Story
Ryder is a very good dog. Hes about a year and a half old. Ive had him since he was 10 weeks old and have put in the majority of the groundwork regarding obedience (could use a touch up) and socializing with other dogs and humans. Hes totally good with strangers. Very happy go lucky and excited. Crate trained. He needs 24/7 back yard access or a farm to run around on. He spends time on a farm pretty frequently so he knows what cows and chickens and goats are. He plays well with other dogs. Hes relatively independent but hes not a runner so hes around but not underfoot if you give him the space. He’s a very routine oriented dog and will let you know if you are running late. He’s great with baths and has gotten one every week or two for his whole life. He is the definition of “if you’re gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough”. He’s got more leg than he knows what to do with so he’s relatively clumsy

Story
Melba is a deserving little "project dog" who will need a patient, calm home where she can feel safe and thrive. She is very skittish and although she likes to be around her people, she has not warmed up to the idea of being petted yet. Melba is very interested in her person and will give kisses to her foster mom's fingertips and follow her all over the yard while her foster mom gardens. Melba just isn't comfortable being pet yet and does not cuddle. Because Melba is a project dog, her adoption fee is lower in the hopes that a dog savvy person will consider giving her a chance and continue her socialization and training. - 20 pounds and approximately 2 years old - Possibly a Chihuahua/Pug mix - Seeking a home with another friendly dog to pal around with. Melba is fostered with large dogs and has done well with them. She follows the lead of other dogs and has been submissive in nature. - We have not seen her with cats but we predict she will be fine with cats. - Super cute, endearing little dog who survived being abandoned on a property in California with a litter of puppies. - Calm in the home and mostly naps on her bed. She does have a playful side with other dogs and gets excited to romp with them. - Crate trained and sleeps quietly in her crate at night - Has only had one potty accident during her time in foster and readily goes potty outside in the yard and will also potty on leash. - On the quiet side, Melba isn't much of a barker so far. She does some cute little whines to show you she's interested in you though and wants to be included. - Still learning to feel comfortable out in the neighborhood on walks. Mostly a homebody but is learning that walks are fun. She especially likes to be with other dogs on walks since they boost her confidence and she follows their lead. Melba is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, microchipped, dewormed and current on flea/tick/heartworm/dewormer. Her adoption fee also includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner veterinary clinics in Oregon City, Milwaukie, Portland or Tualatin. $100 adoption fee Fostered in Oregon City, Oregon APPLY TO ADOPT MELBA ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG

Story
Viola is available through Project POOCH. If you are interested in adoption, learn more and submit an application at pooch.org/viola Angel, sweet, perfect, demon, cuddly, goofy, silly, lovable, loyal, playful, exuberant, beautiful, amazing eyes, best friend forever—these are all words and phrases that apply to Miss Viola. At 8 months old she is still very much a puppy and learning every day. We see the progress she has made during her time at POOCH. She knows her basic cues—her sit is on point!—She walks well on leash, makes friends easily, loves to play with other dogs, and has learned to self-soothe when left alone. Viola is very smart and can learn quickly. She is going to need someone who wants to continue the work we have started with her. She's very food-motivated and eager to learn. If you are willing to put the time into raising a teenager, you are going to end up with a best friend for life. Viola does really well with her dog friends at POOCH, and she could be a great addition to a dog home. When going on adventures, Viola would love to be included! She is a brave girl who is gaining confidence in the world. If you’re looking for a buddy to join your adventures, she would be an excellent choice. Continue building her confidence, and you’ll have an amazing hiking partner as she has the energy to get up and go, but can settle for the drive back home. Like any puppy, Viola would benefit from continued training classes as she grows. Not only will that help her in her ‘teenage’ phase, but it can help a bond form! She could possibly blossom in dog sports or be a trick champion, but needs a partner to do so. If you’re looking for a couch potato, she is probably not the puppy you need. Project POOCH will provide 3 1-hour sessions with a Project POOCH dog trainer (in person if you live within a 1-hour radius of Woodburn, or virtually if you live farther out). Our Adoption process includes a meet & greet at our kennel inside Maclaren Youth Correctional Facility, and a home/overnight visit, where we bring Viola to you, help you set up your home for her, and she can stay with you for 1 night to 2 weeks to see if she is a good fit for you. We want to help setup Viola to be a successful addition to your home. Interested? https://www.pooch.org/adoption-application

Story
Georgia is at Project POOCH. To learn more and to apply, go here - pooch.org/georgia Sweet Georgia Peach here! I’m certain that I am the one you’re looking for. I love adventuring with my POOCH friends. They’ve found out that I love water, other dogs, and food! I’m eager to work for my snacks and am SUPER excited to show off my skills. Surely you need something as sweet as me in your life! Georgia is a young, smart, energetic dog. She has been working with the youth here and learning all sorts of manners. She is good at politely waiting at doorways, learning better leash skills, and loves to show off her tricks. Georgia is the kind of dog who can make training look effortless. In playgroups Georgia is very adaptable to different play styles. She can play chase, romp, and wrestle, though she does love to play gladiators with fellow POOCH dog Viola. Georgia can greet over enthusiastically at times, so sometimes needs support to stay calm so she doesn’t overwhelm shy potential friends. However, her social skills make her an excellent intro for new dogs into the playgroups. During spring sunshine we pulled out the pools and Georgia had a BLAST running through them and playing with the water from the hose. We have no doubt that she would be a star on the trails, through creeks and streams. This girl is MADE for Oregon adventures, from the coast to the mountains, she would love to be your companion! Since Georgia lives in a kennel we cannot say for sure that she is potty-trained. But the way she uses her kennel does indicate that she understands the concept of going potty outside, and with some investment of time in a new home will grasp the concept pretty quickly.

Story
This is Roxy, she is 11 months old and a Belgian Malinois. She has been a great dog to our family and just adores our kids, but recently has decided that she doesn’t like our little dog. She loves lots of attention and thinks she’s a lap dog still! We’re hoping to find her a home where she has room to run and can be given lots of love. She follows simple commands, sleeps in her kennel and is goose trained.

Story
Hi, this is Jack. He is 5 years old and has been such an amazing part of our lives. He is the perfect dog for someone who is really active, but he is also great for someone who is more mellow and just wants to hang out and cuddle. He truly enjoys both. Jack is very energetic, but he is also incredibly intelligent. He gets along well with many people and is definitely more of a people dog. He grew up with a cat and with small children, and he has been amazing with both. We are looking for someone who has the energy to keep up with him and give him the attention he truly craves. Due to health issues, we have not been able to fully meet his need for human attention, and he is really looking for a home where he can get that love, time, and connection. He would do best with someone who is ready to give him lots of cuddles and take him on short or long walks.
