Cosmo is a squish. She is very mellow and great around kids. She has experience with another pit bull and does well from a time that we had a cat. She is very lazy and cuddly. We have had some personal and family issues come up and we just can’t give her the time and attention she needs.

Story
His name is jay he is an Australian shepherd mixed. He is 8 years old he is very loving, loves to play fetch and smiles when he sees you, he is really protective he’s not good with other people unfortunately but once he gets comfortable he likes them, he is not good with other dogs so I need someone who is willing to take him and train him. He was my brothers dog until my brother moved out of state and wasn’t able to take him with him. My parents are moving and can’t really take the dog with them. We would really appreciate if someone is willing to take him and train him we really wouldn’t want him to be put down, he is a good dog.

Story
He is a beautiful dog that is energetic and once he calms down is a cuddle bug. Our family has been going through personal struggles and we can no longer dedicate the time to working with him and giving him the attention he needs. He used to go to work at construction sites and was well behaved. His training has been lax and he could use some touch ups. He is great playing with kids and has never bit anyone or any dogs. He has been with another pit bull mix so he is very accustomed to other dogs.

Story
Rupert is an incredibly sweet and happy dog! He is full of energy and loves to play. We unfortunately can not keep him due to time constraints and relocating. Rupert would benefit from an experienced owner who is willing to spend time with him. He is very affectionate. We're not sure how he interacts with other dogs or kids, but he is very sweet so we are hopeful. He would benefit from someone who can take him outside frequently for walks and to play.

Story
Small in name, big on presence, that is Guppy! This boy is an attention-getter- the squishy face and connection seeking eyes can convince anyone to give him a little love or a free-treat. His favorite things, in no particular order, Guppy loves- kisses, booty scratches, sharing treats with his new girlfriend, and apples. Yes, apples! Maybe not that surprising but what makes it especially fun is the chompy-chomp sound it makes when he chews them, if you have ever fed a horse an apple or an apple slice, you know the sound- it is so good! We all agree, our favorite thing about Guppy is his tippy-tappy dance, reserved for his favorite people. Imagine that big beefcake greeting you at the door doing his little dance! My heart! Watch his video and fall in love with his squishy face: https://youtu.be/rnar21HAXbE?si=hkn2-tBrUQOkU-7f Guppy is estimated to be 5 years old and is likely an American bulldog/Pittie mix. Of course, given Guppy is a rescue, we cannot guarantee breed or age. He currently weighs 63 lbs and has a few pounds to gain so we expect him to top out around 65-70 lbs. Another one of our favorite things about Guppy, is how great he is with kids!! He has spent a lot of time with our Director of Behavior and Intakes son and she is constantly impressed by his patience, tolerance, and over relaxed nature around her 4 year old son. Yes he is relaxed in nature around her son but he knows how to be a fun silly guy as well. Kobe loves to toss around the toys for a little game of fetch and there's Guppy just hanging out watching the action and occasionally joining in as well. He was not bothered but us rolling around on the floor with him, running around like little minions, and wasn't phased by her son jumping on and off the couch too. Another thing that we were super impressed by was Guppy's patience and impulse control with her son's fruit bar especially since he loves his snacky snacks. Guppy would sit right next to him patiently watching, hoping for a little morsel to be dropped on the floor. There was even a time when some was dropped on the floor and her son went to go pick it up and Guppy did not go zooming over to it to gobble it up. He knew it was her son's snack and not his and when it is a snack for Guppy, he was very gentle when taking treats from him and was not pushy or overbearing. He also really enjoyed licking the cheese off of her son's fingers. He's a great pup to have around to help with the after dinner clean ups. We have introduced Guppy to a variety of dogs to gauge his play style and who he gravitates to naturally. It has been easy to see that he shines brightest when he is with female dogs—his “type” continues to be the calmer, lower-energy females. His girlfriend, at leash he thinks she is, is a wiggly senior female who has the same love of treats and laying around. The two of them together is just about the cutest and he really showed us he is quite the gentleman. If they were being offered treats, he always let her have one first, never once getting pushy. If looking to match-make your current dog in your home, Guppy would be a great companion for a female that matches his chill, low-energy approach to play and life. Guppy is also gentleman in his crate- he has not made a mess once in his crate. As for other pets, a no-cats or small animals home is needed. Whether its chickens or cats or similar- Guppy wants to chase and given his size that is an avoidable bit of chaos. On walks, Guppy’s excitement to be out and about greeting the people and seeing the sights, can lead to him pulling, so he is actively practicing leash training and making great progress everyday. The truth is though, this boy isn’t the outdoor adventure type, his interest in being outside is limited to backyard potty breaks, after that he is headed back inside to that cozy spot by your feet. He is happy to go out in the back yard for a potty break and then back to that spot by your feet or in his cozy bed. If you really want him to be a true 'couch potato” you may have to offer him a few of the good treats and even then he is going to let you hear a tiny bit of sass back. Its a cute little chatter that makes us all laugh. You will see a moment of it in his intro-video. His treat-motivated focus makes him a great candidate for continued teaching and training whether its just for fun or to polish him up to be a model best-boy but he comes with the basic- a great sit and a good recall. Another time Guppy uses his voice is to say hi from a distance when he sees someone he likes or wants to meet, it isn’t excessive but it does make him better suited for house living rather than an apartment. At the rescue when Guppy is hanging out in the living room he doesn’t use his voice to greet people though, he just hops up and comes right over, whether he knows you or its your first time passing through. From painters to volunteers, everyone got a Guppy Greeting! Guppy is ready to find his forever home, where his low-maintenance personality and goofy nature will be cherished and his booty regularly scratched. If you’re looking for a hang-out all da, full of love, companion who will keep you smiling, Guppy could be the one for you. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Story
If love an independent natured dog, Pearl is your girl! This a low-maintenance girl who doesn’t want to be your shadow but will make you feel loved just the same. Not being the attention seeking type doesn’t mean she lacks charm though- from her looks to her easy-company, she has plenty of charm for someone who appreciates her low-key style. You were surely drawn in by her eyes, one sparkles blue and one is warm brown. She is really striking and stands proud which makes her a gorgeous scene. Plus, she has the cutest fluffy tail. In the same way people can be described as introverts and extroverts, it is very similar for dogs. If we were going to define her as one or the other, Pearl is an introvert. A self-confident introvert with great social skills who prefers to take things slow basically. With dogs, she enjoys a good romp. Her foster has shared that the dog she enjoys most is an especially big male who enjoys playing rough-and-tumble but takes breaks and is just as happy to wander around with her in the yard. Pearls ideal home would include a yard and I would even call her a yard explorer, she loves nothing more than just putzing around the yard checking out the garden, watching the birds, and occasionally making a bid for someone to play with her. She knows how to keep the peace but has motherly energy in larger groups of dogs, almost like she is sets the tone of keeping it light-hearted. No cats for Pearl though, she has the idea that cats don’t like her so she decided the feeling is mutual. She would definitely try to chase a cat if the occasion arises and cats sure do hate that. Pearl is estimated to be about 3 years old and weighs 64 lbs. She is in the phase of life where dogs settle into themselves which is overall marked with the easy-days. She is crate-trained, loves car rides, and is equally motivated by treats and a good “attagirl” amount of praise. Pearl will likely give her new family a touch of her introverted personality as she warms up to a new home but a little patience is all it takes for her. Before you know it that quirky personality of hers will start to shine. We would love to see Pearl in a home with a yard given how much she loves her outside time. She has basic leash skills but walks on leash are not her love language like some dogs. That independent confident nature of hers will be satisfied with the occasional zoomies and solo “adventures” in the yard. If you like your girls independent, the type that will happily spend their life with you without smothering you, and will come when you call, Pearl is your perfect match. If Pearl sound like your kind of companion, apply today! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/64fe4d945b1d5552210f3db4 Questions?
