Story
Oreo is a 3-year-old male Border Collie/Jindo mix who was rescued from a shelter just before he was scheduled for euthanasia. Sadly, and for unknown reasons, before finding himself abandoned and alone at the shelter, his teeth had been deliberately ground down. Amazingly and despite this, he remains a lively, energetic, and otherwise healthy dog who is remarkably intelligent, craves human interaction, and is very loyal to his guardian. Oreo has the exceptional intelligence typical of Border Collies, fully understanding various commands such as "sit," "wait," and "house." He is also deeply loyal to his guardian and has a strong capacity for forming deep bonds typical of the Jindo breed. He is truly a remarkable dog who has the capacity to grow into an even more amazing companion through continued obedience training and by establishing a trusting relationship with his guardian. Oreo is incredibly affectionate and loves people. He is also very social and gets along well with other dogs. However, he has a habit of jumping when excited, which requires caution when a person is interacting with him in a low position. With consistent training, this behavior can be corrected. Being highly energetic, Oreo possesses excellent jumping ability. At the training center, he has been known to leap over fences—not out of a desire to escape, but due to his curiosity and strong attachment to his guardian. In fact, he has demonstrated behavior where he jumps over a fence when he hears his guardian's voice outside, only to return shortly after. For this reason, families with yards should ensure proper supervision, and a high-fenced environment may be more suitable. The Ideal Family for Oreo is: ✔️ Someone who understands the high intelligence and energy levels of Border Collies, the exceptional loyalty of Jindos, and can provide sufficient mental and physical stimulation ✔️ Someone with experience in training or handling large dogs ✔️ Someone who values bonding with their dog and is ready to build a deep connection ✔️ Someone who can provide ample space for Oreo to move and exercise freely Despite his heartbreaking past, Oreo still loves people and finds his greatest happiness in being with his guardian. With so much intelligence and energy, he has limitless potential to become the perfect lifelong companion if he meets the right family, one that understands him and is ready to provide him with love, care, and proper training. Oreo is waiting for his new family! ❤️

All our dogs are vaccinated, sterilized and are fostered in homes with families. NOBARS believes that a dog is best assessed for a new home environment by living in one!!!! Therefore we do not use kennels, but have a network of approved foster homes where our dogs can be properly assessed before being offered for rehoming. Our foster homes offer a varied range of experiences which means we can choose an appropriate foster home for each dog, but it also means our dogs are able to experience situations which are invaluable to owners looking to take on a new forever friend, such as children, cats and other dogs. http://www.facebook.com/NOBARSRESCUE?ref=hl http://www.nobordersanimalrescuesociety.ca Adoption fee $800

Story
Young Kia, born May 2025 weighs 13 pounds and likely will be a medium sized dog. Sadly despite her young age, she did not have an easy start. Very young she was dumped, and taken in by nearby residents – but they also didn’t care for her – leaving her full of fleas and ticks. Our sister sanctuary the SPCA PV got word that she was in need and managed to fit her into the shelter. Kia is an energetic pup, with a rough and tumble play style, which can be a lot for other dogs, so she might be a solo adventure dog in her home. She plays best with bigger dogs. She was tested with cats and wasn’t afraid, but also a bit over zealous, so might be too much of a party for many cats. Kia has been enjoying some pool time at the shelter, and has become a good swimmer. You can check out her pool adventures here: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/16rxiGaqvo/. In her brief stay in a home she was ok alone, loved to play, and didn’t chew things. Kia is now healthy and vaccinated and is looking for a real family to call her own. She has options to fly to BC or Alberta. If you think you might be a fit for her forever home, or as a foster on her journey to a new life, she’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com, or you can go straight to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw (Please check your spam folder for our response).

Story
8 year old Yesenia is a lab x boxer looking for a home. Yesenia was surviving when kind strangers might feed her, but had to be a strong resilient girl. They suspect she may have been used for breeding and was subjected to having her tail docked. When they no longer wanted her they just left her to fend for herself. Yesenia reads people well and likes to be comforted by them. Yesenia prefers male dogs and isn’t a fan of cats. She is spayed and vaccinated, weighing a perfect 45 lbs. If you think you might be Yesenia’s second chance as either a foster or adopter, she’d love to hear from you by emailing us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com or going direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw.

Story
Hi, I’m Sky! ☀️🐾 I’m a 1-year-old Jindo mix girl with a petite little frame — I weigh about 11kg (around 24 pounds). I may be small, but my heart is huge, and I’ve got enough love and energy to light up your whole world! I was rescued from a shelter just in time, when I was waiting for something no dog should ever have to face. But now, I’m safe, hopeful, and dreaming about the day I meet my forever family — maybe that’s you? 🧡 My Personality I’m a bright, happy, and playful pup with tons of energy and a love for life! I love people so much that when I get excited, I sometimes try to jump up and hug your arm like a little koala — I know, not the best manners, but I’m working on it! I’m currently at a training school learning how to greet politely, and I’m a fast learner. With your patience and consistency, I’ll be the best-behaved girl in no time. 🐾 Puppy in Progress! I haven’t lived in a home before, so I’ll need your help with things like potty training and learning the household rules. I might have a few accidents or chew on something I shouldn’t at first — I’m just a curious girl discovering the world! I may also feel a little anxious if I’m left alone, but with time, love, and a routine I can count on, I’ll grow into a confident, well-adjusted companion. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Social Butterfly I warm up to people quickly — whether you’re old or young, if you’ve got love to give, I’m all in! I have so much affection to share, and I promise to return your kindness with wagging tails, happy zoomies, and all the kisses you can handle. Because I’m a young and energetic pup, I’d love a family who can take me on fun walks, play with me in the yard or park, and give me lots of mental and physical stimulation. If you’ve got an active lifestyle and a warm heart, we might just be a perfect match. 🌈 What I Need A patient, loving family who will guide me as I learn the ropes of home life Daily exercise and playtime to help me use up my bouncy energy Consistent training and boundaries so I can become my best self Cuddles. Lots of cuddles. 💕 I’m full of life, full of love, and full of hope. I believe that somewhere out there, a family is waiting for a dog just like me — one who’s sweet, silly, spirited, and ready to give her whole heart. Could I come home with you? Love always, Sky ☁️💛

Story
Hi, I’m Maple! 🍁🐶 I’m a 1-year-old Spitz–Welsh mix with a fluffy coat, short little legs, and a heart that’s ready to love — all packed into a petite 9kg (about 20 lbs) body. I was rescued from a shelter just in time, and now I’m dreaming of a forever home where I’ll never be scared or alone again. 💛 A Gentle Soul When we first meet, I might be a little shy — I’ve been through a lot, so I take a moment to feel safe. But once I know you're kind, I open up quickly. I really love people and I’m happiest when I’m near you. I’m affectionate, playful, and if you have a treat or two, I’ll be your best friend even faster! I also love playing with other dogs and making furry friends. I’m still young, so I enjoy running around and having fun — but I also know how to walk nicely beside you on a leash. I try to be polite and well-mannered, because I want to make you proud. 🎓 Still Learning I’ve never lived in a home before, so I’ll need your help learning some things — especially potty training. Sometimes, if I’m left alone for too long, I might feel a little anxious or get into some puppy mischief. But with a loving family, patience, and a stable routine, I’ll grow into a confident and well-behaved companion. I’m very treat-motivated, which makes training easier — and more fun for both of us! I just need your time, your guidance, and your love. 🏡 What I’m Looking For A kind, patient family who will help me learn and grow A safe space to call my forever home Daily walks, playtime, and lots of snuggles Someone who believes in second chances — because I sure do 💕 Despite everything I’ve been through, I’ve never stopped believing in people. My heart is full of hope and ready to be part of a family who will love me just as much as I love them. Could that be you? Let’s write our happy ending together. With all my love, Maple 🍁🐾
