Luna wants to thank Kathryn Rothberg for sponsoring her. Thank you Kathryn ! Also big thank you to Victoria Taylor and Thomas Pfaeffle for sponsoring this wonderful girl. Sponsor Luna by clicking here. Your name will appear on this page as Luna's sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Luna thanks you! Hi, I'm Luna!  I’m an approximately 7 year-old female with a super soft light sable coat. I'm a gentle girl with a very expressive face and the cutest head tilt. I'm also quite cuddly and love to give kisses and snuggles. Everyone who meets me says I'm a very sweet girl.   My DNA says I am mostly a white shepherd, a german shepherd and a bit of shiloh shepherd. I have great house manners and am fully crate trained but really don't need a crate. I can be left alone in the house and won't even think of destroying your stuff. I also sleep quietly through the night. I like my rope tugs, balls, chewy toys and anything that squeaks! So if you ever need to work on something or just need your own quiet time, just give me a fun toy and I’ll go off and entertain myself. And honestly, I really don’t mind sleeping in a little some days if you want to however I would like a family that likes to play ball, walk, and go for rides. I am an active girl and have to keep my fabulous shape.    I have gotten along with calm, respectful dogs that don't get upset when I get a little pesky. I've done several pack walks and have handled myself like a lady. I have a head halter during walks as it gently reminds me to pay attention but I have also gone without it.  I may do best as the only dog in the home because I really want my own person.  I have lived with other dogs before that understand my style. I LOVE going for rides in the car! My foster family takes me out to quite a few different places. So far, I love the quietness of the country and woods are my favorites - Sooo many good smells. I absolutely love using my nose.  I am NOT aggressive, just protective if I need to be. (I really like people).  I already have really good basic commands down, I am highly treat/ball mortivated and have excellent focus. I'm very bright, if I do say so myself, and need to be challenged with daily training, ball play, and FUN. I'm really looking forward to learning more and showing you just how great I am.   Older kids would be fine but I have not been around really small kids and they may just be too much for me. Oh, to keep my beautiful coat nice and soft, I don't mind my baths and brushing. Really, any attention is good attention and I love to be brushed. I would also make a great gardening companion and I love to jusst be by your side.  So, if you’re looking for a fun, sweet, active girl who is also beautiful, affectionate and smart, I may just be your perfect match.  If you’d like to meet me, I’ll be waiting in Newcastle. Sponsor Finn by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Finn’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Finn thanks you! Hi.I’m Finn!  I’m a 3 year old German Shepherd/Husky mix (mostly shepherd with just a touch of husky) and weigh about 65 pounds. I’m a pretty active guy and ready for adventures.  I love to meet new people and new dogs and I’ve learned how to sit politely during introductions. I still need a reminder once in a while not to jump up on new people but I just get so excited and happy it's hard to remember my manners. I want to play with every dog I see!  Some more mature dogs think my greeting can be a little over the top, but playful young dogs think I’m great. I love walks and like to sniff everything.  I’m working hard on my leash manners and feel I am a pro at heeling and mastered sit, down, stay, shake and off.  Sometimes I still pull when a new person walks by, especially if they have a dog because I know that they want to meet me! I have some very minor trust issues (GSD trait) that we need to work on and may not bond with you as quickly as you might hope, but once I figure out that you are only going to be nice to me, we are golden and on our way to being best buddies.  Even though I love other dogs, I’m still learning how to share.  I kind of like to have all of the toys to myself and can get grumpy if another dog tries to take them. However, if it’s a tug-of-war rope then GAME ON.  I’ll play tug all day long!  I love to play in water, too! But in reality I like to play more with my resident sibling and dogs, more than with my own toys. I love dogs. I would do best with an experienced adopter with no young children.  I’d like to have lots of training because I’m a smart boy and I need to keep my brain fine-tuned. I have been to a German Shepherd meetup several times and stayed at the kennel a few times and I’ve done great at both! Like I said, I'm a friendly boy just waiting for that perfect family that understands who I am about. Oh, and one of the games my foster parents play with me is I sit very well and patiently wait for my food. I will wait until I am released to eat. I'm a good boi ! Please come meet me if you like the sound of me. I'll be waiting with my foster family in Mountain View. You like this dog...now what? Story
Meet HIROMI HIROMI was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. She is approx 4 yrs old and weighs 57 lbs. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! If you are interested in adopting, please complete our adoption application found on our website here: https://www.namasteakitarescue.com/how-do-i-adopt There you will find helpful information about the adoption process, FAQ's, etc **PLEASE NOTE, we must first approve an application before a meeting can be arranged between a prospective adopter and our dogs. Story
What kind of person drops off their beloved family member at a boarding facility, says they’ll be back in two days and is never seen or heard from again? After multiple attempts, the staff finally reached the owners. Their response was they were not coming back for him. Imagine you are Ponyo, waiting day after day, and one day becomes two, then two days becomes a week and then a month. At what point do dogs give up hope? Akitas are known for their fierce loyalty and devotion. Sadly, in this instance his loyalty was rewarded with betrayal. Thankfully, Ponyo is resilient and his joy of freedom overshadowed his despair. He’s 4yrs old and is a happy, fun-loving boy. He is best as an only dog and requires an experienced Akita owner. Ponyo is settling in and is getting plenty of attention, interaction and enrichment. You can sponsor Bella by clicking here. Your name will appear right here and 100% of your donation will help pay for food, treats and toys. Bella thanks you! Hi! I’m Bella! I’m a 4 year old sweet, friendly girl and weigh about 76 pounds. I'm affectionate with and loyal to my humans.  My recent past is quite sad as my dad passed away suddenly and I wasn't sure what would happen to me. Fortunately my dad’s nurse promised him he would find me a new loving home and contacted BAGSR for some help. I am with a great foster family now and settling in while I look for the perfect place to land. A little about me - I have great house manners and don't bother stuff that doesn't belong to me. There may times I'm a little cautious of new people coming into the house but I'm pretty good with dog savvy people. With proper introductions, I get along with other dogs big and small. However, I do like to be in charge of squirrel patrol..I used to live with a cat so if you have a cat we might get along great! Since I have bounced around a bit since my dad died, I have been barky when I'm out for a walk on leash. With a patient adopter, consistency, and some training I will likley settle in and learn to not react to other dogs or small animals when I'm out and about. I lived with a yorkie and we were best buds. I know some basic commands and would love to learn more. Group training would really benefit me as I settle into my new home with my new family. To wrap it up, I'm a pretty sensitive, sweet girl dog. I'll need a dog savvy adopter who will make me feel safe and secure. I’ll be waiting with my foster family in San Jose. If you like this dog and are considering adoption, please take 3-4 minutes and complete our application form at:  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/42179/generic   Our adoption team will contact you shortly to help with the process.
