I miss having a home, a soft bed, and someone to love. But I'm holding on to hope that the right person is out there looking for a pup just like me. Once I feel safe and get to know you, I turn into a total lovebug. I'll even share my toys with you - that's how you'll know I really like you! I'm still a little unsure right now, but with some patience and kindness, I promise I'll come out of my shell. I just need someone who understands that good things take time. I've got a good amount of energy and a big heart to match. I love being with my people as much as possible - my favorite spot in the house is definitely at the foot of your bed. I get along with other dogs, but I can be a bit much for some since I like to play hard. I've even lived with cats before! I was friendly and playful with them, though I might try to chase if they run. I could do well with kids too, especially ones who are respectful and can handle my bouncy energy. I came to the shelter from Tennessee, and it’s clear I didn’t get many chances before now to explore toys, learn commands, or discover how fun life can be. Hi, I'm Zayn! It has been a tough adjustment to shelter life after I was surrendered through no fault of my own. Everything was new and scary, and I wasn't sure who I could trust. But over time, I've started to come out of my shell. Thanks to the patient people here, I'm gaining confidence every day! I'm still cautious with new people (typical shepherd move!), but once I know you're safe, I'll be your loyal shadow - affectionate, playful, and full of love to give. I have an especially difficult time warming up to strange men. I think with time, patience, and understanding, I will be able to show my true self once comfortable! Like most German Shepherds, I'm protective of my space, incredibly smart, and always aware of what's going on around me. I'd really thrive with someone who has shepherd experience - someone who understands my breed and can help me feel secure and confident in my new home. I have had a hard time introducing myself to other dogs since being in the shelter, so right now I think I'd do best as your one and only pet where we can focus on helping me be the best dog I can be! I'd also do best in a home with older, teenaged children as well. I've been through a lot, but I haven't given up on finding my person.
