Story
Meet Bunny B, a spirited 3-year-old Pit Bull. Bunny B was surrendered along with the other dogs on the property when their owner could no longer properly care for them. Bunny B thrives on walks and loves to zoom around the play yard, showcasing her high-spirited nature and zest for life. She’s always up for a new adventure, and a good walk or romp in the yard is her idea of a perfect day. Her playful energy is contagious, and she loves nothing more than being around people, including children, who she adores. She’s the type of dog who will happily greet everyone with a wagging tail and a big smile. While Bunny B is a social butterfly with people, she can be a bit picky with her dog friends. She’s confident and knows what she likes, which means she might not get along with every dog. It’s important for her to find dog buddies who match her playful yet assertive nature, so patience and careful introductions will help her thrive in a multi-dog home. Bunny B is a smart girl who keeps her kennel clean, but she will need some time and patience to decompress in a new environment. As she adjusts to her new home, she’ll need a caregiver who understands the importance of gentle routines and giving her the space to feel comfortable. With the right guidance, Bunny B will quickly adapt and blossom into the loving, fun companion she’s meant to be. Bunny B was previously spayed. She is Microchipped. We have updated all vaccines including rabies. She has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention. Story
Dior is an almost 4 years old -American Bully-he weighs around 58 lbs. Dior is a confident, energetic boy who came to the shelter as a stray alongside his brother, Jetta. Although their owners were identified, repeated attempts to reach them were unsuccessful and neither dog was reclaimed. Dior is affectionate and playful once he settles in, but he can be a bit bold when first meeting other dogs. Meet and greets with other dogs are required to ensure appropriate matches. Like his brother, Dior is still very puppy-ish and benefits from clear structure, consistency, and continued positive guidance. Dior would do best in a home that understands strong, energetic dogs and is committed to providing routine, enrichment, and ongoing socialization to help him thrive. Dior is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed, and on monthly preventatives. Story
Jansen is a 1-year-old Beagle/Heeler mix, weighing about 23 lbs, with a tender heart and a whole lot to learn about the good life. Before coming to the shelter, Jansen lived outdoors on a chain and never experienced a cozy, cared-for home. Because of that, much of the world is still new to him — indoor life, routines, and the idea that people and places can be safe and predictable. Jansen is a sensitive, sweet puppy who can sometimes meet new situations with a bit of bravado. In unfamiliar or stressful moments, he may try to act bigger than he feels, especially around other dogs. This behavior appears to be rooted in insecurity rather than true assertiveness, and he benefits from slow, thoughtful introductions and calm handling. Once Jansen has time to settle and feel safe, his softer side emerges. He becomes loose, wiggly, and playful, showing off a joyful puppy personality and a sense of humor that’s hard not to smile at. He enjoys movement and interaction but does best when play stays gentle and structured as he continues building confidence. When walked through the cat room, Jansen showed no significant interest in the cats, though as with any pet, careful introductions in a home are always recommended. Jansen will thrive in a home that offers patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and understanding as he continues learning what it means to be a loved indoor companion. He’s still taking puppy steps — and doing his best every day. Jansen is neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations (including rabies), dewormed, and started on flea/tick prevention. Story
Randall is a sweet, gentle little 5 year old-20lb- Beagle who came to the shelter as a stray — dirty, stinky, and clearly in need of some TLC. Since then, he’s had his spa day, complete with a bubble bath, and now he’s fresh, clean, and ready for a brand-new chapter. This boy is all heart. Randall is a lap-loving sweetheart who is happiest when he’s close to his people, soaking up affection. True to his Beagle roots, his nose is often to the ground, exploring the world around him, but he’s just as happy pausing for pets and cuddles along the way. He has done well with the dogs he has met and shows no real interest in the cat room, making him a nice option for a variety of homes. Randall is the kind of companion who just wants to be near you, sharing life’s quiet moments and everyday adventures. Randall is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested, and on monthly preventatives. Apply to adopt here: https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
