Story
Bunny B is an almost 6-year-old, 70-pound girl with a strong presence and a thoughtful heart. She came to the shelter after being seized and surrendered along with many other dogs due to improper care, a situation that asked far too much of her and shaped the way she approaches the world today. Because of that past, Bunny B is observant and selective with her trust. She takes time to warm up to new people and situations and does best when allowed to move at her own pace. She is not chaotic or unpredictable — she simply needs clarity, consistency, and respect. Once she feels secure, Bunny B is affectionate, loyal, and deeply connected to her people. She enjoys being involved in daily routines and wants to feel like part of a stable, dependable home. Bunny B thrives in an active but low-key environment where expectations are clear and her boundaries are understood. She can be selective with other dogs and will need slow, thoughtful introductions. Based on what we’ve observed, a home without cats will be the best fit for her. Bunny B is a powerful, intelligent dog with a sensitive heart. She is looking for adopters who understand that trust is built through patience and kept through consistency. For the right home, Bunny B will be a deeply rewarding companion — steady, loyal, and all heart. Bunny B is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines, including rabies. She’s also been dewormed and started on flea/tick prevention. To apply for adoption or foster, please copy and paste the following link: https://orangecountyva.gov/158/Animal-Shelter

Story
Tansy is a 2-year-old Beagle weighing about 20 pounds who recently arrived as a stray. She is a gentle little girl with a very sweet nature. Tansy can be shy when meeting new people and is still adjusting to her new surroundings, but it doesn’t take long to see how kind and affectionate she truly is. With a little patience and a calm environment, she begins to relax and show her soft personality. She has done well with other dogs and has been so shy that she barely noticed the cats in our cat room. Dogs like Tansy simply need a little time to feel safe and understood. Once she settles in, we believe she will make a wonderful and devoted companion. Tansy is spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed, current on vaccines, and on flea/tick prevention. Story
Jasper is a 3-year-old Pit Bull mix weighing 67 pounds. He came to us as a stray and has been friendly, outgoing, and very people-oriented from the start. He’s an overgrown puppy at heart with a big smile and an enthusiastic approach to life. In a recent home setting, Jasper was gentle with older children, showed no food aggression, and walked nicely on leash. He enjoys being close to his people and settles well once he has had appropriate exercise and interaction. Jasper does best with clear boundaries and consistent guidance. He is a strong, confident dog who benefits from structure and continued work on basic commands. He is hit or miss with other dogs and would require proper introductions. Jasper must go to a cat-free home. He keeps a clean kennel and does well with routine. Jasper is neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed, and current on vaccines and monthly preventatives. He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed, and current on vaccines, flea/tick prevention, and monthly preventatives. Story
Seamus is about 2 years old, weighs roughly 70 lbs, and is a Pit Bull mix with a solid adult build and a personality that still leans toward goofy puppy. He’s expressive, affectionate, and happiest when he’s close to his people. Seamus originally came to the shelter as a stray. He was adopted, but it was confirmed in his previous home that living with children was not a good fit for him. The energy, movement, and unpredictability of young kids caused him significant stress, and he was unable to comfortably settle in that environment. Because of this, Seamus will only be placed in an adult-only home. Homes with young children are not appropriate for him. In the right setting — calm, structured, and predictable — Seamus bonds deeply. He enjoys activity and play, then happily decompresses near his people. He thrives with clear boundaries and confident handling. He has done well with other dogs and enjoys canine companionship. Cats are still unknown and would require careful introduction. At his core, Seamus is a people-focused dog who wants connection and consistency. He’s looking for an adult home that understands his need for stability and can give him the environment where he can truly relax. Seamus is fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested, started on monthly preventatives, dewormed, and current on all vaccines. Story
Zach is an almost-5-year-old, 64-pound Hound mix with a big heart, a goofy grin, and enough enthusiasm to power a small town. He originally came to the shelter as part of a group of hounds and was adopted in 2023 into what we all hoped would be his happily-ever-after. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned, and Zach returned to our care in October 2025 when he and other dogs on the property needed help and a fresh start. Despite the twists in his story, Zach remains incredibly sweet, deeply people-loving, and full of joy. He is the definition of an overgrown puppy in the best way. He greets the world with excitement, curiosity, and a whole lot of affection. He loves being outside, enjoys running in the play yards, and is happiest when he’s moving, sniffing, and exploring. When he’s ready to relax, he turns into a total softie — especially if there’s a stuffed toy involved. Those are his absolute favorite. Because Zach didn’t have much structure early on, he’s still learning some of the basics of home life. He will need an adopter who’s patient, consistent, and willing to help him with things like leash manners and house training. With guidance and positive reinforcement, he’s already showing how eager he is to learn and please. Zach has done well with other dogs, and meet-and-greets are required to make sure everyone is a good match. He previously lived with cats. Zach is neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, and fully vaccinated, including rabies, dewormed and on monthly preventatives.
