Story
Meet Woofgang Puck, or just Puck for short! This lovable 8-year-old Chihuahua mix is a little bundle of joy, possibly with a sprinkle of Beagle in his genes. At first, Puck may come off as shy, but give him a moment, and his playful side will shine like a star! Puck adores his toys and loves to get into some light-hearted trouble—just picture him as the life of the party! He enjoys his naps, but don’t let him miss out on the fun; after all, who wants to snooze through an adventure? He loves being outside, but keep an eye on him—if the yard isn’t secure, he might go on his own mini explorations. And be careful! If a door is left open, he’s ready to dash out! When it comes to other dogs, Puck needs a little help. He has a tendency to “assist” them with their meals, which can be quite annoying. His friendly greetings can be a bit much—he barks, jumps, and wags his tail enthusiastically, which may confuse his canine pals. With some training, he can learn to tone it down. He’s also learning how to handle his protective instincts, but if you have other pets, be prepared to guide him through it. Puck is quite the jumper when he’s excited and might unexpectedly leap onto you, giving playful nips at your legs! He listens when corrected but often forgets the rules once the fun starts again. While he’s crate trained, Puck feels much more comfortable snoozing on a cozy bed rather than being confined to a crate. Sleeping in your bed isn’t something he’s into just yet. The good news is, he’s house trained and will let you know when it’s time to go out. Puck does have a heart murmur and takes medication twice a day for it. He can get a bit anxious, especially when being picked up or during car rides, and sitting on laps isn’t really his scene. This sweet boy is looking for a forever home filled with love, patience, and understanding. With your support, Puck will be ready for short hikes and exciting adventures with his favorite human! Puck has been neutered, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. He also had a recent dental and lost a few teeth. If you are interested in adopting Puck, please complete an adoption application on our website. Just go to uaaf.org/adopt. Story
Hi, I’m Nora! I’m a 6-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix with a BIG personality and an even bigger heart. I love to make an entrance—whether I’m zooming down the hallway or running in and out of the house, you’ll hear me coming! My tail is usually wagging, and I’m always excited to see my people. When playtime is over, I’m a total snuggle bug and would be very happy curled up next to you on the couch. I’m loyal to the core and once I choose my person, you’re my person forever. I can be a little sassy (okay, maybe a lot), but that’s part of my charm. I also LOVE toys—seriously, I’ve built quite the collection and I’m very proud of it. I get along with other dogs, though I can be a bit bossy at times. I don’t have to be an only pup, but I do best with dog-savvy humans who understand that small dogs can have big feelings. I’m very protective of my people and just want to keep them safe. Cats? Well… I think they’re fun to chase, so I’d probably prefer a home without them (or with cats who can stand their ground). The good news? I’m crate trained, house trained, great on a leash, spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped—and I just had a dental, so my smile is sparkling. If you’re looking for a sweet, spunky, toy-loving cuddle buddy with loads of personality, I might be your girl. I promise to love you fiercely and keep life entertaining. If you are interested in adopting Nora, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt). Story
Ryder is a sweet guy with a slow‑to‑trust heart and a fast‑to‑attach personality. Once you’re “his person,” you officially have a Velcro dog. Sharing his human? Hard pass. Playing? Absolutely. He loves to play—sometimes a little too enthusiastically—and can intimidate dogs his size or smaller simply by being a caffeinated toddler in a dog suit. We call him “Squirrel” because he never stops moving. His tail goes a mile a minute, and he wiggles like he’s powered by sunshine. But settle him in your lap and he instantly transforms into a warm, snoring cinnamon roll. Potty training is still a work in progress, but he wears a belly band like a pro. Leash skills are… developing. He’s also learning the dog door and crate one small victory at a time. If you’re interested in a wiggly little shadow who lives for lap time (and prefers not to share it), Ryder is your guy. He’ll thrive with confident dog friends who won’t steal his human—or his spotlight. Ryder has been neutered, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Ryder, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt). Story
Meet Cookie—one of the sweetest little dogs you’ll ever meet! This two-year-old, 8 lb. mini BerneDoodle has a huge heart and so much love to share. Cookie adores people and wants to be wherever her humans are. She’s just as happy heading out for a walk or car ride as she is snuggled up for a cozy Netflix marathon. A true cuddle bug, she’ll happily keep you warm on chilly days. Cookie does great with other dogs, big or small, and peacefully coexists with cats. She’s a quiet little lady who rarely barks. At mealtime she shows her excitement by zooming in delighted (and sometimes slightly hazardous!) circles around your feet. She loves her food and never says no to a healthy snack. Cookie has a few medical needs that are well managed and will require ongoing care with her forever family and veterinarian. She has a seizure disorder controlled with a low dose of phenobarbital twice daily—she takes it easily with a little peanut butter – easy, peasy. She also had pancreatitis in the past, now managed with medication and a low-fat diet, which she should continue. Because she’s such an enthusiastic eater, she uses a puzzle bowl to slow things down (and she thinks it’s fun!). She should be fed separately only because she’d gladly sample everyone else’s dinner. Grooming isn’t her favorite activity, but with patience and a gentle groomer, she continues to improve. Cookie is spayed, heartworm-negative, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She’s truly a darling girl—could you be her forever family? If you are interested in adopting Cookie, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt). Story
Meet Fairy, your professional nap consultant. Fairy is a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix who has officially retired from the rat race and is looking for a soft place to land. Fairy takes her rest seriously, but when the "silly" hits, it’s pure magic. Fairy may look deep in slumber, but a strategically placed ear scritch will activate her instantly for tail wags and cuddles. If there is a pile of blankets, Fairy is at the bottom of it. She’d love to share your bed—provided you don't mind a tiny, warm lump under the covers. While she loves a duvet, she’s always down for a dignified afternoon stroll in the sunshine. Fairy is flexible! She is equally happy being your "Only Child" or joining your "Golden Girls" squad for occasional youthful romps with other dogs. However, she has a "no-paparazzi" policy regarding cats—she won't start a fight, but she’ll definitely have some choice words for them. A feline-free home is preferred. Due to her age and size, no babies in the house please. (Older children with proper pet etiquette are acceptable.) This classy lady maintains proper housebroken manners when kept to a schedule, though she’s smart enough to use a potty pad in case of an emergency. Fairy has been spayed, has had a dental cleaning, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. Ready to add a little magic to your life? Fairy is waiting to turn your house into a cozy home. If you are interested in adopting Fairy, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt). Story
Say hello to Nova! At just 1½ years old and 26 pounds, this small Siberian Husky girl is a perfect mix of beauty and brains. Her stunning blue eyes will stop you in your tracks—but it’s her loving personality that will truly win you over. She’s incredibly smart and thrives when she has a job to do. With sled dog or agility potential, she’d be an amazing match for someone who loves to bike, run, hike, or camp. She’s happiest when she’s active and part of the adventure! She adores people and is working hard on keeping all four paws on the floor when she says hello (she just gets so excited!). She’s kennel/crate trained and doing great on her potty training as we fine-tune her routine. She’s wonderful with other dogs, cats, and children—and she plays especially cute with her feline friends. While she can be a little timid at times, she blossoms quickly with reassurance and love. She’ll need a home with a fenced yard to safely burn off energy but she is definitely an indoor dog for meals and at night. Bonus: she doesn’t have the typical thick Husky coat, so grooming is a breeze! If you’re looking for an active, affectionate, blue-eyed adventure buddy, she’s your girl. Nova has been spayed, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped and ready for her forever home. If you are interested in adopting Nova, please complete an application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt). For more information, call/text Maryjo at 801-809-0602 or email maryjokorb@gmail.com.
