Story
Now, I'm not the famous author, but I am just about the coolest dog that there ever was and I think that that is enough to help me make history, right? Hi there! I'm Bark Twain, a 5 year old Mixed Breed who is looking for a fresh start and partner to help me write down my happy tails. I am super handsome, super loving, and really ready to make someone happy. I am an active fella, who would love to have a buddy to go to the park with, to go hiking or fishing with, or to even just hang out in the backyard with. I am a fetch machine and love to play, play, play. When I'm not playing, I love tummy rubbins and learning new tricks. I am food motivated and enjoy learning new things, so I pick up on new commands quickly; I am really eager to make my people happy! I am a total ham and love any attention that I can get, so people of all ages are a-okay by me! Other than being just a smidge bouncy, I should be just fine with kiddos, if you are willing to make sure that I learn not to bounce on them! With other dogs, I'm kind of hit or miss, but no one is friends with everyone, right? I adore one of the girly dogs in my foster home and may be able to live with another calm, female companion. I would also be just fine being your only child and center of attention. The most remarkable thing about me is the size of my heart and my ability to devote myself to the people I love. You can count on me to snuggle you when you are sad and play with you when you are happy. I will be your loyal companion for life! Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
Rosa is a rottweiler who weighs about 90-100 pounds and is guessed to be around 6-8 years old. Rosa was looking pretty rough when she found herself in a high-kill shelter in SW Va. Since coming to us, she has flourished! Rosa is a smart girl who knows how to sit and shake hands. She loves food and is willing to work for it. She is big and strong but is well behaved for her foster mom. We are looking for a strong, competant owner for Rosa who does not have other pets. We would love to see Rosa in her very own home with her very own family. A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Rosa, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA. Story
Bricks is a 9 year old, pitbull mix who is absolutely built like a brick. Short, heavy, thick, brown-ish red. He's a low rider with tiny little legs and minimum ground clearance. Bricks is a charming little guy who likes to bounce, sniff and explore! He's happy, friendly and loves to cuddle up under a warm blanket. He was house trained but may need a refresher after being kenneled. He's excellent on-leash and is the perfect little partner to stroll with you around the neighborhood. Bricks was adopted out from a rescue years ago. Shortly, after being adopted from them, he stripped his collar while out for a walk and hurt another dog. Tougher than the 90's crime bill, Va law labeled Bricks as "dangerous" and he will pay for that mistake for the rest of his life. One strike, he's out. He's lucky he isn't dead. He was able to live at a sanctuary ran by that rescue but when they closed, Bricks had no where to go. Lucky for him, the President of Augusta Dog Adoptions is famililar with Va law and was willing to care for Bricks as legally required. Bricks can be adopted within the state of Va with additional requirements. But hey, we have good dogs that no one wants so the chances of that are slim to none. Brick's best chance of finding a home is out of state. He cannot go to a home with cats. He has been ok with some dogs but dominant/aggressive with others. The safest place for him is in a home without other pets. I don't know how to tell someone they should adopt a dog with such a label. You would just have to meet him for yourself. He's little and kind and cute and funny and he deserves to have a family who loves him. A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Bricks, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs! Story
Our BEST boy is waiting to meet you! Hound lovers, Meet Clyde. Clyde found himself in a very rural shelter with more dogs than adopters. Because the competition was younger and smaller, he didn't stand much chance of being chosen. Lucky for him, we are suckers for senior coonies and happily welcomed him into our adoption program. Clyde is the most kind an gentle soul. He enjoys gazing into your eyes and leaning on you show is love. He is a dream on-leash and quietly sits in his crate at adoption events just waiting for someone to adore him. It's unlikely that Clyde has lived in a home and may need some extra support with house training and basic manners. Given his easy going personality, we bet he will adjust rather easily. Clyde is a treeing walker coonhound who is guessed to be about 7-9 years old and weighs about 65 pounds. He recently had a dental so he'll be ready to smile at his new family for years to come! We adore Clyde and are proud to have saved him. Now, let's find his furEVER family! Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3 charitable, foster- based rescue. Story
PHOTO SHOOT! ALL EYES ON WHISKEY, PLEASE! Whiskey is a Treeing Walker Coonhound who is guessed to be around 2 years old and weighs about 60 pounds. He began his adoption journey in February when he came to us from a shelter in rural SWVA. Since then, Whiskey has grown so much healthier in body and spirit and we have learned alot about what he needs to be happy. Whiskey loves people. He loves to be close to you and yearns to fit into your lap. Whiskey is cratetrained and housetrained and has began working on indoor manners. Whiskey LOVES other dogs. He needs other dogs and his houndy-dog brain needs fenced in play time with other dogs to be happy. Whiskey is kind and gentle and social and needs playtime and learning to keep his mind and body in harmony! He's truly an amazing hound who deserves an amazing home.
