws up, batting his eyelashes and hoping for a tum rub. And believe us, you will give him a tum rub. This little guy is a love magnet with charisma to spare, along with lots of pep and no shame when it comes to courting pets, scritches and snoogs. He’s also a fan of dogs. (His opinion of cats remains a mystery.) Adopt him for sporty romps, outings, and adventures punctuated by love fests and general goofiness. Here's some notes from his foster: Percy has definitely settled in quite well and quickly! We have gotten into a great routine of walks and goes potty outside which is great :) He is sooo loving and cuddly and basically wants attention all the time ahah! But also seems to be okay doing his own thing as long as there is someone in his vicinity. I think he would do best in a home with at least one person who is home. He has been fine on walks for the most part, he does react sometimes to dogs (i've noticed especially with bigger dogs), but i think this is a common trait for most small dogs . He has SO much energy so would definitely enjoy longer walks, parks, play time outside, etc!! He also seemed fine going down stairs. He's a bundle of energy , who loves walks , playing with toys ! He’s been great at his meals. We are trying to do some alone time training , but this is also def something that his future adopters will need to patiently work on with him!

Hola, amigos! Allow us to introduce you to Pepe y Pita, the cutest, chonkiest, and most charming senior dog duo you’ll ever meet! These two might be a bit shy at first, but once they warm up, they’ll shower you with love, belly rubs, and laughter. Pepe, 12 years old and 19 lbs, is a laid-back Chihuahua with a long, chonky body and a relaxed attitude. Though reserved at first, once he feels comfortable, he’s all about attention, pets, and chin scratches. He’s a leash pro, enjoying slow strolls in the sun with his adventurous sidekick, Pita. Pita, 9 years old and 14 lbs, is the life of the party, with a smile that lights up any room and ears that can’t be missed. Her playful and fiery spirit brings out the best in Pepe, encouraging him to have fun and make new friends. Together, they’re a heartwarming duo full of love, laughs, and sweet moments. Whether snuggling or basking in attention, Pepe and Pita are the perfect pair to welcome into your home. Ready to be charmed by their wiggly walks, adorable smiles, and endless love? The adventure with Pepe and Pita is just beginning! Vamos! Here's some notes from their foster: Pita and Pepe are a really smiley pair of pups! They adore pets, cuddles, belly scritches, treats, and each other. Pita is immediately affectionate, filled with doggie kisses, and is a fabulous lap dog. Her favorite thing is laying in my lap on her back and having her belly scratched. “Peppy Pepe” is affectionate, too, and has a huge personality. He loves big stretches, does an enviable upward dog yoga pose, and is prone to zoomies. Both doggies share the sweet habit of wrapping their legs around my arm so that I keep petting them. They are friendly meeting people, good with small children, and have been fine (maybe a bit indifferent) with our three cats. They sometimes bark hello to new dogs on walks, but settle and have been friendly and polite meeting new dogs when off leash at Muttville Headquarters and events. They are great nappers and relaxed work from home companions. Pita and Pepe show no signs whatsoever of separation anxiety if left home alone, at least provided that they are together. Pita and Pepe enjoy car rides, short to medium length walks, and being outdoors as much as possible to sniff all the wonderful smells. They are well matched in size and pace and easy to walk together. They have not shown much interest in toys, but get hours of enjoyment out of jerky covered bones. They present as being in overall good health and are not on any medications at this time. They can both do stairs including a steep flight of wooden stairs in our house, and use a ramp to get on and off my higher than average bed. As an added bonus they are both reliably potty trained and also pee pad trained, which Pepe will sometimes avail himself to overnight. It’s been really fabulous hosting Pita and Pepe. They are extremely easy to care for. I believe they will do well in a relaxed home with or without furry friends. They are such a fun, amazing and adorable pair!

This dapper pup has the handsome looks to steal your heart, and the personality to seal the deal! Polo is a confident puppy with a tail that never stops thumping. Toys, treats, and people time are his love languages, and he`s got endless love to give! Polo is now a big pup but still has a lot of growing ahead of him, so he`ll need plenty of positive reinforcement-based training and guidance to help him blossom into a well-adjusted dog. Could he be your wingman? POLO A540470

Story
If you happen to visit Muttville and catch a powder puff or snowball out of the corner of your eye, you might have been lucky enough to view Muttville's latest super-soft senior, Aliki! This gentle and sweet 13-year-old poodle has a robust resume of going to senior centers and greeting, or let's be honest, delighting the elderly folks lucky enough to get a visit. Aliki is also very polite with other mutts, but we'd assume such a cuddly little ball of fluff would be popular with other mutts looking for a snuggle buddy. Aliki is a superstar of sitting on the couch and a champion of snuggles, so if you are looking for a pup that will bring lots of cuddles and serenity to your come, Aliki is the mutt for you! Here's some notes from her foster: Meet Aliki- Your Personal Zen Master! Looking for a little calm in the chaos? Aliki is like a warm cup of tea, a soft cozy blanket, and your favorite therapist all rolled into one irresistibly fluffy, gentle soul. This 13-year-young sweetheart has a calming presence that instantly puts you at ease, just one snuggle with her, and you’ll feel the stress melt away. Aliki is the ultimate cuddlebug. Her happy place is curled up in your lap, quietly reminding you that everything’s going to be okay. She’s incredibly sweet, mellow, and loves everyone she meets. I brought her to work and she charmed all my clients, soaking up pets, compliments, and attention like a pro. Don’t let her age fool you! Aliki handles stairs with grace and can hop up onto the couch or bed for snuggle time with ease. On walks, she’s got the cutest little pep in her step, sometimes even a dainty prance, but overall, she’s a low-key homebody who lives for cozy moments and slow-paced days. She gets along beautifully with my resident dog, mostly just doing her own thing (which he appreciates!). Potty-wise, she’s great with #2 outside and we're working on syncing her schedule for #1- when she goes out right after waking up, she’s golden. Aliki would thrive in a peaceful, quiet home with someone who appreciates the joy of stillness and soft companionship. She does startle a bit with loud noises, so a calm environment that mirrors her gentle energy is the perfect match. Ready to add a little zen to your life? Aliki’s waiting with open paws and a heart full of love.

Story
Meet Van Howlin, the legendary rockstar of the dog park! With a name that howls back to the golden days of Van Halen, this senior pup brings classic charm and a mellow groove. He may take a minute to warm up (like any true artist before a performance), but once he’s in the zone, he’s all about good vibes, tail wags, and furry friendships. When he’s not out on a stroll working on his next big hit, you can catch him sunbathing like the rock royalty he is… fluff in the wind, soaking up the spotlight (or just the sunshine). Whether he's howlin' at the moon or just chilling in the grass, Van’s got that timeless cool. Here's some notes from his foster: Van H came home with us Friday afternoon and did okay in the car ride from Muttville to Alameda. He was in a crate, which was probably best for both him and the driver. He did pant the entire car ride, but didn’t bark/whine or try to get out of the crate. When it comes to napping/sleeping, it seems like Van H prefers a doggie mat and/or blanket over a dog bed. And seems most comfortable when he’s able to stretch out. Friday night we discovered that he liked to be hidden away a bit and had found a comfy/safe spot in our bedroom closet. So, we set him up with a doggie mat and blanket and that’s where he slept. And Van H is a great sleeper! Both nights he slept about 12 hours. We think Van H is potty trained, but his “tell” isn’t always clear, so best to simply take him out a few times a day until his routine is known. And he isn’t a marker either, which is good. Van H does appear to have some vision challenges…specifically around depth perception. He had a few stumbles in the house (e.g., walking into the water bowl), and then took a small tumble when going down the three stairs off our deck. So, he would be best in a home without stairs. And if he has access to a deck/porch, it should have railings/bumpers, so he doesn’t walk off the edge. And Van H may do best when he doesn’t have access to the entire house. We have a small house, so it wasn’t a big issue, but keeping him in areas that he’s familiar with and have mapped out, may work best for him. That said, if he gets “stuck”, he’ll bark to call for some assistance from his humane. He was mildly interested in our pack (Asher and Ebi). Now and then he would trot after one of them. He mostly just did his own thing. He may enjoy the company of another pup that goes at his speed, but certainly doesn’t need to be a solo dog. He does like to follow a human around, which is sweet. And he likes to be petted as long as he’s not surprised by the touch. He let us pick him up to take him outside for his potty breaks and would give us licks whenever we offered our hand. Van Howlin’ would probably do best in a home where his human would be around frequently, and the household is calm.
