Story
Leo is a 2-3 year old, 57 pound, husky mix.  He  is a fairly calm boy...though he will have the occasional puppy burst of energy.  Leo's will sit when you ask him to, and will gladly be your co-pilot when driving - he loves car rides and will jump right in the back seat and chill out for the trip.  He is friendly with people and dogs. Personality: friendly, affectionate, fairly calm, good in car Good with: people, and dogs.  No cats for Leo. Training: knows the command for 'sit' Estimated age: approximately 2-3 years old Weight: 57 pounds Medical: vetted, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped Location: Currently located with a foster in Texas, but if adopted, will come to the NJ area on our next monthly transport.  Background: Like so many dogs, Leo's story is a sad one.  Leo spent the beginning of his life with a caring and loving owner who regularly took him to the vet and kept him inside (which is not typical for dogs in the south).  Unfortunately, Leo's owner had to move into a senior residence, so he entrusted a friend to care for his beloved dog.   Long story short, that "friend" kept Leo chained up outside without food and water.  He was so skinny when he was rescued .  He was brought to a kill shelter with a 3 day deadline for euthanasia.  Luckily we were able to pulled him out in the nick of time.  Once we had him seen by a vet we discovered that he was heartworm positive.  We paid for his treatments and are happy to announce that he is now heartworm free and he is a very happy and healthy boy!  He loves meeting new people and spreading joy like only a good boy like Leo can do!   We really want to find Leo a loving, stable home.  He must have been so confused, going from the love and safety of his original owner to being tied up and ignored outside. She already knows how to sit and is eager to please, especially when snacks are involved. She loves being pet and will happily soak up all the attention you give her. Snowy can get a little excited and bouncy when she’s having fun, but it’s all part of her joyful, loving personality. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who will shower you with love and keep you smiling, Snowy is your girl! The Rescue is open 7 days a week for you to come and meet our pets! Walk-ins are welcome! In order to interact with them, you’ll need a simple questionnaire filled out. You can fill this out at the Rescue or before you come in at: https://www.pawscrossedny.org/dog-adoption-questionnaire . If you have any questions, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold pets for any reason. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.October 4, 2026, 1:46 am

Story
Meet Ernie! 🐾💙 Ernie is a handsome 1–2-year-old Husky weighing approximately 55 pounds, and he is one happy, energetic boy! Ernie is looking for an active family ready for plenty of fun, adventure, and Husky antics. He’s young, playful, curious, affectionate, and absolutely loves having a good time. Ernie’s story began about four months ago when he was found wandering as a stray at a remote truck stop in North Edinburg. Since then, he has been waiting for the family who will give him the life he deserves. And let’s just say—Ernie is ready for his next adventure! ❤️ 🐕 Dog Friendly: YES! Ernie absolutely loves other dogs and would do best in a home with canine friends. He is playful, energetic, and enthusiastic, and sometimes his version of fun involves some serious Husky-style roughhousing! Because of this, he would be happiest with large, playful dogs who can match his energy and enjoy an active playmate. 👧 Great with Kids! Ernie loves children and is friendly and affectionate with people of all ages. Because he is still young and learning his manners, younger children should be supervised around him. He’s still figuring out proper doggy etiquette, and his excitement can sometimes get the better of him. 🏡 House Training: Although Ernie has spent his time with us at an animal sanctuary, he has shown wonderful potential for becoming a great house dog. He is crate-trained and does not have accidents in his crate or pen. With patience, consistency, and a little time to adjust to indoor family life, we believe he’ll catch on quickly. 🐱 Cats: Ernie has not yet been tested with cats, so we cannot say for certain how he would do living with them. Given his friendly nature, he may potentially learn to live peacefully with cats with patient training, careful supervision, and slow, proper introductions. 🚗 Adventure Buddy: YES! Ernie is the kind of dog who wants to know, “Where are we going?” He walks beautifully on a leash, loves playing in water, and is always ready to jump into the car and see where the next adventure takes him. 🥾 Active Home Needed Like any young Husky, Ernie has plenty of energy and needs a family who understands that a tired Husky is a happy Husky! He would thrive with someone who enjoys hiking, exploring, walking, playing, and spending time outdoors. Ernie needs more than just a backyard. He needs exercise, enrichment, playtime, adventure, and opportunities to use both his body and his busy Husky brain. He is curious, loyal, and eager to be part of his person’s life. Give him an adventure, and he’ll give you his heart. ❤️ After starting life as a stray at a lonely truck stop, Ernie is ready for something much better: 🐾 A family of his own 🐾 Canine buddies to romp and wrestle with 🐾 Hikes and outdoor adventures 🐾 Water to splash in 🐾 Car rides to wherever life takes him 🐾 And humans who will make him part of every adventure Ernie is ready to be your hiking buddy, road-trip partner, playmate, and best friend. If you’re an active person or family looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who is always ready to explore, Ernie may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. 💙🐺 He’s been waiting for his forever adventure. Could it be with you? PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BELOW IF INTERESTED IN ADOPTING: The next step to adopt is to fill out an application on our website at: www.pawsitive-Impact-animal-rescue.org This doggy is spayed/neutered, heart worm positive (Ernie has started on his slow-kill treatment which is 30 days of antibiotics and regular monthly heart worm prevention), current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. This animal is currently located in Texas, but we do NOT adopt animals in Texas due to the hundreds of animals being euthanized here daily. We have mainly adopted only in the Northeast but are expanding to include Midwest and PNW starting in September of 2026 The adoption fee listed ($595) INCLUDES transport from Texas to one or around one of the locations below. Transport goes to or around the following locations every 1, 2 or 3 weeks: Albany, NY - Port Chester, NY area - Anemia, NY Wells, VT and Brattleboro, VT Nashua, NH Willington, CT - Stamford, CT - Dayville, CT Steubenville, OH – Cincinnati, OH – Grove City, OH Grove City, PA and Washington, PA Ridgefield, NJ - Bordentown, NJ - Egg Harbor City, NJ Emmitsburg, MD - Elkton, MD - Hagerstown, MD Falls Church, VA and Glenn Allen, VA Adding new Stops to the PNW: Boise, ID Portland, OR Tumwater, WA – Bothell, WA – Bellingham, WA Missoula, MT – Laurel, MT We have happily adopted hundreds of animals this way (long distance), and we do our best to make sure the animal you are applying for is the best fit for your home. Story
Meet Willow 💕🐾 Willow is approximately 3 years old, weighs about 60 pounds, and may just be the perfect family dog! Willow’s story began when she was found as a stray and taken in by a Fire Department in the south Texas area. The firefighters welcomed her into their firehouse and made her part of the family while they spent several months trying to locate her owners. Sadly, no owner ever came forward. And what her foster mom has discovered is that Willow is an absolute gem. ❤️ Willow is house-trained, crate-trained, wonderfully well-mannered, and great with children of all ages. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and has a calm, fun-loving personality. She doesn’t need to be the center of attention—she’s perfectly happy just being near her people. One of Willow’s favorite things is simply sleeping peacefully on the floor right next to her human’s bed. She loves following her person around the house and would happily spend her days right by your side. She also loves to cuddle on the couch and hang out with her people. ❤️ And if you love adventures, Willow may be your perfect companion! 🚗🐾 She rides wonderfully in the car and would be an amazing road-trip buddy or riding partner. Walks are also one of her favorite things, so she’ll happily head out for a stroll with her favorite person. Willow is used to having other dogs around, so a home with another dog is preferred. However, she would also enjoy regular opportunities for canine companionship through dog parks or doggy daycare. 🐱 What about cats? Willow has met cats and gets along great with them. If a cat runs, though, Willow thinks it’s an invitation to play and may give chase! As with any dog, proper, gradual introductions and supervision are important when introducing Willow to a cat in the home. Her foster mom has not observed any behavioral issues and describes Willow as an incredibly loving, well-adjusted, easy-going companion who could fit beautifully into just about any kind of home. Energy Level: Calm & Loving & Playful 💕 Willow LOVES to play in the water and would be great to take on adventures or just give her a doggy pool in the backyard Willow spent months waiting for her family to come back for her. They never did—but fortunately, she found her way to safety, where she is now loved, cared for, and cherished. Now, she’s ready for the family who will choose her and love her forever. ❤️ If you’re looking for a sweet, calm, loyal companion who loves walks, car rides, couch cuddles, water activities and simply being by your side, Willow may be your girl. 🐾 Willow has waited long enough. She’s ready for her forever family. Could that be you? ❤️ PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BELOW IF INTERESTED IN ADOPTING: The next step to adopt is to fill out an application on our website at: www.pawsitive-Impact-animal-rescue.org This doggy is spayed/neutered, heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. Story
Meet Cubby – Your Adventure Buddy and Best Friend! Breed: Husky Mix | Age: 2.5 years | Weight: 50 lbs Cubby is a stunning Husky mix with soulful eyes and a heart of gold. After being rescued from an overcrowded backyard situation, this sweet boy has blossomed in foster care and is now ready to find his forever family.   Cubby has discovered the joys of life—walks, playtime, snuggles, and, most of all, people! He’s affectionate, smart, and always seems to be trying to understand everything around him with those expressive eyes. He’s especially great with children and loves being part of a family.   An energetic and athletic pup, Cubby thrives on adventure. He loves long walks, hiking, backpacking, playing fetch, running beside a bike, and splashing in the water. If you lead an active lifestyle, Cubby might just be your perfect match. And when the day is done? He’s happy to chill on his dog bed, content just being near his people.   Cubby currently lives with two other dogs and absolutely loves playing with them. He would thrive in a home with a fenced yard and another dog buddy—or as your one-and-only if he gets plenty of exercise and enrichment.   Cubby is not just a dog—he’s a loyal companion, hiking partner, and forever friend who will bring joy, laughter, and love to your life. All he needs is a family who will give him the active, loving home he deserves.    Fostered in Tennessee   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 7, 2026, 12:24 pm

Story
Meet Lil Bit!! What we see is that Little Bit is an easy going girl that has melted right in to the background of the homelife of women who work from home and have 2 small dogs of their own.  She is respectful of them and is enjoying laying outside and enjoying the beautiful weather and the soft dog bed that has been offered to her.  She is crate trained and just fine.  She would love to play with the small dogs but they have refused her playful offerings.  As cute as she is, they are not interested.  The family we would love to adopt Little Bit is one that has a fenced yard and someone not gone 9 hours a day.  Shorter time gone is fine or even a work from home situation would be perfection.  She is housebroken apparently and she know how to cross her legs like a Southern Lady!   Some added weight might be good for this girl and a 55 pound healthy weight would be ideal for her.  She is a beauty.   A Husky/Shepherd mix is definitely the consensus of her breed.  She is currently 48 pounds and stunning in every way.  Please consider making this girl's Cinderella Story come true NOW!!!   Write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com        PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comOctober 4, 2026, 11:25 am
