Story
Courtesy Post - Luna Rae; not located at SVASC Read more about her below: "Hi, my name is Luna Rae aka "Bug" I am a boxer/terrier/pit mix and just turned three on December 29th! I am very energetic and get super excited when people come around, but no worries - I do calm down and become quite the love bug. I am hoping to be adopted by someone where I can be the ONLY pet, as I love ALL the attention and just have so much love to share. I am up to date on my shots and have been spayed and microchipped. I am also crate trained and house broken! I love chewing on my bones and sometimes climb up in your lap and see if you want to try and take it from me. I haven't been exposed to many young kids so my energy may be a bit much for them and tend to jump up, but I am doing better with that. I know commands such as sit, crate and treat.....oh how I love treats and I have been known to give some high fives. I will tell you that I am not a fan of the vacuum cleaner that thing is loud, and I will go after it so it doesn't get you." For more information, reach out to Luna Rae's human at kejmom729@gmail.com

Story
Humerus has been available for adoption since September 2024 with little interest, even having gone to multiple events. We don't really know what he's mixed with but he's certainly a working dog who needs a job to do! Humerus is a lovable and energetic companion, perfect for an active family or individual looking for a workout buddy! He would thrive in an environment where he has a purpose, such as agility training, farm chores, fetch games or even simple tasks like retrieving items or going on long walks. We think he'd be good with kids & other doggos, but likely not cats. Some of his favorite things include tennis balls, rope toys and don't forget the BELLY RUBS! With enough exercise and mental stimulation, his friendly and affectionate personality will shine through, and he'll be the happiest, most playful pup around. Please visit the shelter to say hello to this wonderful, handsome guy! updated 2/05/25

Story
Meet Roo, a spirited and playful pup who's ready for his forever home! After being at the shelter since August 2024, Roo is eager to find a loving family where he can thrive. This cuddle bug is high energy, enjoys playing fetch and has a knack for thinking that TV and mirror reflections are real...He also jumps like a kangaroo (guess where we got his name...)! How do we know all of this? Well, this cutie had previously gone into a foster-to-adopt home before we knew how he'd fare with cats. Lesson learned - NO CATS! Roo is about 80% housetrained but definitely needs some manners. He would also benefit from a patient and assertive “mentor” dog to help him learn boundaries and social skills. Roo would make a wonderful companion for a family with kids who can engage his playful spirit! Just look at those eyes - you KNOW he's such a sweetheart! Give Roo a chance and fill out an adoption application today! previously, named "Coccyx Bone" - renamed 12/02/24 -CR updated 2/03/25

Story
If you are looking for a very energetic & affectionate pup, then you've struck gold! Sunrise Dawn is very athletic, agile & bouncy; and, boy, can she run! On top of that, she is a beautiful lady with some very unique spotted markings, mostly on her underside, that remind one of those nifty jackets with the contrast linings. Very bespoke! We're thinking Catahoula/Lab mix? Sunrise LOVES to give hugs & kisses to anyone who will let her; and is very people oriented. She's been great with kids, but can be dog selective and should go to a home NO CATS (strong prey drive). Her ideal pet parent/s will be patient, confident, and able to offer Sunrise plenty of exercise, preferably on a property with space to run. She's also very strong and would greatly benefit from an Obedience Training class. Sunrise is a special lady that needs to be exercised & challenged often! Want to meet her? Call the shelter to set up a meet & greet! updated 10/30/24
