Story
Marnie has been in foster for a few weeks and this is what her foster family has to say about her:
If you've been searching for a happy, loving companion who makes every day a little warmer, Marnie is already halfway to your heart. This eight-year-old sweetheart has mastered the art of being exactly the right amount of dog: present, affectionate, and blissfully low-maintenance.
Marnie is a dream work-from-home companion. While you're on calls and answering emails, she'll be curled up on her bed right next to your desk, napping peacefully and radiating good energy. She doesn't need much to be happy, a few slow, leisurely walks throughout the day are plenty for her, and she's perfectly content to let the world come to her pace.
And when the world does come to her? She is absolutely thrilled about it. On walks, Marnie hops up and down with pure joy to greet every person she meets...she has yet to encounter a stranger she didn't want to befriend immediately. She takes her treats with the gentlest little mouth, as if she's accepting a gift with the utmost gratitude (because she is).
At home, Marnie is house-trained with zero accidents, and her daily routine is delightfully simple. She loves a cozy couch snuggle session, but when it's time for bed, she settles right into her own bed for the night, no negotiating required. She does take daily medication, which couldn't be easier: just tuck it into a treat, and she handles the rest like a champ.
A couple of things to know and love about Marnie: she's still building her confidence with car rides; she's a work in progress there, and patience goes a long way with her. And fair warning, her water bowl situation is a little "enthusiastic." Keep a towel nearby and call it character. While we don't have other dogs in our home, Marnie had a wonderful tandem walk with a pit bull friend.
Marnie isn't looking for an adventure...she's looking for a person. Someone who wants a devoted soul to share their days with. If that sounds like you, please reach out. She's ready to make your home her forever one.
Marnie is currently in a foster home. If you're interested in her, please email kswanson@berkeleyca.gov First, we'll set up a virtual meeting with their current foster family via phone, Zoom, or Facetime, to provide you with more detailed information. Then, if you feel that Marnie might be a good adoption fit, shelter staff will gladly coordinate an up-close and personal meet and greet with your potential family member. Thank you for your support!
