Story
Meet Woofgang Puck, or just Puck for short! This lovable 8-year-old Chihuahua mix is a little bundle of joy, possibly with a sprinkle of Beagle in his genes. At first, Puck may come off as shy, but give him a moment, and his playful side will shine like a star! Puck adores his toys and loves to get into some light-hearted trouble—just picture him as the life of the party! He enjoys his naps, but don’t let him miss out on the fun; after all, who wants to snooze through an adventure? He loves being outside, but keep an eye on him—if the yard isn’t secure, he might go on his own mini explorations. And be careful! If a door is left open, he’s ready to dash out! When it comes to other dogs, Puck needs a little help. He has a tendency to “assist” them with their meals, which can be quite annoying. His friendly greetings can be a bit much—he barks, jumps, and wags his tail enthusiastically, which may confuse his canine pals. With some training, he can learn to tone it down. He’s also learning how to handle his protective instincts, but if you have other pets, be prepared to guide him through it. Puck is quite the jumper when he’s excited and might unexpectedly leap onto you, giving playful nips at your legs! He listens when corrected but often forgets the rules once the fun starts again. While he’s crate trained, Puck feels much more comfortable snoozing on a cozy bed rather than being confined to a crate. Sleeping in your bed isn’t something he’s into just yet. The good news is, he’s house trained and will let you know when it’s time to go out. Puck does have a heart murmur and takes medication twice a day for it. He can get a bit anxious, especially when being picked up or during car rides, and sitting on laps isn’t really his scene. This sweet boy is looking for a forever home filled with love, patience, and understanding. With your support, Puck will be ready for short hikes and exciting adventures with his favorite human! Puck has been neutered, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. He also had a recent dental and lost a few teeth. Story
Sawyer is a “Pocket Bully” born in September 2018 with a cleft lip, cleft palate, and spina bifida. He is currently eating and drinking safely on his own and we don’t believe his cleft lip/palate will require any surgical intervention. Sawyer will always need a little extra supervision to make sure he doesn’t eat anything dangerous for him, and will never be able to safely eat wet or goopy foods like canned food, peanut butter, yogurt, or any other liquids other than water. But otherwise he is expected to live a long, healthy life. The spina bifida causes Sawyer to be incontinent and to have some weakness in his back legs. He can walk and get around very well, but he will be in diapers for the rest of his life. He is a very happy, spunky pup and is friendly with humans and other dogs. He needs a committed home willing to give him the extra care he needs to thrive. Sawyer has been neutered, is current on vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm and is also micro chipped. If you are interested in adopting, please complete our online adoption application at www.uaaf.org. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please email Jenn at jennc@mac.com or text at 801-554-9501.

Story
Cady is an adorable senior lady with a big personality! She’s sweet, but she definitely knows what she likes and doesn’t like, especially when it comes to sharing her space with other dogs. Food is her treasure, and she can be quite protective of it! Cady is pretty clever, too. She can use a dog door, as long as it’s not too high. She’s also good with stairs, but honestly, she’d rather be carried — who wouldn’t want to be pampered a bit? When it comes to her favorite activities, Cady loves nothing more than lounging around and getting some love. She’ll happily snuggle up while you pet her, often drifting off to sleep in sheer bliss. She’s not the type to run around nonstop; she prefers a laid-back lifestyle. However, it’s good to keep in mind that Cady might not be the best fit for homes with small children, as she can be a little particular about her space. Overall, she’s a lovely companion who enjoys chilling out and soaking up affection! Cady has been spayed, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Cady, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt). Story
Meet Pita! Pita is a 9-month-old, 60-pound cattle dog mix who’s as smart as he is playful. His favorite game is tug, and he’s already mastered sit, lay down, wait, stay, leave it, and don’t beg. He’s great on leash, too—he’ll even sit with a gentle pull upward. Food is the way to his heart, which makes him highly trainable. Because he can be protective of his meals, his foster has been teaching him to sit before eating and practice calmly giving up his bowl mid-meal for a tasty reward. With consistency, he’ll keep improving. Pita is house-trained and lets you know when he needs to go out by politely whining at the door. He’s never had an accident, loves chewing sticks, and is eager to learn more every day. This smart, loyal pup is looking for an active home that will continue his training and give him the love and structure he thrives on. If you’re ready for a playful companion with brains and heart, Pita could be your perfect match! Pita is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and ready to find his forever home. Interested in adopting Pita? Complete an adoption application at uaaf.org/adopt or contact Randee at 801-232-8157 or randeekrichardson@gmail.com.

Story
Meet Winchester, an extra-large love bug with an even bigger heart! After spending 120 days waiting in a shelter in Idaho, this handsome adult dog made his way to Salt Lake City in search of the perfect home. And now, he’s ready to show you just how much love (and snuggles!) a big boy can give. Winchester is incredibly affectionate and has mastered the art of puppy-dog eyes — the kind that make you feel guilty for even thinking about ignoring him. He loves attention, cuddles, and being close to his people. Because of his size and strength, he’ll do best with a special adopter who’s ready to handle his brawny build as well as his tender heart. He’ll need to be the only pet in the home, but trust us: Winchester has more than enough love to give all on his own. If you’re looking for a loyal, goofy, snuggly companion with a heart of gold, Winchester might just be your perfect match. Visit the Best Friends Lifesaving Center in Salt Lake City or email utahadoptions@bestfriends.org if you’re interested in meeting Winchester.
